Initially I was very happy with my purchase of my twelve sorento from our local dealers but since have found that I cannot purchase a tow bar after waiting six weeks. The outlook is presently grim on being able to go on holiday over the next few month and my family is so disappointed. I now wish I had not purchased the vehicle as this is the sole purpose for the said vehicle. I feel let down by Kia and believe they should not have sold me the vehicle knowing that tow bars are not available for some time. Now a very unhappy buyer, Lena Lofthouse

SG petch Middlesbrough: Terrible, i will never set foot in here again. The only staff member who has been helpful has been Alex but i have a list as long as my arm of things that have gone wrong with my abarth competizione. See below: Got car 1st March 2019. Upon leaving ESR and Hill Assist light came on. Took back to showroom but nothing came on. Told them this was due to a bad sensor in the brakes but gave the car back. Fault came up again that night 2nd March picked up from work and stayed in the workshop for a few days. Looked at sensor in the brake and this wasnt plugged in properly - fixed. Car service completed 11/01/2020 25/02/2020 experienced a fault where my clutch was sticking to the floor Rang SG petch, spoke to Staff, rang numerous numbers i was given but would not ring. Staff rang the number, recovery came to my work. Told i could not have a courtesy car as did not have one available. Explained i needed one. Drove car to SG Petch. Given fiat 500 courtesy car Rang on 26/02/2020 and was told they had road tested my car and could not find fault 27/02/2020 telephone call from Staff who told me my car needed a whole new clutch because the ‘clutch manifold had failed’. No such thing as a clutch manifold? Picked car up on 6th March, Staff advised she would send information out in the post as to why my clutch had failed 16/03/2020 No post received - telephone call to SG petch to enquire and advised they would print it off immediately and send me it in the post Letter recieved on 25th via second class post. It was clear the master cylinder had failed. 7th september 2020 car goes into garage because i complained the housing around the fog lights was cracked. Telephone call from Staff later on that day saying that the fog light housing was cracked (not sure why it wasnt replaced on the day) and would need to be booked in to get fixed. Also GSI not working - booked in on 18th September and told i have to pay £6 for hire car. Took car in on 18th and when i got back on the evening i was advised they had ordered the wrong part and the computer was down therefore nothing had been done. Telephone call from Staff on 02/12/2020 to advise the parts were in and the computer was working. Service booked for 06/01/2021 - fixed fog light surrounds. Advised need a new clutch pedal as this was missing a spring. Booked in for 18/01/2021. Telephone call on afternoon saying car needs another part for the pedal which didnt realise until stripped pedal. Agreed to leave until afternoon of 19/01/2021. Also reported squeaking on drivers side wheel arch. Advised they could not identify any squeaking. 16/02/2021 noticed car squeaking getting louder, took videos. Telephone call to SG Petch 20/02/2021. Spoke to Staff, booked car in for 05/03/2021. Telephone call from Staff to advise the brake pads need replacing but wont be able to do it until 09/03/2021 due to not having them in stock. Agreed to leave car with them until then. Picked car up on 08/03/2021 after phonecall with Staff who advised work had been done earlier than expected. No further squeaking. 07/04/2021 - got on A66 and lost power at 60mph car wouldnt accelerate properly, resistance with the accelerator pedal. Rang Sg petch at 8:30 and was advised they would ring me back. Telephone call from Staff advised car wouldnt be looked at until 19/04/2021. Advised to drive back to middlesbrough despite car not being safe. Staff told me i needed to arrange recovery myself to get the car to middlesbrough and they could not get me a hire car. Telephone call to finance company who advised they could not help. Telephone call to SG petch advised manager wasnt in. Spoke to Different staff member who arranged for someone to come collect car and said she would look at trying to get me a courtesy car.

Paid over £200 for basically an oil and filter change, paid £120 for the same service for the last two years and was told the difference this time was a pollen filter and the additional labour to change it 😡

