I have been to this optician for many years and I can not tell if the optician was having a bad day, but she berated me, spoke ‘at me’ and became defensive and I would say ‘aggressive’ - when I mentioned that I had a bad experience with a different high street optician - it turns out, that optician was her past employer. The woman appeared to take this personally and went on and on ( repeating twice) how all opticians went to only 8 universities in the country and are all equally good. No! You are not all equally good. This is a well known fact established from research backed surveys. You were rude to me today. You behaved in a bullying way and I will not be returning - not because you were bad at being an optician ( you do better eye checks than most). But because you were disrespectful and berated me - you have no right to speak to anyone like that, let alone an older customer.

If I could give 0 stars I probably would. Worst customer service, so unprofessional. When I walked in there they were all sat around drinking all sorts of colourful drinks and chit chatting. Store looked a mess and quite frankly, they looked like they couldn’t care less!

Appointments made for 9.25am and 10.15am for 2x children eye tests. Arrived on time, only receptionist there. 2 x staff walked in at 9.30am. No communication about our appointments. Sat patiently waiting whilst another male customer got called through. Sat til 09.47, still no communication on why they were running late, or what was happening etc. So unprofessional, and rude. Had no option but to leave as felt that their standards towards customer service does not matter to them. More correspondence from them in lead up to appointments to make sure we are going to attend and be on time though, ironic.

Waste of time. Very limited number of equipment and what ever they had in store were very old outdated models.

Customer service. For a company who deals with hearing issues the option to online contact is appalling. I've had no aids for over 6 weeks awaiting a hospital referral drs still not received. I can not phone you as I can't hear. Off work over 6 weeks now as I work in a call centre so unable to do my job.

Visited Penzance Branch 24/01/23 Still waiting for new glasses rang twice still at lab no idea when they will be provided. Will not be back next year.

My glasses frame (less than 8 months old) came apart while I was wearing them today, the staff in Scrivens Opticians, Hallgate, Cottingham, said they were unable to repair them - my only option (other than repairing with superglue or Sellotape) was to order a new frame, presumably the same as the one which has just collapsed, for £139, and they would transfer the lenses across. What is the point in having a pair of glasses that last less than 8 months? Doubtful if I will visit Scrivens again, for eye tests or glasses.

Left a bad review scrivens answered by saying sorry to hear that get back in touch and we will see if we can rectify it did get back in touch still haven't heard anything from scrivens

After spending £350 on new glasses after only wearing them for a month the lens fell out I wasn't happy to have a replacement of same glasses so I was told I could choose a different pair which I did which was £100 cheaper and I was told I couldn't have a refund so I complained to customer services i still was refused a refund then I was told because I complained i couldn't have the new style of glasses i had chosen i had to have THE other glasses I chose in the first place with new lens in them what a shambles. I've got no confidence in the glasses the lens just fell out while I was out walking. I will not be going back to scrivens

You must have the wrong person - I haven't had an eye test - I have not got a pair of glasses on order - but I had a phone call today about a pair of frames that were ordered for me to replace some I broke - they apparently had just arrived - in fact I actually collected them last week! I was delighted that the frames came in as promised & they were fitted to the old lenses promptly - it seems that there are some gremlins in your system!

Went to the Thorpe St Andrews Opticians, unprofessional approach. Not helpful, unkind to my elderly mum. This was a very distressing experience. My mum has been a customer for thirty years, this will be our last visit.

Visited 5 times and my VDU glasses were still no good for purpose wasting my time and petrol money. They did eventually refund. I found out in the end by attending another opticians that the prescription was wrong! which they never checked! One visit to this opticians and done and dusted and I now have a fab new pair of glasses fit for purpose.

Phoned for an appointment and was told to try again in two weeks. Is this because I’m an NHS patient. If so it’s downright discrimination

Starkey hearing aid batteries not very good. Right ear went faulty c.6 months ago and now left one has gone faulty. Have renewed insurance when reviewed Thursday 19/1/23 but am told by Horsforth branch that faulty left aid cannot be sent for repair until insurance is set up though I paid in full on the day. No criticism of audiologist who is excellent nor the optician who I also use but the follow up and administration presumably from your head office is pretty appalling Bryan David Fletcher Horsforth

Having recently moved from to Witney from the Isle of Wight it was decided by my doctor that I should get my eyes tested. I made an appointment for October 23 2022 at the Witney branch Having decided to go to them rather than Specsavers believing that their service would be better. Having waited a considerable time because the optician was running late, I finally was seen by the optician, only to be told that before I could have an eye test I would require to have a blood test. Why I am not sure. Finally one month later I had the long awaited eye test and it was decided to change the prescription, I paid £250 and was expecting to get transition lenses for this price. After one week I received a phone call requesting a further £180 for the special bifocal lenses. In order to keep the cost down I decided to forgo the transition lens. When the glasses finally arrived in December 2022 it was discovered that the bifocals put into the frame were too strong and affected my vision. On January 3 2023 I had a retest and said that as the bifocals were being changed then I would like to have the transition lenses and this was agreed to by the manageress of the Witney branch It is now January 26 2023 and I am still waiting for my glasses . Maybe I should have gone to Specsavers

Wouldn't go near them. Had to bad experiences over the years and cost me £££. Walk past them now and go to the competition.

I recieved a letter requesting me to phone to make an an hearing aftercare appointment, which was overdue. The due call was made and I was informed no appointments were available and I should phone again in a fortnights time. My second call was made after waiting the requested fortnight. I was then told no appointments were available , "Phone again in a fortnights time". I then asked if I could attend a different Scrivens establishment for my appointment. I was told this was possible and agreed to travel a reasonable distance. I then waited a while before being told no appointments were available and I should phone again in a fortnights time.......I gave up...........

Absolutely disgusting, I had a hearing test on 16th September 2022 now 5th January 2023 and still waiting to get my hearing aids fitted I know it is NHS and not private, but I did not realise I would have to wait so long..
