“After much deliberating on how to connect to down pipe, I conceded and followed the instructions with the diverter kit. 3 hours later the 200 litre butt was full. (and the garden well watered)”

“I bought this to replace the smaller version of the same water butt which I bought several years ago - I definitely needed a larger one. As I have installed one before, it was easy for me to fit it. However, there was one problem; there was a leak from the seal on the tap. It seems to me that the O-ring is too soft, and as you tighten the tap into the hole, the O-ring is squeezed out. I fiddled with it a bit but it still leaked. I found a solution. Unscrew the tap and smear the thread with plenty of "Plumber's Mait" before screwing it back. That seems to have done the job. (Bit of a nuisance emptying and them re-filling the butt to do that). I think the instructions should advise the user to stand the butt on a paving slab (600mm square is ideal), if it is to go somewhere that is not already paved or concrete. I realized that with my first one.”

“The finish is poor, in relation to the image on screen - it's obvious it's plastic at the front which negated the terracotta effect. I understood a hose was additional to a tap. This was not included.”

“Ordering and delivery of our water butt was very good, setting up easy, we had a fair amount of rain on the 1st evening so the water butt filled to the top so that was handy ! Whilst setting up the butt i did apply some silicone sealant to the tap in addition to the washer provided, same with the diverter but I did notice a small leak at the point where the diverter hose fits into the butt so when dry I'll fit that again but ad a touch more sealant than before, I'm certain that will do the trick ! Lid is fairly tight so left it off for 1st day to make life easy to check things then fitted lid with no problems. Very happy with my purchase.”

“Good price for the item, however I was told as my item would be three weeks for delivery it took quite a bit longer, I queried this & was told it was coming from the supplier directly & they would contact me when it was available, should have been told this when ordering, it seemed to be me doing the contacting all the time !, eventually got the item which I am very pleased with, just not the problems I had getting it.”

“We are pleased with the water butt, which is strong, well made and was easy to install, however we have replaced the tap on the front with a more aesthetically pleasing black one. We also concur with another review of the product that suggests its design would be further enhanced if the stone pattern design was extended over the two sides of the butt. However, we were very disappointed with the service we received regarding the delivery. We would have made every effort to be in to receive the item or would have given the company instructions as to where to leave it if we had known we were going to be out. Indeed, this is usually a standard question when ordering an item to be delivered. Unfortunately it was delivered ahead of schedule and on a day that we were out. We were not informed of its impending arrival. There was no telephone call or text from the delivery company. According to our neighbour, it was left on a pallet in the middle of our drive. Thankfully, he very helpfully moved it to a secure location. We were not even informed afterwards that the delivery had taken place. We spent a lot of money on this item and would have expected a higher standard of customer service from the company to whom you entrust your deliveries.”

“We had one of your water butts and then bought another with the aim of linking them and doubling our water capacity. Unfortunately the Hozelock connector on the tap leaked, I was using genuine, brand new Hozelock fittings. Water Butts Direct were unable or unwilling to come up with a solution so I have had to buy two more taps in order to achieve our goal. This has turned out to be an expensive project, hence one star.”
