“Read all the reviews after I had a problem with paying for my daughters policy and was shocked to see so many negative posts.
My daughter has just passed her test and Go Compare came up with Gogirl as the best price , plus free legal aid so I went for it.
Filled in the online application with Gogirl , then rang them to confirm that all was ok , which it was. Problem with their online paying system meant i had to ring them again and do it over the phone. All this was easy and the staff were fine.
Main issue was that they never sent me any confirmation of purchase or any of the policy documents , so was unsure if the insurance had gone through. Tried emailing but all came back as non deliverable. Really worried by now so rang them this morning. All was sorted in a few minutes and docs emailed straight across. Also emailed Sabre and 2 other depts with my concerns , all came back to me next day with an explanation and apology.
To be honest , I felt that although there were a couple of things that could have been improved , the service and follow up was very good and the staff were fine.
Im always polite to start with and not assy with the staff , and this seemed to do the trick.”
“DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! ABSOLUTE SCAMMING THIEVS!!!!! ANY MOMENT THEY CAN RIP MONEY OUT OF YOU THESE PEOPLE WILL!!!! RUDE RUDE RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. DISGUSTED.”
“I arranged car insurance with this company for my grandmother in her 80's and the way in which they have treated her is nothing short of harassment. I have taken out lots of policies before for myself and her, and not one of them has requested so many different documents in order to verify the policy not to mention the number of times they have called her to chase these up knowing very well her age and that I am sorting the policy out for her. I suspect they are trying to make her cancel and forfeit their £45 charge so they effectively get money for nothing but she cannot afford to do this. Do not use them - I get the distinct impression they are a bunch of cowboys.”
“Beware - we are disgusted with the company. We have just had to pay a £25 "admin fee" because the no claims discount we have turns out to be 7 years not 8 years as believed. The amendment makes absolutely no difference to the terms or cost of the policy - but they refuse to use any discretion whatsoever. We would cancel the policy if we could - but it would cost more to do so. It's clear from other reviews that this £25 will be charged irrespective of the nature or relevance of the change - and whether it makes the slightest difference to the policy or not. We certainly will not recommend them or renew with them.”
“Disgusted. We had to contact them because the no claims discount we hold turns out to be 7 years not 8 as we believed. They have therefore charged us a £25 admin fee to amend this despite the fact that it makes absolutely no difference to the cost or terms of the policy whatsoever. There is no discretion and we are stuck because despite now wanting to cancel the policy because we are so disgusted - it would cost more than the £25 to do so. We will NOT be renewing with them. The £25 charge is a money making exercise and has nothing to do with an Admin fee. Beware.”
“Go girl is cheap for a learner driver, but once you pass the premium quadruples. Most learners will pass within a year so they know this will likely happen, but then they charge you £25 as an admin fee, and for me, a further £800 for the remain 6 months of the policy.
The £25 although in their terms and conditions for ANY change in your policy was absolutely ridiculous for something that most learners will do part way through their policy - PASS!
There was another £25 charge for entering the 5 digits of my new number plate too.
So beware that the cheap initial price may inflate - sounds like the airline industry!
What happened to good old customer service and not leaving a bad taste? How hard can it be? Treat customers well and they will come back! Duh! I would certainly pay more now for a company that would give a BETTER SERVICE THAN GOGIRL”
“When I was hit in the rear by a third party. My car was written off. The third party insurer dealt with it all. However when taking to go girl they gave me no option to keep my insurance on hold they just said I have to cancel it as I I had no car. Plus not knowing how long it would take to get a new car i lost my policy and the 5 months of my first year no claims build up. So I had to start again plus a massive deposit due to only driving since the previous September.”
“By far the worst insurance company i have ever dealt with. Customer service was a cross between a Little Britain sketch and The only way is Essex. Every time I questioned something i was given "computer says no so i can do nothing".
My policy, following an argument with them, was cancelled 4 times in a row ( for no legitimet reason ) I've recieved over 20 text messages and 35 emails demanding policy amendments, money, and that i contact them immediately or again my policy will be cancelled.
When calling to change my policy so that my named driver was now a full time driver they quoted me £580. A reaonsable price, if for a year however this was to insure him for 2 months ( remaning time on the policy ) and according to thier computer this was the only option available, a years cover.
A request to speak to a manager ended with the "team leader" saying "If you don't like the quote, find a new insurer" and that's what led to the original random cancellation of my policy. To then remove the learner driver they wanted £220, again a completely unjustifiable and unlogical amount given the chance of anything happening was reduced greatly. If i did neither withing 4 days again policy was threatened to be cancelled.
Another phone call yesterday to request the change of my payment again ended in the same scenario. I wanted to change the date by three days due to being paid late and the threats of cancelling the policy immediately began. Other insurers have done this for me before many times without hassle.