Rude, unhelpful, inadequate, unprofessional and for sure the worst Fiat dealer in the UK! Following an independent assessor inspection my insurance decided to take my Fiat for further diagnostic and a compression test to SG Petch in York as recommended by the assessor. I wasn't very happy about sending the car to SG Petch York because one of my friends had an extremely bad experience with an Alfa Romeo bought from them but I had no choice in the matter. My car suffered water ingress into the engine and clear instruction have been communicated to the insurance not to start the engine but SG Petch had different ideas... After one week my insurance rang me and told me that SG Petch checked the car over and according to the Service Manager the car never suffered water ingress and the engine was damaged by normal wear and tear, but could not tell me what kind of test they done to the car. So, I rang SG Petch directly and spoken to Simon and astonishingly he told me that all he did to the vehicle was starting it, letting it idle for 5 minutes, heard the engine knocking, seen some smoke pouring out of the exhaust and concluded that the car had simple wear and tear without checking oil level or anything else... Obviously, Simon got very defensive when I started questioning his diagnostic skills considering that previous assessor already established that water did enter the engine and left traces of it in the air filter housing and also that the level of oil was double on the dipstick. Simon quickly backtracked and explained that he would have to run a diagnostic and perform a compression test to confirm this. Funnily enough that's what the car was sent there for, to have a diagnostic, a compression test and not to be started causing even more damage and delaying claim with totally inaccurate information!! They eventually did a partial dismantle and found water in the engine and compression loss in 2 cylinders but couldn't (wouldn’t) find the cause of the water ingress. The Vehicle was returned to me with top of engine dismantled dumped in the boot, diesel leaked all over the boot mat, clips carelessly left on top of the scuttle panel, with less mileage than when it left my house and to add insult to the injury even with the boot shelf and removable storage containing tools and personal belongings STOLEN from the boot! Oil level tripled on the dipstick and DPF blocked confirming that they started the vehicle many times while the car was with under their “care” and why has the mileage been tampered? I approached the insurance that confirmed to me that the car was never meant to come back to me in that state and that they would have to investigate it further and suggested that I could contact SG Petch directly to speed things up. So, I sent an email to SG Petch which was abruptly answered by the Aftersales Manager asking me to direct any questions to the insurance and not them! I even ended up having to contact FIAT UK customer service to act as intermediary and apparently SG Petch communicated to my insurance that they would only dismantle the engine and not put I back together but none of this is mentioned on the inspection report filled by them. Surely you wouldn't forget to add such important information on your report if that was true? They even lied to FIAT UK telling them that I never asked any technical questions to them, I had to forward my emails to prove that they were blatantly lying. I contacted SG Petch again and had an exchange of email with the Aftersales Manager which was totally unhelpful and not interested in answering or addressing any of my concerns even after Fiat UK customer service advised me to direct my concerns to them for a resolution trough a Technical Ticket that only the dealer can forward to FIAT. Refused to answer or explain why they decided to communicate wrong information to the insurance, why they started the car numerous times knowing that would cause more damage, why items have been STOLEN from it, why they allowed the car to leave their premises with partial dismantled engine and why the mileage has been tampered with... Eventually after a further inspection and my own homework the water ingress that caused the damage was found and claim now closed with extreme delays thanks to the unprofessional attitude of SG Petch in York. Stay well away from this dealer, I wouldn’t trust them to run a bath, never mind run a diagnostic check on a car!

In November 2020 we were asked by an insurance company to inspect and report on the damage incurred to this customers vehicle. They were advised that we would need to strip the vehicle down to do so. The insurance company authorized a limited time for us to proceed. Once this was completed we reported our findings to out client the insurance company in writing. They then asked further questions which required further time authorizing for us to be able to answer, this was declined. The insurers then got the vehicle recovered to another garage for further investigation. At no point were we asked to rebuild the vehicle and it was never ready for return to the owner. When the owner raised the issue he was advised to contact his insurer as they were our customer and his complaint needed to go through them. We have always cooperated fully with the insures and have given an honest assessment throughout. Regards, Martin Cooper Aftersales Manager - SG Petch York

Investigated stiff clutch pedal and 'notchy' gear changes on a 66 reg car. Recommended new clutch. Took car to another garage for second opinion and clutch cable adjusted and now fine. Called SG Petch 3 times to dicuss the issues before I got a reply. Not so much bothered about the new clutch recommendation, more the lack of response from my inital enquiry

CAUTION I would not recommend! I bought a brand new KIA Sportage NX20 UUV, even though it was delivered to the dealership on a low loader they could not explain the 80 miles on the clock. I had to return and rejected the car after technical and gear problems with it. This process took me over 5 months to sort out including getting the Financial Ombudsman involved and the Citizens Advice involved and exercising my rights under the Consumer Act 2015. Poor after sales experience(when i reported the fault a response was 'it was ok when it left the showroom', a courtesy car which was overdue a service which they said was fine, it will get done when you bring it back. Numerous phone calls which they said would be returned were not, even when I contacted them via webchat and was told I would receive a return call it never materialised . Then when I informed them about all this, the response was S G Petch have acted in a professional matter.

