Total time wasters. Was contacted by phone by a member of their sales team inviting me for a "review of my current agreement" I advised I wasn't looking to change my car or spend anything on changing to a newer model. I was told it was a normal meeting and they would check over the car and ensure it was still in good condition and they may be able to save me money either way. None of this happened. They asked for my mileage and got a settlement figure. They didn't look at the car at all. All I was offered was a 24 plate comparative car for a £1500 deposit going against what I advised during the first phone call. Unless you're actually wanting a new car or due for a service, do not engage with SG Petch. You AREN'T a VIP for their next sales event. Reviews of your PCP deal AREN'T routine and they WON'T check over your car. It's all lies and tactics to waste your time and get you in the dealership.

Phoned up to test drive, potentially buy a Kia Sportage that is pre registered and in stock along with multiple others at the Sunderland branch. On arrival we nearly left as there was not one space available for customer parking. Eventually a space became available and parked 20 minutes early for our appointment, after an hour and 3/4 journey. Sales person spoken to who opened the car for us while the sales person our appointment was with dealt with another customer. First impression, if we are driving this car why isn't it out ready to go. Eventually our sales person became available. Sales person took sales manager to value our trade in, eventually they came back suggesting it was difficult to value being a good Landrover. Filled in forms to test drive, this took an age. Sales person was to come with us, not normal at other garages we deal with, good job really as we had to go for fuel too, again why did it not have fuel in ready. My wife and I both drove and liked the car. Back at the desk sales manager offered too low an opening trade in price, but said he'd try some traders, which I would have expected him to do while we were test driving, obviously had not bothered as the Landrover appeared out of his comfort zone. Things dragged on the sales managers, sullen cant be bothered abrupt attitude was quite irritating. I asked for his best price to change, suggesting there needed to be some negotiation as there were none of the benefits of buying a factory order, like service packages or subsidised credit. No price to change given, we left to test drive a volvo, feeing he may as well have said have sex and travel! Now as we are a 4 sometimes 5 vehicle house hold who run multiple businesses we buy at least one vehicle a year sometimes two, and have never left any other dealership feeling this way. Worst attempting to buy a new 40k plus car we have ever experienced.

It took two days to receive an email for a price to replace a set of front brake discs and pads and having responded to accept the price and to arrange booking my car in to have the work carried out, after THREE days I have heard nothing!

Bought a used 4year old Suzuki car for 14k and 2 days after the warranty the engine went bang. Split cylinder and melted other parts. S G Petch didn't want anything to do with it. Insurance wouldn't cover it as it was mechanical. Car had to be scrapped. Would not recommend dreadful aftercare customer service

Not sure I've ever left such a poor review for anywhere, but cannot recommend SG Petch for car maintenance any less. In 2022, I was booked in for a 2 year service as per the manufacturer schedule. They changed it to a 1 year service without consulting me, and after I raised it they went ahead and did the 1 year anyway so I had to bring it back a few weeks later to finish it. Today, I was booked in for a 3 year service and MOT. I had a confirmation email, but it wasn't booked in properly and I wasn't on the list. I now have to spend a fortune on taxis so I can go to work on Tuesday when I bring it in again, and it'll take the whole day instead of just the morning. For the messing around, I was offered my MOT for free. Except my MOT was already supposed to be free after they messed me around last time. Now waiting for a manager to call me, which if previous experiences have taught me, won't be until next week. Additionally, I had to have a warranty repair and was messed around with when it would be ready. Every time I was promised a call, they wouldn't actually call. Spent the week chasing them up for updates and confirmation of a collection date. For my next car, I'll be choosing a brand that doesn't require me to use SG Petch as the only local approved centre.

After spending over £20K with them, I have had zero aftersales care. Initially when I had issues with components missing from my key fob I had zero response from the person who sold me the car. Recently, my car went in for an MOT and Service and the guy who was "Looking after me" was terrible. Nonchalant attitude to when my car would be ready and when I asked to give me an educated guess he would ramble on about getting parts in and not knowing the ETA or how long it would take to work on the car. I have lost all confidence in SG Petch Durham Mazda. All they care about is getting money in their pockets and not for their customers. A lot of sales training needs to be done in that place because as someone who worked in sales, I am embarrassed that there are people like that who treat customers like we're nothing.

Bought a used car for £10,500, we trusted this garage as we thought it was a genuine dealership... We took the car back as the car had faulty brakes, the garage claim the brakes was fine & safe (sqeaking & grinding); however we've just forked out £400 for new discs & pads cause they was ABDOLUTELY SHOT!!! You can put it down to general wear and tear, or you can make good customer repor and do the right thing.... #whereshallitethermyhorse #cowboys

Avoid taking your car here for repair if you want it back the way it goes in. Took my seat in to have brakes done which were flagged on service 6 month previously but I wasn't made aware. Collected car got to top of the road and the front sensor warning light come on and no cruise control which I put down to car been washed as does sometimes affect sensor. Started car following day and still on so wiped sensors and noticed front grill all cracked. Rang numerous times and kept getting told I need to speak to someone else and the call was never connected so I went to dealership. Car booked in to be checked over after been told they needed to check the computer and no surprise denying all knowledge of it. Strange it went in without warnings and damage but comes out with it but it's not down to them. I was replacing the car in 2 month time even had my car chosen but won't be returning to this showroom