Avoid this company at all costs! Constant hassle, threats, demands for money, laughable customer service and generally useless money taking thieves. I cannot stress enough, do not give this compnmay your business.
Joe.”
“I too wish i could give a lower rating. Staff are downright rude, they are inflexible and difficult to deal with.
I decided to forfeit £45 rather than pay them £25 to amend my policy with something that was disclosed from the outset.
Its odd that they don't disclose the £45 fee if you cancel within the 14 day cooling off period until after they have your money.
Lesson learnt. Pay a little more for better customer service.
Stay away from this company.”
“Apparently i contacted my bank telling them not to submit my direct debit payment. Contacted the bank and was told that the payment was never requested in the first place, they suggested getting them to resubmit the pyment and trying it again.. Told Go girl what my bank had said and they stated we do no do resubmissions, we will only accept payment over the phone. Then i was warned that because the payment had 'failed' i was being charged £20. So i had to pay for a payment that had never even been requested i will not be going with go girl insurance next time round! can't wait to renew”
“They are not a good company takes the money when had a crash took seven weeks for them to take away the car but still not found anything out yet so don't insure way them pay couple pound extra to some other company”
“What a load of rubbish! I used this company when I first passed my driving test (2013) and they were great throughout. It wasn't until the end when I said I would not be renewing as I have found insurance cheaper elsewhere - they were rude and were not bothered in the slightest that they lost a customer. I then went to Diamond and they have been okay but only quoted me £20 less when it came to renewing so have gone back to Go Girl as this was the cheapest on a comparison site. Really wary to do it but while trying to save for a house, need to try to save monies elsewhere! I have been insured for 2 days with them and I am not happy in the slightest!! I had someone reverse into my car last year and I never went through any insurance company and did this privately to get fixed. Since I had told them that, they have now lumped me with £130 on top of the insurance which apparently includes a £25 admin fee to change my details?! I have emailed them to complain but they just don't seem bothered. I was with them when this "accident" happened and have told them to check their records as I did not claim. Really unimpressed and have told them that once this year is over, I'm done! Would rather pay slightly more to go with a company who are decent and treat people with respect and not like the mud on the bottom of their shoes!”
“STAY AWAY. There's a reason we feel wary of going with insurers that aren't big names. This company is a scam, they will withhold or take your money for the most spurious reasons.
Here's my experience:
I had a policy out with you with my previous car that I acquired through my mum's company car allowance via her job.
It was a 6 month lease and to insure it cost me over £800, which I paid for upfront when I took out the policy.
I phoned last week when I received my new car (the 6 months was up), and was initially told it would cost an extra £500+ to change the car on the policy. This, as over half of what I had already paid for 12 months, was unacceptable to me and I was told that after a discussion with the underwriters someone would get back to me before 10:30 am the next day.
I received no phone call and so had to chase things up myself, it was then that I was told that in fact the car was uninsurable. The reason for which was given as the lease on the car only being for 6 months. As you can imagine I found this pretty ridiculous because the last car on my policy was also a 6 month lease. When I said this I was told that that shouldn't have been allowed to happen. So, someone somewhere made a mistake when I initially took out the policy and several have been made since.
I was told as the car was uninsurable I would need to cancel my policy- an inconvenience, but okay. I asked when I could expect to receive the half of the £800+ that I paid when I took out the insurance (as it was a 12 month policy and I had only had my car for 6 months) where I was informed I could only expect to receive £200 back. This I found a disgrace but I was on a train at the time so said not to take any action for now as I would need to speak to someone else the next day.
When I phoned back, I spoke to first a member of inbound staff who repeated the same thing to me, and then a manager who was similarly unhelpful. I think it is outrageous that they feel it is acceptable to take £200+ of my money for no justifiable reason whatsoever. I understand I cancelled my policy early but that had never been my intention, it was THEM who told me they would not insure my new car- for the reason that it was a 6 month lease. Which had been the case with my previous car... laughable!
I feel this is discriminatory against people paying annually in full, and encourages people to pay unnecessary interest for fear of ludicrous withholding of money already paid upfront in the event that they need to cancel.
I am a student and do not have money to spare- as I am sure no one does. If you want what you pay for and don't want to give your money away- pick a different insurer!”
“I insured my daughters car with these people almost 12 months ago, although they are GoGirl the insurer behind them is Sabre. Having been an Insurance Broker for 30 years I was reasonably happy with the insurer - The people at GoGirl, absolutely useless, appalling customer service, to the point that some of the people that I have had the misfortune of dealing with are clearly not that intelligent, and quite rude. Forget asking questions by email, one sentence answers that don't answer the question in any case.
Moving my daughter to a proper insurer.
Overall - Wouldn't bother.”
