I think that paying postage to receive an item and then paying further postage to return an item will definitely put me off buying from you again.

Thank you for your review. Any order over £40 will not be charged postage, we did not charge you for the delivery. We do ask if customers can cover the cost of returns, or take back to a Charles Clinkard store. You do have 2 not too far from you and you have up to a year to return them so long as unworn. I love the design and style of many of your shoes, so I ordered 5 pairs to see how will they fit my 3 yo daughter. Unfortunately only one or two pairs were suitable. When I prepared the parcel for return I’ve realised that I have to cover the cost myself, and of course pay for recorded delivery, which unfortunately it makes my last order with the company, as it’s not cost effective. I found two Charles Clinkards shops within 20 mins drive, yet you can’t return them if you purchased online.

Thank you for your review. You can take returns back to any main Charles Clinkard store where you can return for free, or you can choose any postal service that you wish. Royal Mail second class with tracking is the cheapest method, but if you choose signed for next day for example, that would be expensive. There is no need to choose this method, as second class only take 24 hours longer to arrive and we process all returns within 3 working days. There is also a link on our website where for £4.49 you can return up to 10 kilo. This link is to Collect + who have outlets where you can drop off your package. I hope that this information is of help should you change your mind and do order again in the future. You also have up to 365 days to return an item so long as unworn. Shoes arrived in a battered box which must have happened before dispatch as a "botched repair job" had been completed using cellotape. Small refund was agreed but totally underwhelmed when I opened the package. Would have expected more from such a reputable supplier

I ordered a pair of Fly London boots in the sale. They arrived without any brand packaging or the brand box. This was not mentioned on the website and so was not the reason for the sale price. As they were a birthday present this was very disappointing. I rang customer services and spoke to Cari on Friday 23rd Feb and she said that she would find out if you could find the Fly London packaging to send to me and that she would ring me within a couple of days. This has not happened. I am happy with my Fly London boots and with the sale price, but I am not happy with your customer service, nor the failure to state on-line that the boots were without any brand packaging or labels. This makes me question whether they were display boots or returns and I feel therefore that a further discount would have been appropriate. I would have reconsidered my purchase if I had known, but it was too late to return by the time they arrived, as you had sold out.

I bought two pairs of gabor shoes and I always buy size 5. Both these pairs are too small and there is no returns label and i have to pay the postage to get the shoes and then to return them. Wont be buying on line ever again. And there is no Clinkard shop near me.

Having worked for many years in a shoe shop, I know the importance of checking a pair of shoes before a sale, sadly this was not my experience with Charles Clinkard as the shoes I ordered were in the wrong box ! This meant they were the wrong size and had to be retuned. I then made my purchase elsewhere.

I ordered a pair of school shoes and a pair of wellies for which payment was taken. I was then called to be told that the school shoes are actually unavailable. I have not yet received a refund for the unavailable shoes and am somewhat disappointed with the overall experience.

I ordered two pairs of the ‘Helen Womens Sports Trainers’ in the colour Visone Nubuck, one for myself in size 6 and one for my sister in size 5.5. Unfortunately, what I received was the correct pair for myself along with, what I think must be, a pair of ‘Aloe Womens Trainers’ in the colour Antique Rose in size 5.5, i.e. I was sent a different style AND colour from the one I ordered. There is even a mismatch in the label for the latter pair of trainers as this is for a Helen Visone Nub/Mesh. While the style and colour are possibly just about similar enough to explain the mix up, it means that I now have the inconvenience of spending time dealing with the return for the shoes intended for my sister, taking it to the post office (as it’s over £50 in value) and having to argue about getting a refund for the correct amount of money including the money spent for returning an incorrect item. I will leave feedback with Trustpilot once I have completed the return. I gave 2 out of 5 Stars, as I do like the ‘correct’ trainers I ordered for myself and they are well-made and comfortable.

I bought some school shoes in a size 7 and 8 thinking I was buying adult sizes as they stated size 7 and 8 when they came they where toddler sizes if the sizing had said 7k and 8k I wouldn't have bought them but customer service was great so refunded for items maybe need to change size labelling

We do describe on our website junior if they are the larger sizes so that people know that they are not toddlers. Shoes arrived promptly and are a good fit. My grip is, that I can never get the discounts promised. I.e. 10/15% off your next order. It just never ever happens. I do everything right, but no joy. It feels like a con, or false marketing.

The boots arrived quickly. Unfortunately I have had to return them as they were far too big. They also had quite a long scuff on the right boot and a small scuff as well. I decided not to exchange them because I was unsure what size I would need. I was also bothered about receiving another pair that were damaged. Disappointed to be honest

Before buying I asked about the width fitting on a pair of Gabor shoes and was told they were a Gabor standard fit which I wanted. I found that far from standard they are extra wide and actually longer than the Gabor shoes I got early in the year. Has no one checked them? I am now faced with having to get them back to you and to finding a suitable alternative pair. Not your normal standard of service.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I'm sorry to hear your purchase doesn't fit as expected. I can confirm they are a C+ width, meaning a regular fit. You're correct in saying the item you purchased earlier in the year is the same width fitting. However, they are different style of shoe. We would always recommend trying a style that's the same width, but unfortunately, we can never guarantee a fit, as they may not fit the same for everyone. As you have suggested, should you need to return them in the post, you cover the cost. We recommend Royal Mail or Collect +, where you can return from as little as £4.99. Whilst I received a full refund the quality of the shoes sent to me was very poor. I ordered two pairs of the same make, just different sizes. One pair came in a large brown box, with very little tissue paper. The leather upper was coming away from the sole. It was clear from looking at the sole someone had worn these 'outside' that there were small stones and hair trapped in the tread.

I have purchased Charles Clinkard leather slippers before and always been satisfied. My new pair however are somewhat large for a size 7 and I wish I had purchased a size 6. I could not return them as I wore them for 2 days and now have to use an insert so they stay on.

I have taken a look at a previous online order from us, (the same brand but different style) back from 2021 and you actually had a size 6 on that occasion. Digusted with the way they were sent out the packaging was all damaged and taped together for the price of the sandal it was very poorly presented. Definitely will NOT be using Charles Clinkard ever again

When I order something online I expect it to be delivered to the delivery address given I work away and only return Friday evening you chos DPD to deliver my parcel who don’t deliver to my address but their collection point in the next village. They are a lazy setup getting paid and not producing a service My mother 88 has to get the bus from North Shields to Backworth pharmacy the pick up point as all other family members are at work through the day I am at present in communications with John Lewis and Fenwicks over same issue and as their customer support teams are dealing with it I hope yours will too and present a substantial answer as to why DPD don’t deliver to address on parcel failing in this matter I will not use Charles Clinkards again. Thank you for your review. Looking at your order tracking, it appears that you have in the past, requested a delivery to a DPD pick up shop. This will now default to all of your orders going to the same pick up shop with DPD unless you change your information with them. We use DPD and Royal Mail, when we send an order out, as we do not have our own courier, we are unaware of any arrangement you may have with DPD. This will be why other stores also have delivery to the pick up shop for you and the orders are not going to your home address. If you prefer not to have a DPD delivery, we can send out using Royal Mail. Just let us know by phone or email that you would like us to use Royal Mail along with your order number and we will put this instruction onto your order. I hope that this helps. Kind regards, Janice