Disappointed with the level of service in general from start to finish. Booked the service online but could not find a price. Only when I checked in my car online did a price get displayed. It was more expensive than booking direct through Hyundai directly which I found strange. Told on the day I got to the service desk that there was a recall on the car which would take four hours to complete and then the service on top. Something that takes that amount of time to put right as in this case a coolant recall should not wait until a service to prompt them to tell the customer. Ended up leaving the car at the garage over night as they were pushed for time and I did not want it rushed. Picked the car up the following day and paid. Wasn't too impressed that my dash cam was disconnected which is in there for security and insurance purposes! and as part of the service It is supposed to be washed and footwells hovered out. It didn't happen! Not impressed..... Over priced and zero service. Shame as I have bought a few cars from them I expected better.

We apologize for the inadequate service you received when booking online and for the inconvenience caused by the recall on your car which was not communicated until you were at the service desk. We are sorry that your dash cam was disconnected and that the service did not include a wash nor the footwells being hoovered. We value your feedback and would appreciate knowing how we can make your experience better the next time. Your insights will help us improve the quality of our services.

Poor lack of contact all the way through the process. Advised could finally collect car but was then cancelled 24 hours before collection and paperwork had to be restarted. When waiting for a refund I had to chase and privies bank details 3 times as they were put in the bin. Nobody seems to even care. I would never buy another vehicle from here and would tell everyone to avoid

Booked a test drive at the Middlesbrough branch SG Petch. Turned up on time to find someone had just turned up and they let them test the car and made me wait even though I had the car booked. I left and explained I was unhappy the car went out when I had booked. The Salesman explained first come and the booking made no difference, poor.

Took delivery of new Seat Ibiza on 23/3/23 from Petch Durham. I noticed a loud banging noise coming from the rear passenger left hand side whenever I went over any uneven ground. The noise continued so on 17/04 I rang the garage and asked for a diagnostic check to be carried out but couldn’t get a slot until 18/5/23 a month later. I decided to take it to my local Seat dealer under the warranty and managed to get a slot for the same week. When I collected the car I was told that a chock had been left under the rear of the vehicle when it had come off the low loader and that was responsible for the banging noise. The car had a pre delivery check carried out before I got it and this wasn’t spotted. Seems as if when anything goes wrong Petch are in no hurry to put things right. You would expect better treatment when buying a new car. This is my 5th new car from Petch, so much for customer service. Not impressed.

I purchased a car from this dealership earlier this year. Whilst in the process of the purchase, I asked the Sales Advisor (who was actually very helpful at the time) about the service history of the car, I was informed that the car held a main dealer history. However, when coming to sell the car, it’s transpired that the car had no previous service history and the dealership were fully aware of this. Not only would I not have purchased the car, I’m now at a considerable loss due to the car being worth less than I thought due to the misrepresentation at the point of sale. I’ve discussed this matter with General Manager Iain Ward, who rather alarmingly told me that despite what I was told by their Sales Advisor, I should’ve checked this myself. I found Iain to be quite standoffish whilst dealing with my complaint, at first denying they knew and claiming a previous employee had informed them that the car had service history hence their claim to me, to then tell me that they sold the car at a loss and cheaper than usual because they knew it had no service history. After rejecting their small offer of compensation (less than 1/3 of my total loss) and reviewing case studies on the ombudsman website, I’ve since raised the case to the Ombudsman and will await their feedback. I think all customers should be aware that the dealership have seemingly knowingly lied to me at the point of sale and their own General Manager has implied I shouldn’t trust the word of his Sales Advisors - Strange considering they won dealership of the year in 2019, obviously a lot has changed since then.

Mr Thompson. I think it might be best to allow the Motor Ombudsman to mediate this dispute. I’m sorry it has come to this as we pride ourselves on giving great customer service with honesty/integrity throughout the whole process.

I have an ongoing insurance claim from December, Storm Arwen, and i am still waiting to get my car fixed. i am finally booked in for March but no one in 3 months has rang me to do this. i originally booked myself online in December then to be told my parts hadn't been ordered and to wait for a phone call. then no phone call until i have to ring back up. 3 months is shocking, even if it is busy. i have had to buy new wiper blades to get me through the 3 months whilst waiting. if my MOT had ran out then i wouldn't be able to have drove the car as it would have failed, luckily it hadn't. appalling service so far and my car is not even in the garage yet.

Just before Xmas I contacted your service dept to have a damaged wheel replaced on my 208. Parts were contacted and a replacement wheel ordered for fitting on Dec 17th. I was told to have the vehicle there for 0900. 4 hours later I am told that the wheel cannot be fitted because some panel on the old wheel were damaged and couldn't be used on the new. I was told to leave it until the new year when the necessary parts would be available. In January I arranged another appointment and followed through with a further call to ensure that everything was ok. Today (11/01) I spent 3 hours waiting for the job to be done only to be told that the replacement wheel did not match the old and that a new wheel will have to be ordered. Why was this not spotted on the initiaI abortive visit in December? I have been given assurances that this time you'll get it right though I have to say my confidence in the competence of your organisation has almost hit rock bottom. If you cannot manage a simple wheel replacement how will you manage to do a more complicated service? Seven hours of my time has been wasted through the inept handling of this job.
