Came to the Fordhouses branch with my elderly father to ask how we can get him nhs hearing aids. Bloke we spoke to was very helpful but his female colleague was oblivious to the fact we were there! She was speaking so loudly and joking with her colleague that we could just about hear what the man was telling us. They are scrivens opticians and hearing CARE, but the staff need training on how to communicate with people hard of hearing!

Whilst Michael Sharpstone at your North Finchley branch is an excellent, caring optometrist and the service received for my wife's new glasses was excellent, I can not say this about the shop assistant / receptionist in charge of dispensing glasses. After my wife saw Michael, she went to choose her new glasses frame. Unfortunately he was not at all interested in helping her and only wanted to get us out of the shop quickly so that he could have his lunch (at 4.00 pm). He told us that he hadn't eaten all day, but that wasn't our fault. He was more interested in his stomach than serving customers who basically pay his salary through sales. Then when we came to pick up the new glasses, I asked the same shop assistant what my wife's prescription was for her reading glasses. I am visually impaired and carry a white cane at all times. He told me to look at the prescription we were given. I found this deeply insulting, rude, uncaring and unprofessional as i had to wave my white cane at him and told him I can't see to read the prescription that's why i asked him. I think he got the message as he then told me, but it shouldn't have come to that as he should have told me straight away. He was just being lazy. He needs complete re-training.

Appalling service from Scrivens who have taken over from CHIME Audiology in Devon, an NHS service. Wrong size tubes fitted on first occasion and now the aids fall apart, audiologist didn't turn up on second occasion and no message left on my phone to let me know she was sick, and now another 5 weeks wait for an appointment to repair the faulty aids I have been left with. Very disappointed.

Useless! Waited 3 weeks for able eye test appointment then they cancelled the day before. Booked another eye test for 3 weeks later and they cancelled it AGAIN. Now booked to go to Specsavers tomorrow.

Very surprised at the reception I was given today at Scrivens in Diss by one of the emplyees. ~I have used Scrivens in Diss for many years and have always found the staff to be most welcoming and helpful. Today I noticed a new female member of staff who was most officious and abrupt and I left with no advice. I will be most careful not to visit again with this member of staff present.

I could not get an appointment in Gosport had to go to Hedgeend but people I know have ha an appointment into port after my request was turned down

I recently phoned the customer care number to order more batteries for my hearing aids. An envelope with 2 battery packs arrived a few days later. Enclosed with the batteries, was a notice that stated people can no longer order over the phone, but either call into local branch, or fill in an online order form. This is the best option for me, as I have no transport. After going on the website given, rhere is no such order form listed ! After getting back to the normal number, I was told to use the number which I have always used !! Total waste of a Monday morning !! It sounds like someone is leaping before learning to jump ……….

Not very happy with the service, cannot get a follow up and unable to use hearing aids. Tried to get an appointment three weeks ago to no avail. Still waiting.

I’ve needed hearing aids since 2018 and the first pair I received were excellent the service I received was also superb, when covid arrived and things were more difficult I received a replacement pair in the post and again had no problem. Then in 2024 having heard nothing from Scrivens I booked for a repeat hearing test as I was aware either the devices were failing or my hearing had deteriorated, I was issued with replacement aids however I needed to book a further appointment as not only could I not hear as clearly as I could with the old ones but they randomly and constantly kept on whistling (loud enough for other people to hear) at that appointment they were tweaked to fix the problem, the problem wasn’t solved so I have been wearing the old aids and I’m just waiting until until I qualify for NHS aids from another provider.

Booked an audiology test at my local surgury because I had a very bad experience 10 years since at another supplier. Chap was quite polite, told me I needed two hearing aids and they would be fitted in three weeks. Showed me the audio gram. NO OTHER INFORMATION SUPPLIED at this meeting. When I got home I called the main contact number and asked for a copy of the audio gram. It was emailed to my correct email address but the email introduction was to someone entirely different. Not impressed. Also the audio gram only has my name , with no other reference, no nhs number, no date of birth. When I presented this to my (then go) he was not impressed, nearly all nhs graphs scans etc etc carry name and dob as a minimum. I will go back for the fitting appt, but I am not happy as after talking to my go I understand that I can no longer be referred to audio services at a hospital the referral has to go to spec savers, and their personnel have lied to me previously about both optical and aural issues.. Not a happy customer, but going to have to give them another go. We shall see.

The staff at your Bolton branch were very professional when I visited recently for a check up and replacement lenses 10 out of ten just waiting for the return of my glasses,thank you.

Not happy as did own on line hearing test indicating some hearing loss. Went on line entered gp post code and was given branch in shirley who provide nhs hearing aids and free test however on phoning told they don't take self referral despite web site saying they do. Can't understand the misinformation

I walked up to the branch in Clifton (Bristol) this morning, having first checked the opening days & times, only to find it closed. I wanted to go there because I need help with my glasses and I’ve heard great things about the Clifton Scrivens team from a neighbour. It was disappointing to find a notice on the door saying it was closed. I hope it’s not due to sickness, it seems unlikely as I’ve noticed that there are usually several people working there. I guess I’ll have to try elsewhere, which is a shame. I hope your normal good service will be resumed soon. I’ve given 3 stars as I believe the service to normally be good and hopefully this is a rare exception.

Went to the Cheadle store today 21/8/24 to pick up my glasses woman behind the counter was miserable I felt like I was disturbing her she wasn't welcoming at all and when I said I still couldn't read properly or focus with new glass she sighed and said we'll give it a week , wouldn't mind but these glasses have cost me over £220 not a great service, I will give it a week and hopefully I will see a different person who actually wants to deal with me without it being a problem 😕

So I pay £18 a month to lens plan. When I lost a lens they say I’m not covered and need to pay £55 ? But the documents state free lens replacement? Talk about a dodgy contract. People be carful with this company. I’m looking round to go elsewhere.

I waited 20 minutes past my appointed time for a hearing aids fitting at the Chipping Norton branch. I was then told that the practitioner "wouldn't be much longer". I had another meeting to attend so I declined to wait any longer and indicated that I would arrange another (hopefully punctual) appointment. The actual service that Scrivens provides is usually first class.

My previous hearing aids were supplied and fitted by the NHS hospital. I expected these to be similar in performance, and asked in particular whether they would connect to my phone as I need this for work. I was told that I could connect them to my phone so thought fine. When I got home I found that I could adjust the aids by my phone, but couldn't listen to calls.This is essential for me yet it was only after phone calls and two repeat visits to Scrivens that I was told that this was not possible with these hearing aids. I tried desperately for help but none was forthcoming over the next two and a half months, making repeated phone calls, and being promised return calls which never happened. I think this is absolutely disgraceful service, the only answer for me is either to go private and buy hearing aids like I previously had, or buy a ' phone clip' which they say will allow me to hear phone calls. This is not cheap, and despite my request, no discount was offered.
