I am writing this review of Mango Bikes as a customer that ordered a bike and accessories nearly 2 months ago and has not received their order yet. As is the case with many people post-lockdown, I decided to purchase a single speed bike this summer and chose Mango due to a number of recommendations given to me by friends. Their website and product list was great and the option to customise my order at an affordable price with a lead time of only 4 weeks (estimated dispatch date was initially the end of July) seemed like great value, especially considering the increase in demand for bikes in lockdown. Having received no updates in the first 2 weeks following my order, I checked the order status to make sure everything was still on track. I noticed that the estimated delivery time had been moved back to the start of August which again, given the demand and subsequent strain this must have had on Mango's supply chain, seemed perfectly reasonable. I sent an email to Mango to notify them that I was going on holiday at the start of August and asking if I could arrange for the order to be shipped to an alternative address. After a week had passed with no response, I followed up again. I also decided to check reviews for Mango on Google and Trustpilot in addition to looking at customer feedback on Instagram and Facebook. I was alarmed to see the overwhelming number of customers who not only had experienced very long delays in their orders but also had received little to no communication from Mango despite trying every means possible to contact them. Without going into a full account of my experience in the last 2 months, what has followed has been constant attempts by myself to contact Mango just looking for a shred of information on the status of my order. In return, I have received a couple of non-committal emails from their customer service team offering an apology for their "scruffy" communication and promising weekly order updates ongoing. These promises have turned out to be false (my last communication from Mango was on the 30th July, 25 days ago). My estimated order dispatch dates remains "the start of August" on their website, meanwhile the reviews and comments from other customers in a similar position to myself continues to escalate on review sites and social media. I am fairly confident that Mango Bikes' products are of good value and quality given the reviews and feedback I have seen and heard from customers that have actually received their orders. However, I feel it is important that potential future customers are aware of just how poor the customer service is. I have never experienced a company that is so oblivious and dismissive of genuine customer demands simply for updates on the status of their orders. I fully appreciate the challenge of increased demand in unprecedented times, however the fact that Mango continues advertise on social media and respond to positive feedback on review sites whilst ignoring month-old customer queries is shameless and infuriating. The company seems to have adopted an approach of "our products are great, you just need to patient", which is neither a fair nor effective approach to take to consumers who have purchased expensive items in good faith and have no idea when or if they will receive their orders. In short, I have attempted to contact Mango Bikes using the following means: -6 unanswered phone calls, 2 unanswered voicemail messages. -9 emails, 3 of which were responded to with promises of an updated ETA which has not yet been received. -20+ messages on their in-site chat engine. 3 responses received, all non-committal, none of which have been followed up by Mango. -Numerous Twitter and Instagram messages, all of which have been ignored. I do look forward to eventually receiving my order and being able to finally enjoy my purchase. However, I would wholeheartedly advise against purchasing from Mango Bikes to any potential buyers. To date, they continue to sell bikes through their website whilst also claiming their supply chain has been stretched beyond capacity to such an extent that not one person in their organisation is available to respond any customer queries. Their apparent greed in continuing to take orders has superseded their need to invest in any customer service resource. A simple "out of stock" communication would seemingly alleviate some of the issues caused by the growth which their CEO has claimed has come "too quickly" for their liking in his last blog post. However, whilst claiming that the growth is unwanted, Mango continues to take orders without regard for production capacity. I have included examples of the stock responses that have been sent out by Mango in the 2 months since my order was placed. If anyone from Mango reads this, I would once again implore you to respond to my requests for updates on order 37142. I would direct you back to my emails which have presumably not been read in the last month due to the radio silence. Thanks.

Worst Experience; AVOID AT ALL COSTS It took 16 weeks for a bike to arrive. No emails, tweets, DMs, or calls were answered or returned, including ten emails requesting a cancellation and refund. Pawned off with empty excuses and treated like I was not human. It was genuinely awful and I wish I could return the bike but I don't think I'd get a refund. Avoid at all costs

Lovely, excellent bike. Terrible wait for it. Eventually managed to get through to the team, and Andrew was very helpful when eventually contactable. Great bike, hugely overwhelmed team. Customer service needs SERIOUS work.