Short and simple disgusting service, car handed over In a terrible state 2019 plate. returned to garage to have bodywork and alloy repaird ,returned to pick it up after 9 days at agreed time .-still not ready ,sat over an hour ,taken out to see car ,wheels not cleaned and orange stickers still on ,was assured by several senior management team members from different branches that the car would be perfect......Not the case . Lumps of dry polish all over the car . Not the stunning example on a one owner car as advert described it. Only person I can thank and trusted was Shannon (Durham branch) . ANDREW ,IAN ,AND ONE OF THE OWNERS HIMSELF , promised to sort it all out ,failed to deliver ,£12 Thousand pounds paid and given this kind of service. Big disappoint.

Will not buy from them again. Bought a BMW X3 which had been overfilled on the oil, valeting missed leaves under bonnet and biscuits crumbs in rear seat cup holder. Asked for BMW electrics on towbar tried to get away with putting on universal electrics. Quick to call you when after a sale but reluctant to return calls back. Very poor service.

From the moment I found the car had been advertised at 10,000 miles less mileage than was on it, through being left sitting for over 40 minutes, waiting for the return of the salesman - who never appeared - to picking up a car that had not been valeted, and not full of petrol as promised, the experience was not good. Luckily I like the car!! I would not recommend SG Petch at Darlington, I can only hope my local Branch in Richmond (who I am told can service a hybrid) offer a better service.

I agreed for three jobs to be done on the car prior to collection. 1 out of the 3 was done to a satisfactory level. The steering wheel of the car was still off centre despite the salesman telling me he had checked it. It wasn’t and still isn’t. The rear bumper repair had been done to an incredibly low standard and with the paint match, finish and evidence of masking and cleaning up afterwards just not there. To cap this I had paid for the work to be done. Also the Salesman was arrogant and tried to convince me that the work had been done correctly. The don’t being taken for a fool and I certainly do not like paying for terrible workmanship. A truly bad experience.

Bought a Kia sportage (2 years old with about 7500 miles on the clock) in May 2017. Having had the car for 9 months the car cut out while I was driving along. I was advised at the time that this was due to my fuel filter and that the car was due for a service, so , I paid for the service (about 300 pounds I think if I remember rightly) and the car seemed to be okay again. Obviously after this I made sure my car never missed or was late for a service, so that this didn't happen again. In September I put my car in for a major service once again & I stupidly assumed this would mean the fuel filter would be changed, fast forward to yesterday afternoon and once again my car completely cut out while we were driving on a very busy road with my two children in the back, I called the garage, where only the sales department was open and I was advised someone would call me as soon as they opened in the morning . I called this morning at 8.40, and I was advised someone would call me back in two mins, they didn't, so I called again at 9.30 & I was put through to the service manager who advised it probably was the fuel filter and that it hadn't been changed on my last service because it didn't need changing (I beg to differ when within 3 months it is causing my car to stop mid journey). Clearly regardless of whether or not my car is served regularly my fuel filter is going to keep causing this problem, and I cannot rely on the garage to change it when it is in the garage getting its service. I have been told by the manager there that they drove my car back to Catterick after the service and that no engine lights came on so clearly the fuel filter didn't need changing- so that is the peace of mind I have paid £300 for, knowing it can make it safely 5 miles home. I guess they expect me to wait until my car stops running on the motorway with my kids in the back to find out that it needs to be changed. I have now booked the car in else where for the work, and I will be making sure I tell everyone that listens about the appalling service of this garage.

I have had the most awful experience with SG petch this time around. After multiple members of my mainly purchasing vehicles through the company including myself previously dealing with the same garage, I have been extremely angry with the way I was dealt with and the service provided. I will not be recommending or dealing with in the future once my dealing with SG petch is terminated.

Bought a pre-reg 124 Spider from the Middlesborough dealership. Car was delivered to the Midlands. All appeared fine, but it was clear that the car had been a donor for other cars in the fleet. There were no handles in the roof ( just holes) - this was remediated within two months, but the car also had no handbook (the service book belongs to a Fiat 500) and no puncture repair kit. I have tried to pursue a resolution but all communication from them has now ceased. paying £18k deserves better
