“Love the chosen item which fits into our garden great. However the downside was I was not notified of the expected delivery date/time and only by a coincidence was I at our home when it was delivered. In future sort this out!!!”

“The water butt is bigger than I expected. It was scratched on one side. Apart from that, it’s a robust water butt.”

“I bought the Roto350 litre water Butt with base. It does look look quite good being a shade of dark oak and it might pick up some lichens in time. Delivery was very prompt though not left at my house, but postcode covers several houses, all named. The tap feels quite tough but I was a little surprised it was not brass for the price. However time will tell that may prove it works better whatever it looks like. I wished the connection to the drainpipe could have been on the side or in the top. We had to cut a hole in the lid. It is not practical having it in the front and spoils the overall appearance. Also the tap is very low for a big watering can even when on it’s stand because the stand is not very high. Our stand had 10% off price but it did have several inches of daylight at one point where the top joins the sides. We are not sure how it will stand up to the weight of 350litres standing on top of it. So sadly I can only give 3 stars.”

“Bought a hose tail - £6 seems a bit expensive for about 20p worth of plastic and it took over a week to arrive. Only 3/5 stars.”

“Relatively expensive for a plastic water but. Nice design and wood grain effect. The lid let’s it down as it pools water …. We have had to drill drain holes in the top to prevent the water going stagnant. Domed top would have been better.”

“I ordered a 100L and a 200L Oak effect butts. 1. the 100L base would not fit together, out by about 0.5cm. I asked a neighbour to check this, and he agreed. However, because of a very slight flexibility, to save me the trauma of having to repack and return this large item, he used brute force to jam it together, which was successful - in the end. The join is therefore wider and more visible than it should be. Perhaps a more rigorous quality control could be instituted before despatch? 2. I was very pleased that the lids fitted tightly and were pegged down securely, to prevent them blowing off or letting mosquitoes lay their eggs in the water. However, the design of the lids, like a treacle tin lid, was such that I inserted them just like a treacle tin lid, in the absence of any instructions to the contrary. This meant that when it rained they filled with rain to a depth of 2.5 and 3.5 cms! A workman eventually thought perhaps they were upside down, and should go on like hats, which I feel sure will be correct when a workman comes to connect them to the downpipes. Could printed instructions on this be added to avoid such confusion?”

“The following critical comments (see below) were submitted to the company in advance in the expectation that it would generate some form of positive response...still waiting. The comment re the PTFE tape was dismissed and misunderstood as I was referring to the instructions issued by Water Butts Direct (not one issued by manufacturer of the tape - there weren't any.) The comment re the tap was intended to be helpful and if followed could significantly improve the product but other than passing it to someone else in the Company, it seems to have been ignored. "9/10 for cosmetics 2/10 for practicalities; The directions for attaching the tap are unclear/confusing. It is important to understand that the PTFE tape has to be wound round the tap thread in the opposite way that the tap is tightened, ie the tap is screwed in in a clockwise direction and the tape has to be wound in an anticlockwise direction (courtesy of a local friendly plumber!). The tap itself is not really suitable in that it is too narrow a gauge with a consequent very slow water flow (even when the tank is full). My other water butts have wide gauge taps and fill a 10ltr can in about 15/20 seconds - as opposed to 2 plus minutes for this one."”

“Love The water butt The coloured is just what I wanted. There are two problems The first is IT needs a spare bung as with In a few DAYS IT disappeared . IT must have come out with heavyweight rains and with water pressure flipped out. The second is IT needs some sort OF lid as The TOP fills UP with water to become n insect Pool .even whenever planned as theres no drainage, planting didnt work without adding a drainage hole. But generaly IT seems well made and The brass tap is great.”

“Ordered 20mm hose tail and extension hose for my water butt. They arrived 4 days later. The practical problem was they didn't come with any instructions on how to put it together. I had to ring the company for this advice. It would have been impossible to know without this phone call that we needed also a 25mm flat drill bit for making the hole. With his explanations how the hose tail was in 3 parts, where they went in installation and with the correct drill bit, my son was able to do this job. It would have been good if all this had been as written information in the package.”

“The butt was delivered without any problems, however the instructions included were for a different butt and the "pre-drilled hole" was non-existent. Also, which I should have noticed when ordering, a lot of water is left in the bottom of the butt below the tap, therefore wasting a lot.”