I ordered a bike when your website had no information about delays to the normally expected 4 week turn around. I presumed because of this my bike should be delivered in or around that 4 week mark. From the point of order right up until delivery my order page has an expected delivery date of late June. Once this date passed I emailed for an updated and received no reply. Instead, after 8 weeks (mid July) I got an email which went to everyone waiting, to tell me you had no frames and were waiting for them to come from China. Mine would be assigned, painted and I’d have my bike in 3 weeks. This is information that should have been communicated before you’d breached the delivery time you’d already quoted. Oh after. I waited 3 weeks, I heard nothing so I emailed again. Again no response. Again a week later a generic email went out to everyone now saying you had no wheels but they were on a boat in Europe and again my bike should be complete and shipped within 3 weeks. On the Friday of week 3 I got an email to say it had been shipped and early the next week it was delivered. I was excited to finally get my bike and the accessories I’d purchased 3 months before hand. The bike arrived and I removed all the items from the box to check them before I started to build it and noticed a small package missing. The one containing the tools, instructions, reflectors and bell. Luckily I had or could borrow tools to build the bike and followed along with your videos online but actually without the instruction sheet I wasn’t 100% confident I was doing everything right. Again I emailed and again I’ve had no response. The bike seems fine now I’ve been out on it a couple of times but honesty the experience has really soured my love for it. Similarly while checking up if I was the only person having issues, seeing a blog from the owner calling customers like me who are frustrated with huge delays and zero communication from the company trolls and rude doesn’t feel like it’s coming from the best place. If you were providing the service you’d offered, in the time you’d proposed and kept people updated about delays in advance so they could make informed decisions this might have felt valid. Instead it felt like a child throwing a tantrum as they were given into trouble and wouldn’t accept their own failings.

I absolutely love my mango bike! I’m a nurse who would normally walk to work as I always thought it‘s too close to cycle (1.25miles!!) but with covid-19 kicking off, having to get changed at work my tardy timekeeping skills it was suddenly a rush and a faff to walk and get changed. So I started to ride my husbands Mango single speed. My ‘commute’ takes me 6 minutes and there is a slight incline to work, with one hill I have to stand up and pedal to get to the top of, I absolutely love my 6 mins of exercise, the single speed makes the cycle worthwhile and feels likes a bit of a workout. My husband, kindly, bought me my own single speed, which was ordered the start of May, during the lockdown craziness it did take 2 months to come and I changed the colour combo slightly as the world had gone bike ordering mad, but I always had good honest communication from mango. I certainly was not disappointed when it arrived. I love the whacky colours, I smile every time I look at it, and everyone comments on my bike, I fitted a rack and use my pannier to carry my work stuff, and it has totally rekindled my love of cycling. Although I love cycling, I got into a bad habit of not bothering to cycle anything less than 40 miles! Which ultimately meant I did less and less cycling! Owning a single speed is an absolute game changer, and now I don’t only cycle to work, but also cycle to bootcamp, run club, to meet my pals, and my hubby and I will cycle our matching single speeds to the pub! One week I clocked up 60 miles, without actually going for a ‘bike ride’, these days my first thought is ‘Can I ride my bike there?’. Thank you Mango!!

i love the bike now i have it! a 4 month wait was just ridiculous but i understood the time we are in. I'm meant to get money sent back for not getting my cage pedals and i haven't had that yet? But i'd definitely get another bike on the off chance it won't take so long, customer service was a bit slack but they kept me updated when i needed it and understood they were going through a crazy period.

I ordered my bike with order number 34948 on 9 May. Whilst initially the student discount code didn't work, I reached out to Mango and they kindly gave me a voucher for more than the discount and I bought some accessories in anticipation of receiving my bike. On 13 August, three months and four days after ordering, I received my bike, put it together (as suggested by Mango to let them know if anything is damaged in shipping within 24 hours of receipt) and then patientily waited for a dry day to ride it. I initially was really happy with the bike and how it looked and couldn't wait to go out on it. Sadly, in testing the bike on a slow first ride with my brother (who bought a bog standard Decathalon Bike in lockdown), it was immediately apparent there were some issues with my bike. I really didn't want to write a negative review of Mango but I emailed them with photos and a video and I have had no response at all so far which really is irritating after waiting so long for the bike without any updates as to when I may expect delivery. Firstly, my rear wheel has arrived and there's a big wobble in it. I sent a video to Mango showing it needs 'truing' which for a bike novice like me, is something I am unable to do. A kind passer by on my ride tried to see if he could rectify it but didn't have the correct tools on him. Secondly, the bike crank pedal hole has completely sheared off. I definitely have put the pedal in the correct side and screwed it in straight and securely. All I want to do is send these parts back and receive new parts under warrranty but after messaging Mango (and knowing they've read my message as they use Gist) I've had no response at all. Mango has the potential to be such a good company, but needs to get its administration in order.

