This may have happened as delivery was not paid at checkout, as UK was set as the destination country, despite shipping internationally. Looked good when arrived and had checked size in store just got different colour however even through it was explained in store I need a shoe suitable for a child with high instep and protruding ankle bones I was assured they would be fine however one day I’d wear and they have killed his feet meaning I have had to purchase another pair of shoes at great expense not happy at all and I have shopped at this store for over 10 years

Meadow Hall shop staff very nice and helpful, we're able to order an item not in stock ( on size) for home delivery. Unfortunately, the shoes were too big and returning them via post cost £11.50. A day later an email confirmed they had been received returned and a refund would be issued, still waiting after almost a week for the refund ( minus the cost of the return post cost) which is poor given electronic banking is available to Charles Clinkard.

Thank you for your review. You can take your return back into a Charles Clinkard store for refund, this would then not cost any postage, we allow up to 12 month for returns, so long as unworn. With regards to postage, it appears that you have used a next day service with Royal Mail which is expensive, you can use 2nd class which would be around £3 and only take one day longer to arrive with us. You can buy extra tracking for arounf 80p so you would see when they arrived with us. Also there is a link on our webiste to Collect+ where for £4.49 you can buy a label that covers up to 10 kilo of returns. As you paid in store and not online, we do need someone to process the return it is not automatic. I have checked and your refund has been actioned. I do hope that this helps for future reference. The website and range of products is good. Unfortunately, the returns process is not good - only 2 options: Collect Plus or Royal Mail - no QR code option for "print in store" option if you don't have a printer. Although the Collect plus was a reasonable standard fee - I was unable to use this and so had to use the royal mail who charged £10!! based on size and weight of package it had to go via Parcel Force. Please can you look at using a returns portal that offers Evri and other providers with standardised returns printerless options. I won't shop with you again purely because of the cost of returns. Thank you for your review. We do deliver free of carge, but ask customers to cover the cost of return postage as you are aware. You can youself use any courier to return the items to us, Royal Mail is just one option. You can visit the Yodel or Evri site and create a return if you wish. We do find that Royal Mail can be a very reasonable cost, if you use second class. We are progressing and bringing in new systems all of the time and hopefully in the not too distant future we will be able to include other return portals for the use of our customers. The sandals were different colours when they arrived. This would have been evident when they were packed. I do have to say your staff have been lovely. An assistant in Nottm sourced another psir for me which I didn’t have because they didn’t look good either. I think whoever packs the shoes needs further training. I also think how online and stores keep the shoes needs looking at. I have ordered the sandals again from what I thought was Gabor directly. It transpires it was yourselves. If I had known that I wouldn’t have reordered. Quality should be perfect, particularly as you charge for retirns Thank you

Thank you for your review. We apologise sincerely that you have been sent shoes out that may have been on display. All orders should be quality checked before sending to ensure that the customer is getting a new pair and we have let you down on this occasion. We have a warehouse here as well as stores, if we have no stock left in the warehouse, we do ask our stores to fulfil an order rather than cancel to avoid disappointment. It seems that this has happened on this occasion and the dispatch team should have checked to ensure that the item was suitable for delivery. With regard to returns, we do ask a customer to cover the cost of returns, but not if it is a faulty item. On these rare occasions, we would not expect the customer to be out of pocket and if they get in touch, we can provide a label for the return where postage is covered. This was my first time purchase from Charles Clinkard, unfortunately the shoes I ordered arrived damaged with a scrap and a small puncture on the top of one of the shoes. I am in the process of returning them.

My order was slow to arrive, then, unfortunately, the sandals were too big. I phoned to find the best way to return this cost almost 5pounds but if I would like to exchange the delivery would be free of charge, however, if these didn't fit then I would again have to pay the postage thus adding another 5pounds so the cost of these sandals so to have no sandals that fitted has now cost me almost 15pounds sterling. So no Charles Clinkard I will NOT be BUING FROM YOU AGAIN

For future, you can return to any of our retail stores, the closest to you is in East Bridgeford. If you have to return by post, Royal Mail will likely be able to offer a cheaper option than £5. Got I touch to ask why my order had not been dispatched within two days of ordering. Got told I could wait 5 days for dispatch! Shoes did not fit. Now have to pay for postage twice to return them!

Thank you for your review. Dispatch is between 2 to 5 working days maximum, this is stated in our delivery information. You can opt for express delivery if you wish which is £3.99. This means a dispatch within 3 working days, or next day at £5.99. As your order was under £40 you did have to pay £2.99 postage for your delivery, however as you have returned within a 2 week period, we have refunded your postage back to you. Ordered my Piccolino sandals from Charles Clinkard because they stocked size 35 on the website but they weren’t comfortable so returned them to store. Return service was prompt and efficient.

