Ordered a pair of shoes on line. Two days later they e mailed me to say they were out of stock. Still waiting for my refund. Very disappointed.

Thank you for your review. This order was placed and sent out to you with DPD, however I can see that a different order with us was cancelled as we had no stock. We do apologise for this and can assure you that your refund has been made and should show back into your account within 4 working days. I also sent an email to you via the order. We do apologise that this has happened. On the odd occasion demand can exceed supply and this is what has happened on this occasion. We are genuinally sorry for your inconvenience. Ordered to be delivered to Matalan, never arrived, told by Charles Clinkard that Matalan no longer accepts DPD deliveries and it was on its way back to them! Matalan DO accept DPD as I went for 3 days on the trot and they had deliveries every day! Got money back & re-ordered on the 8th but had no confirmation its been dispatched yet, kind of lost faith of ever getting this bag :-(

I am usually very pleased with Charles Clinkard and have been shopping with this company for years. This time the boots, although listed available online were not. I ordered the boots and a pair of slippers. The slippers were an add on. I was charged for the boots and had to write to customer service. The charge was credited but since there was a day between the transactions I was charged about 50 cents in exchange rate for the error. I was disappointed with the experience because I would not have ordered the slippers alone and pay the shipping. The exchange rate fee although small was annoying as it was the company's error. I was told that the boots were not available in the color I ordered but I was not asked if I would like another color.

Hello Thank you for your review. We are happy to see you are normally pleased with the service provided for your previous orders, we really value your custom. Unfortunately, the boots you ordered come directly from a supplier, we do try to manage the stock levels as accurate as possible but as they are not in our warehouse they can sometimes be out of stock before we are updated. I’m sorry for any inconvenience caused. You should have been contacted to check if you would have just liked the slippers sending out. I have contacted you privately to resolve the matter. Quality of shoes not as described and down side spent £55 and £11 to return at least over the cost of returns and then maybe consider exchange.did not though the risk of wrong size only to pay more money to return. Will not use again had to chase refund on a couple of occasions.

Hello Thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear how much you paid to return your order to us, You can return your order to any of our stores for free. You can purchase a collect plus label from our website for £4.50 or you can also use Royal Mail, second class tracked service this can start from as little as £3.30 which are all much cheaper options. When your order comes back to us, it can take up to 3 working days to process your return depending on quantity of returns, I can see your refund was issued instantly once processed. Speedy email acknowledgement of order and then an email stating despatched Then never received a tracking number from courier, or any contact from the store I was collecting from to say it had arrived - I had to chase to see where it was - not a great experience overall, although the boots were great!

When an item is to be collected from store as this one is, we do email to say it has been dispatched as you received, but do not have a tracking number as this is taken to the store along with other items using our own van. I am sorry if you were waiting for a tracking number. With regard to the store letting you know that the order had arrived, I am sorry that this had not happened, but there is no telephone number on your order for them to call you. I buy Gabor shoes regularly from Clinkard but on this occasion, I was returning a pair of boots that I had ordered online which I couldn't even get on. The assistant refunded my purchase but was so overbearing when I was trying to find another pair. I asked for Gabor shoe boots but she had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually, I was persuaded to order a pair of Gabor blue Sherbert shoe boots to replace the pair I was having problems with. I was phoned on 2 separate days to say my order had arrived and went to pick them up today. The leather on the new shoes was so crumpled I didn't even try them on. The assistant said that, that particular shoe was like that. This is not true. My old sherbert shoes which I wore last year are immaculate but they creak on wearing this year. I took them with me just to check that if I bought the new pair the same thing wouldn't happen. Both assistants couldn't help just gave me a telephone no for Gabor. I have travelled from Pontefract twice this week to Meadowhall to buy your shoes. Each time there have been no other customers but me, and I am not surprised considering your staff's lack of customer care.

Unfortunately cost of returns is up to the buyer. Boots were heavy so ended up £15 out of pocket, won't use CC again for this reason

This is a review of the Gabor shoes I purchased, which were marked as a size 8 but in reality they were about a size 6. This is a manufacturing problem but I would have thought that Charles Clinkard would insist that all the merchandise they sell is true to size. I normally wear a 7 or 7.5 but deliberately ordered a larger size and couldn't even get them on. Then I had the dubious 'pleasure' of having to pay to return them....

I love the boots they are so comfortable and look good but unfortunately when it rains I’ve got wet feet, I wouldn’t have thought they are a fashion boot and expected my feet to be warm and dry ☹️

Only 1 pair out of 3 fitted, although correct size for me. Not happy paying over £5.00 for returns. After many years as a customer will not buy again from CC. Will be unsubscribing.

Thank you for your review. I can see that you have ordered 3 different brands of shoes, and unfortunately they can differ a little. You can return the shoes to a Charles Clinkard store if you wish, they will arrange the refund for you, you have up to one year to do this so long as unworn. There is also a link on our website to Collect + for £4.49 which covers up to 10 kilo of returns. We do hope that you find something that is a better fitting for you. I ordered boots in size 5. I am an extremely average size 5. I never need size 5.5 or 6. The boots were very small. I would say a size 4. I have to pay £4.50 to return them. A very disappointing experience. I wouldn't buy from Charles Clinkard online again.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you found the boots to be too tight for you. We sell many brands and some do differ slightly to others on occasion. Fit is a very personal thing. We do deliver free of charge, but ask the customer to return at their own cost, or take back to a Charles Clinkard store, we do allow up to 365 days for you to do this. Unfortunately the shoes have not arrived yet!!! They are not now expected until the 28th. I ordered them on the 16th. that's 12 days and they might not even arrive then Your delivery company has let both you and me down Derek Herbert

We paid extra for next day delivery. Next day should mean you get the order the following day. Especially true these days when DPD and the like do exactly that- even on a Sunday. I suppose we should have guessed it was never going to be achieved when they opt for Royal Mail , despite knowing of the strikes and backlogs. Please use DPD if you want good reviews

Thank you for your review. We do use DPD and Royal Mail, however our next day service does state Next day delivery is a guaranteed next working day service for orders placed before 5pm. This does not include the weekends. I am sorry to hear that you were expecting your order on the Saturday, Royal Mail often deliver on a Saturday for us, but we do not have a contract with DPD for a weekend delivery service. So I hate when these automated emails come out when I actually haven't got my item and although they were due to be delivered a week ago and there is no tracking change from last Monday apparently thy are not lost.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry for the delay of the delivery of your order. I have checked the tracking on DPD and it has updated today to say that it is confirmed at depot and consigned for the onward journey. On Monday I will check that this has moved forward again and get in touch with DPD if not. Unfortunately we do not have our own courier and we have to use an external courier, we are aware that there are delays this year due to industrial actions, and this has had a knock on effect with other couriers too. Unfortunately the box containing the items was squashed and so cannot be given as the Christmas gift I had planned.The hat is fine to give but the cup also was slightly marked so can not give as a gift as intended.I would have been better trying to source the items locally.Disappointing!

Boots arrived. Box badly damaged. As this was a present contacted store at meadowhall and explained these were a Xmas present. After a 28 mile round trip still disappointed. The box in the shop had sellotape on 2 corners holding the box together. I have now bought a gift box.