Ordered my bike on the 29th April as the website touted a 1 week build time. Albeit Covid-19 affected global supply chains; I wasn't given an estimated build date until after 8 weeks. This date was then changed twice. I contacted Mango bikes multiple times and got no response until I was eventually told there was an issue with "delivery of wheels" and that my bike would be made a "priority" build that week....two weeks later still no bike and was then advised wheels were being sent in "batches". Basically lied to about 3-4 times about when I would get the bike. Eventually waited over 9 weeks until it was delivered which worked out at 48 working days. Their blog posts calling customers "trolls" for trying to get products they have paid for are in poor taste and I wouldn't recommend anyone order a bike from them. Mango; don't accept orders for new bikes until you can fulfill the demand for the ones ordered months before. My friend also ordered hers at the beginning of June and is having the exact same experience.

Hi William Sorry you had to wait for your bike. our order is one is most badly affected so apologies for this. Demand has been unprecedented and then some more. Supply chains struggling to keep up. Our service has dropped for sure but our bikes remain awesome as ever. The blog about trolling was most definitely not about customers wanting information. That's totally fine and understandable but a minority have taken things too far (posting staff personal social media profiles, leaving messages threatengin to "pay us a visit", etc). That is trolling. We're also much clearer with schedules and expected dispatch dates. Orders placed now (August) for example will be built October. Sorry you feel let down by us, we're getting back on track. Hoepfully you can ride happy now you've got your bike.

Really love my single speed! it took a while to arrive due to issues with supply and demand but it was totally worth the wait!

The bike itself is a thing of beauty. One day out on it and almost an annoying amount of people made comments on it. Assembly was simple and quick. The extended wait due to coronavirus was annoying, of course. But the staff at Mango have managed the issues and communicated with me exelentely. And now the bike is here, it all seems worth it.

I ordered my bike back in May and received it halfway through August. Understandable due to the world wide pandemic. I was kept up to date with my order and received good tracking information ( though the final leg was a bit of a mare arranging a time to deliver in which someone was home ) but other than that, very happy. Bike easy to assemble and fun ride! Which is the most important part after all. 🤟

I ordered a simple, single speed bike from Mango in May 2020. I finally received it last week (August 2020). It's the same story with Mango bikes, slow build times, and absolutely sub standard communication. I chose Mango out of an ideal to support a company that was standing on their own, away from the main names in bike building. But what I wasn't expecting was such poor customer service. Multiple enquiries and requests for updates went ignored. Occasionally a generic copy and paste email would be sent out to the masses telling stories of supply issues. But Mango already know this. I was disheartening to see friends bike orders from the companies turning up within days of their orders, while the wait for my order just dragged on and on. Yes, the bike build is very good so far. But has it been worth the outrageously long and agonising wait?...I would like to say yes, but the truth is no. It hasn't. The experience has left a slightly sour taste to the whole thing, truth be told. I can only hope that nothing goes wrong with my bike as I would be massively discouraged to deal with Mango again, simple due to the poor customer service. A real shame because they come across as such a good company.

The bike it's self is great and I couldn't happier, it's just a shame Mango couldn't have been more honest in the first place about their lead times. When I contacted them regarding my order they didn't even bother to respond, awful service

Not the best customer service, wont pick up the phone and takes days for them to reply to an email. Waited for my bike for 10 weeks, was super happy when it finally arrived and I loved it! Unfortunately it was stolen 2 days after I got it. Too stylish for London I suppose.. PLEASE contact me if you see it. isabella.osterlund@hotmail.com

Bought my Point Blank 2 years ago and couldn't be happier. Love my bike and everyone at Mango were really helpful. Since then I've purchased more bike parts and accessories to upgrade my bike and can't recommend Mango enough. Excellent quality and great costumer service. Thanks to everyone at Mango.

Getting fed up with punctures, I was struggling to source Gatorskin tyres at local bike shops and ordered them from Mango Bikes online. They came very quickly and with a little packet of sweets which was great!
