Before going to Scrivens, I was with Vision Express, there was nothing wrong with them but Scrivens was closer to my home, so I decided to leave them for Scrivens In 2018 i purchased a pair of glasses which costed me around £ 500.00/-, extremely expensive for the time of purchase Few years later I attended again for a check up and new pair of glasses were prescribed but I don’t see a difference between them and I still use both glasses About a month ago, I wet again for a check up and there was no issue with my eyesight however the person who conducted the check up was trying to convince me to buy further glasses even though I was not in need, she said ‘you can have a spare pair of glasses just in case’, I still don’t understand it Upon leaving the place, I spoke with the staff about the possibility of ordering a nose pad for my £ 500.00/- glasses, the person I spoke with showed no respect at all as whilst I was asking questions to her, she was eating (zero respect and very rude), I was told ‘no’ and I had no choice but to leave feeling let down and embarrassed I’m a professional person and being very busy with my job, I had no time to write this review or even complain which I did a day ago The customer service I was dealing with did nothing but defended the actions of their staff at the Chigwell branch I wonder, how can they sell £ 500.00/- glasses to any customer and then they are not able to assist any longer, this means a rip off as they got what they wanted I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated with the service I received because I left Vision Express who are exceptionally good and reliable when dealing with customers, for them, wrong decision by me I hope this review wakes them up and makes them deal with the issues they may face in the future in a professional manner !

I attended Scrivens in Alsager for the first time at 79 years old. I was greeted very nicely by the young lady on reception and she asked me to sit and wait. After half an hour I approached the desk to inquire what was happening as I had somewhere else to be being a farmer and animals don’t like waiting The young lady explained the Optician was having problems with his patient and I would be seen shortly. After what seemed like ages he ( the optician ) called me in. I was treated very abruptly and spoken to in a bad tempered manner and felt as I was 79 I must be an imbecile. I did nearly walk out but the thought of waiting somewhere else I stuck it out. On finishing my eye test I was dealt with by the receptionist who was superb and ordered my glasses. During this time the Optician ran out and came back with his takeaway lunch obviously hungry but no fault of mine. I have been contacted by Scrivens to return for an annual test and explained to the telephone inquirer why I am using Specsavers now. I hope that Scrivens now take me off their contact list and leave me alone at 81 years of age now. If you are a pensioner these people think they can talk down to you and treat you as an inferior person. I suggest to them I didn’t come from a terraced rented family home to make myself a multi millionaire without brains. DO NOT GO TO THIS BRANCH

i said at time i thought hearing aids were flimsy but was told to try them and come back, went back today, lady said cant do anything now for you. never going to scrivens again

Had my hearing test, which was fine. However, I was told that I would be referred to the specialist hearing services, which is run by my local hospital. After a week, I contacted the specialist service to see if I could make an appointment (as suggested by the hearing test person) to be told that they had not received my referral yet. I contacted Scrivens, who told me that the referral had been made via my GP. They also told me that it had been done again that day. I contacted my GP, who told me that they had not received any referral from Scrivens for me. I spoke to Scrivens the following day and it was confirmed that the referral had been made twice and also a printed letter had been sent. I asked if a letter could be sent to me and it was confirmed that one would be sent in the post and couldn't be sent by email due to security issues. I spoke again to my GP and they confirmed that they had not received anything from Scrivens. So I don't know who to believe now, but I am stuck in the middle of this having not had any treatment for a year. The ridiculous thing is that the hospital said that Scrivens could have referred me to them directly and not go through the GP. Whatever, the system said doesn't work and it is us poor service users who suffer. I am able to deal with it, but what would happen if it were someone not able to do that?

Nothing is wrong, my hearing aids are a great improvement to the old ones but I can’t get your questionnaire to work to complete it. Unique I’d 367700

Very frustrated by Scrivens Hearing Centre in Exeter Cannot make an appointment as phone is not answered and leaving a message is not possible as answerphone box is full ( why have this option?) making a journey on the off chance of an appointment is a risk and unlikely to get an appointment. The previous provider of NHS services held drop in appointments an was very helpful. Ringing the national office was helpful but didn’t result in any follow up from the local branch so still no appointment !

Went to Scrivens in Stafford for ear suction, had to go back as I still had wax on eardrum, went back checked my ear said he couldn’t do it needed irrigation, was left worse than when I went. Would not recommend. Had to go elsewhere who were more professional and sorted me out

I recently registered with Scrivens, only because action for deafness have ceased, and have been desperate to get replacement left ear domes and when I did EVENTUALLY get them they were way too large despite the fact I had to email them a photo of my old ones and even gave them a precise measurement.

I recently went to Scrivens in Tamworth for my free NHS hearing test. Both Michaela and Hayden were very helpful and within less than an hour my hearing loss had been measured and I walked out of there on the day with my own Free NHS hearing aids, personally adjusted to suit my needs. I recommend Scrivens and the Team 100%. Thankyou Tony from Polesworth

Receptionist welcoming and courteous, Dan, the audiologist was very professional and helpful; took time to ensure that my hearing aids were functioning as well as possible and revised the settings for optimal efficiency. This is not a complaint about service the shop assistants were very helpful The hearing aids I was given were no use to me as I could not get the batteries in or out as I have very arthritic fingers and I live on my own I asked for plug in ones but was told not on NHS so I have had to buy private ones What a waist of money for NHS for an extra few £s I am sure there are others like me

Scrivens took over from Chime who lost the NHS contract in Exeter. I had had excellent service from Chime. Scrivens have given me appalling service, largely because staff are working with ancient or cheap system and computers. After my hearing test, computer crashed and lost all my data so had to re-do test. On my return to collect new hearing aids, system caused delays so I had to wait. The system could not print out my results so I had to photograph the computer screen (staff are not even able to email results to me). I was offered new hearing aids that I refused as they were much bigger, clunkier, more obtrusive and fiddly than my old ones - looked like an old design in comparison. I do not recommend Scrivens.

We had a very poor experience when our 90 year old mother had a peripheral vision test at Kidderminster. The young woman performing the test was ill mannered, totally unhelpful and rude. It left mother quite shaken and upset by this persons treatment of her.

I purchased a set of hearing aids which were ridiculously expensive. They continually go quiet then pop and work temporarily. They have been sent off for repair and I had no aids for two weeks. Worked on and off since. I clean them as per instructions. I am now going to return for a full refund. Not recommended

I went to have my hearing aid looked at on Saturday morning in Haywards Heath branch. The woman started off ok. Until someone who she knew chatted to them. I as I was struggling putting my hearing aid back in my hear. No help from her. Unfortunately it’s putting me going back in there for help. The place I came from was actionfordeafness in Haywards Heath they closed last month. She was a big woman who served me.

I went into the Waterlooville branch because my left sided hearing aid stopped working. I produced the faulty hearing aid only to be told it was not being used any more .I told the girl it was the one I got from them on my last visit ,only a couple of months before. The girl accused me of lying by saying they would never have given me the one in question. I tried to reason with her but she was adament. I was then told I would have to pay £77 for a new one which they would have to send away for. That was a week ago and I've heard nothing since (Please excuse the pun)
