The choice of shoes from Charles Clinkard was great, and the ones I ordered were delivered promptly and in good condition. The problem arose with returns. When you look at how to return online returns, there's a link to click to find stores where they can be returned in-store. However, there is very small small print underneath many of those stores saying that they do not take returns for shoes bought online. That needs to be much bigger, or there needs to be a different section for stores that only take returns for items purchased at that branch, and stores that take returns from other branches or from online. I ended up having to return by post, at significant expense. I would not have bought the shoes online if I had realized.

I am sorry to hear the returns process was more challenging than expected, our aim is to provide hassle free returns so it is disappointing this has not been the case. Only items purchased in concessions can be returned to them but online orders can be taken to any of our branches. This is outlined under each shop on the website list but I can pass on your comments regarding the font not being clear enough. This is also highlighted on the Returns Page of our website where we also have a portal to create a Royal Mail label for £3.20. This information should have been on your invoice and our Customer Service Team is available 7 days a week if you have any queries or need assistance. I bought on-line, but it took ages to order as they wanted password etc. Never had this before. Product fine . Shame because it would put me off using their website again.

Delivery seemed to be a long process and unable to track on Royal Mail or other provider. Also did not receive any contact from store.

However, you should have been contacted by the branch by phone or email when it had been delivered. I apologise if these notifications were not received. I ordered a pair of sandals for delivery to the store at Eldon Square Newcastle thinking it might be quicker than home delivery. Silly me, it was painfully slow over a week and I had to phone the appalling customer service team who asked if I wanted them to ring the store to see if the sandals had been delivered, well of course I did! Went to collect the following day, the store was painfully slow to serve anyone. I realise they need to talk to people but really waiting over ten minutes is just not on. All in all a terrible experience and it will make me think twice before ordering again. Glad to say the sandals are gorgeous though.

Twice I have asked for my order to come by Royal Mail even if I had to pay extra. Was my request followed through even though I was told it would be and what happened - low and behold it came by an independent delivery which causes me problems so please do not sweeten me by agreeing to use Royal Mail and once my order has been taken my request is ignored. Your customer query office will confirm this.

Unfortunately the shoes arrived with worn laces. I now have the trouble of sending the shoes back. Why wasn’t the shoes checked before shipping out. Frustrating.

Re Gabor Nulon Trainers I recently bought these Trainers in dark blue and I was fairly confident they were going to fit as I got 1/2 size bigger plus I made sure they were wide fit. I had checked the online reviews too which were positive. I was disappointed that after a long walk, all my toes had rubbed against the top of the shoes and were red because they had blistered. Whilst wide fit, the depth of the shoes in the toe region was narrow. I hope this helps people who are thinking of buying these trainers. This is the second pair of shoes from Gabor that has the same problem and as a result, I will stop buying from this brand even though they look nice online.

While it's great to hear you chose a wide fit and considered size adjustments, it’s disappointing to learn about the discomfort you experienced during your walk. This style features a removable insole allowing you to easily adjust the fit, or add a custom orthotic or insole for added comfort and support. This would mean that when you take the first insole out, the area within the shoe is more roomy and should create a better fit for you. Just purchased these online. At £25 I wasn't expecting leather however, both the product information and description on this site state they are. When they arrived, surprise, surprise SYNTHETIC!!! Same shoes on Next and Clarks website DO NOT say leather. Very misleading from Charles Clinkard.

This is the first time I have been disappointed with the company. I ordered a size 8, they arrived but they are actually 41 not a 42! Very frustrating & disappointing.

The company clearly cares about the service it wants to give to its customers. The order and delivery process was excellent and the bag came nicely presented. However the bag's clasp was scratched and the chain clunky and cheap looking, whilst the bag itself felt nice quality leather. Returned on this occasion but I will be back.

I ordered online to be delivered to the shop, but unfortunately it took several days to arrive. The staff in the shop are always very pleasant and helpful. Excellent service from the staff, delivery could be quicker.

The shoe designs are really nice. I got the Belva Mary Jane court shoes. They are a bit small to wear though but I got them in the largest size they do, so have had to use a shoe stretcher which isn't ideal. Hopefully they can start doing larger sizes in-store and online.

Two pairs of expensive trainers purchased. One had to go back, too much hassle Royal Mail were a nightmare to deal with. Paid for return, could not be collected by postman. Could not get my money back for return as no links to contact! I sm unable to drive currently and thus has not been my best experience with Charles Clinkard.

I always buy Reiker and sent for a pair of sandals in the pink colour . I already had the same in blue .so expected the same quality but they were nowhere near the same. The blue were a sturdy leather but these were more flimsy . The straps were not leather . The beigh part looks a bit grubby . I did ring up and stress my disappointed but I needed them to take on holiday the following day . Lorna Pudge

Bought partner a lovely pair if Bugatti shoes. They look smart and are very comfortable on, he's only worn them twice and stitching has come away on both shoes. I was asked to give a review but I sent an email explaining the stitching had come away and I have had no response. The price of the shoes I wouldn't expect both shoes to have issues.

Unfortunately the shoes - Van Dal - were very uncomfortable and I returned them. I was particularly disappointed as the previous 3 pairs of Van Dal trainers had fitted perfectly. On the plus side the return was fairly easy and the refund very efficient.

Website: 1) slow. 2) Please display the soles to see if traction is suitable. 3) Please provide heel height in product details to help easy selection. Positive: 1) Delivery - efficient. 2) Packaging inside shoe boxes - clean & tidy, plenty of clean tissue papers to protect the shoes, no longer feel like receivng a pair of shoes which have been tried and returned. Negative: Postal packaging - 2 recent parcels arrived torn and shoe boxes (mostly the lids) were damaged - as if receiving items fell off from the back of a truck! Upmarket merchandise, but down market packaging?! Negative impact on consumer psychology: I don't feel special when receiving the order. Suggestion: 1) Perhaps, the warehouse staff ought to be trained to close the parcel bag tightly wrapped round the boxes to minmise the possibility of bashing each other in a roomy bag, and could reduce the bag got caught and scratched with other parcels in transit. Do leave a handle though for easy handling for the delivey men. That's how I return your products. 2) If budget allows, packaged like John Lewis - boxes of shoes were packed in a box, with paper stuffing for protection. Subsequently, I feel valued and respected as their customer, and happy to shop with them again. Thank you for listening and keep improving your service. Excellent customer service otherwise!
