Aggressive and obviously angry salesman in Andy Payne from Darlington when I decided to purchase elsewhere. Lots of multiple exclamation points and defensiveness in his texts. Wouldn’t want to have any future dealings with him.

Renault twinco vfahb10554825744 (NU16 XSF), the car was due a pre-delivery inspection, this most not of been done.?the screen wash water was very dirty I had to rinse the car after use. I therefore slid the front cover open to find it very dirty inside/.the wash water filler tube had black tape wrapped around the top (I do not no why).also the air intake slots (left side) had a ball of moss attached./i drained washer bottle and filled up with screen wash.the car had no documentation,i called the your sales dept, and was told they would try to contact the former keeper,no body came back to me.i therefore made contact with Renault uk..and have received full handbook(pdf),radio man., (pdf),warranty +service sheet with car vin no , Renault assistance sheet, great service from Renault.(10 out of 10).I do love the car a great drive.but let down by S G PETCH,

According to my invoice I was charged for 3 gallons of fuel when I collected my MX5 on 31st January even though the fuel gauge looked low. On my way home the fuel warning light was on in under 40 miles and empty by 50. Checking the mileometer when I arrived home I discovered that since the car had been MoT tested on the 29th January and my collection two days later there were 35 unexplained miles. Does this in part explain the low fuel. I photographed the mileometer when I arrived home and wrote to SG Petch a couple of days later including the photo and suggesting an explanation was in order. I also mentioned my surprise that I was introduced to a second salesman who, I was told, wished to ‘thank me for my business’. In fact this was a cynical ploy to launch into a hard sell for GAP insurance. Finally 4 days after purchasing the car an email arrived to offer me Mazda accessories at a 10 per cent discount once more to ‘thank me for my business’ . I had paid the full price of £259 for mudflaps to be fitted when I bought the car - no ‘thanks for my business at that point’ These issues were raised in my letter addressed to the Dealer Principal. He/she has not even had the decency to reply to my letter. This has been the most cynical experience I have had in dealing with many dealerships over the years. I am very unimpressed.

Love the car but am very disappointed with what happened when I got home! I drove 280 miles home which was fine, then within 5 mins of engine being switched off I went out to find the car wouldn't start! I tried phoning Michael but he didn't answer so I called the AA. When he lifted the bonnet he said the lead wasn't connected to battery. So I drove 4 1/2 hours with no lead to the battery. So whoever done the checks obviously didn't check the battery leads were on properly. All I got was an apology on the phone. Not good enough I will be taking this further!

Probably the worst experience of collecting a new car and have had over 10 in the last 8 years so know what to expect. Only after speaking to the General Manager was any type of professional service given and even then when a courtesy car was supplied from the Fiat dealership it was dirty and smelt of cigarettes. Can only think this was just another childish approach from a childish sales staff in the Fiat dealership. I would not buy another Fait from SG Petch; the other dealerships I cannot comment as they are clearly run individually.

We recently changed our car for a hyundai ix20, the car we bought was pre-registered. I thought afterwards as we went ahead with the deal that we were badly done to. What was really annoying is the car that we wanted was reduced over £2,000 within days of us buying the same car in a different colour. The part exchange price for our old car was very poor, if i had thought more about the deal we were offered i would never of gone ahead with it. SG PETCH has always looked after us over the years but on this occasion i feel badly done to. Sorry but not happy at all with the deal.

Awful experience - patronising salesmen - talked to like idiots - my car wasn't worth anything - talked to as if I'd done the rounds - yeah recognise your name/reg (haven't bought a car from a forecourt for nearly 6 years). Worse - agreed to buy two cars and then contacted 10mins before arrival (two 32 mile round trip) to say cars were sold but they had this other car that would be perfect (more expensive obviously). Finally agreed on a third car (factored in £50 friends and family which my family member was meant to hand over without their agreement) and no second key! After two months of being lied to, fobbed off, myself turning up impromptu at the garage and given some other poor fools second key which obviously didn't fit - I had a new one cut. I only got any joy after looking up Mr Petch's home address and threatening to contact him. I now dread anything going wrong whilst under warranty and having to go back to deal with these unprofessional patronising individuals. I will not miss my weekly calls and countless wasted miles trying to get them to provide a service they clearly dont feel any obligation to provide. I could say so much more but choose not to name and shame.

When I purchased my car they agreed to service the vehicle before I collected it. When I collected they didn't stamp the service book so I had to drive back to get this done. Whenever I communicated with them they seemed to forget about calling back or dealing with the issue. I am not convinced that the service was actually completed on the car and would therefore never deal with them again.

Having bought my second new Hyundi from the Middlesbough dealer on the Tuesday. I did,nt use this until the saturday, when the Malfunction light appeared. I took this back to the garage on the Monday, and never heard anything from them at all week. So on the Saturday, I rang to find out the problem. Was told the person dealing with my car was off and she would get Alex to get in touch on the Monday. On the Monday , (having had this new car for a week) she rang to say that the car was actually fixed the same day, but had rang me ONCE, and was unable to get an answer. I explained I am at home all the time, but nobody is there 24/7.. I think this was disgraceful, never ringing another time, or even using my e-mail , and to be left without the car for a whole week.

Just been told by your service department that the warranty you gave with the car we bought only covers breakdowns and not any faults that we reported just after purchase, told there was no fault, and found by another garage who have the car in for brake renewal. What's the point of a warranty. Petch's are living up to their useless reputation.

Hi Amy, please accept our apologies. It would appear an email of one our customers is very similar to yours. We've corrected the error at our end. Once again we're very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I felt that the service that I got was excellent until I signed the finance agreement to buy the car. After this I felt that it was extremely poor, it was very difficult to get any factual information about when my car would be delivered, what I needed to do and when I could pick it up. On one occasion I had to ring three times in one night, the first time I was kept on hold for 6 minutes and the second time 25 minutes trying to get information. On top of this when I finally picked my car up it had a large scratch to the back bumper which was clearly visable but no mentioned it to me until I asked about it. I felt like all the effort went into selling me the car and after this no one was interested.

We bought a car from the Durham branch 3 weeks ago. Extremely poor customer service. The manager avoids you and hides away in his office when you have questions or issues with the car we were purchasing. £19000 is a lot of money to spend on a vehicle but I would expect some good customer service to go with it. No follow up call nothing!! The car was dropped off at our home as when we had organised pick up it was not ready. The car had not been valeted not even hoovered by the looks of it. There was a biscuit down the side of the drivers seat. Kids macdonalds papers in the back seat compartments. The outside of the car was not polished and had a horrible gritty feel as you ran your hands alone it. Over all very disappointed with the service we received. And would never recommend the branch to anyone I know.

Dear Gary, sorry to hear about your experience after purchase, as something has clearly gone wrong somewhere along the lines. I will be speaking with the manager regarding this and also to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Please feel free to contact me at the branch on 0191 3750062. Kind Regards Sam Petch Sales Director.