I purchased a pair of Rieker sandals on line and when I received the sandals one had been in a store and had been used for display and worn many times, the underneath was marked and the word ‘rieker’ was almost worn away, I was very disappointed that it was sent a pair of display sandals so I returned them to the Milton Keynes branch.

Sometimes if stock is low and we have sold out from our warehouse, we will ask one of ur stores to return stock from their own holding store room, so that we can fulfil an order and not have to cancel it. It seems that this may have happened on this occasion. Thank you for your review. We do deliver to the customer where we cover the cost to them, but do ask the customer to pay the cost of the return. If an exchange is needed, we again cover the cost of postage to the customer. As you rightly say, you can take an order back to a Charles Clinkard store and we allow up to one full year to return unworn items in case a customer may visit an area where there is a Charles Clinkard store. We do find that the lowest cost seems to be second class Royal Mail which is around £2.85 for one pair of shoes, and you can purchase tracking for around 80p more. I ordered my shoes online to save me a trip into town and was very pleased at how promptly they arrived. However, I was most disappointed to find that the insole of the left shoe hadn't been glued in properly and looked crumpled and had a bump around the toe area. I returned them to the store in Newcastle the following day and the sales assistant agreed that they were unacceptable and exchanged them for me. I do like the shoes (Rieker Pia) and they are the second pair in different colours that I have bought but at £62 I would expect better quality control. I will need to think twice before I order again online.

Our shop purchases have been very good but the online experience not. The shoes were presented in a damaged box and the shoes weren’t packaged, just laid on top of the tissue with laces undone. There looked to be stretch marks near to the side of the toe area and the soles were not clean. The worst thing was it cost me £11 to send them back. Poor quality control.

Thank you for your review. We do deliver free of charge and also if an exchange is needed, we again cover the postage to the customer. We do ask a customer to cover the cost of returns, you may return using any method that you wish. A second class Royal Mail for around £2.85 seems to be the lowest cost, you can then add tracking for around 80p more. £11 is a next day premium service, you do not need to use this as it only ensures that your return will arrive 24 hours before a second class package and costs so much more. On our website there is information of how to return, you can take into a Charles Clinkard store if you have one near. You can return via collect Plus, there is a link on our website where for £4.49 you can return up to 10 kilo in one go meaning you can send several items back at once. However this being said, we do have a customer service team available by telephone or email 7 days a week, including bank holidays, and we are happy to advise customers if they let us know of any problems. Unfortunately, I have had a poor experience with Charles Clinkard. I ordered a pair of sandals that arrived within 2 days, I thought 'brilliant'. Opened the box, and that's where my joy ended. The sandals were 2 different shades of blue. One looked as though it had been a display model with cracked, faded and marked leather. It also had a sticky label of £10 less than I paid. I'm not sure who thought the package was acceptable to send, very disappointed with the service. I will be returning the sandals and not likely to purchase again from the store or recommend to a friend.

I love Charles Clinkard and shop with you regularly, as they have a great choice of ladies shoes. I bought a pair of remonte harar trainers a couple of weeks ago. They look great, so I thought that I would buy another pair to put away. The first pair arrived and one of the shoes had been worn. I returned them and ordered another one. They arrived with the stitching undone. I returned those also. I know that I can return them online, but I made the journey to my local store to explain. On both occasions the staff apologised but weren't really that bothered and instead of just ordering a replacement pair, we had to refund and then buy them again. What a faff. I purchased the second pair on a double points weekend and when I asked if I would carry the double points over onto the next pair, the assistant shrugged his shoulders and said he hadn't a clue! Come on Charles Clinkard you can do better.

You have to pay postage to get the shoes delivered and also to return them. I wouldn’t buy from Charles Clinkard again.

Hello Thank you for your review. We offer free standard delivery on orders over £40 which I can see was selected for your order, meaning no delivery fee was paid. You can return your order to any Charles Clinkard store, if posting back to us we do ask customers to cover the cost of returning the parcel. This can be done by any courier of the customers choice and be returned for as little as £3.30 on a Royal Mail second class tracked service. To find out more information regarding returns, this can be found on our returns tab at the bottom of the website. There is also a link to collect Plus where for £4.49 you can buy a label that covers up to 10 kilo of returns, which would allow you to send several pair back at the one low cost. Sandals had loose stitching and a tear in the leather after 10 mins use . Rubber heals wore down - appeared to have been worn previously and returned or extremely poor quality product . Let down for my overseas holidays as unfit for purpose
