“I have only tried two items from my order. The lambs liver was wonderful and apart from some calves liver I bought years ago I have not had better. We tried the small pork joint on Mothering Sunday which was also nice. I am looking forward to the rest; in particular the salt beef which I haven't tasted since the 60s! Will be ordering again no doubt. Thanks Diana Riwe”

“I am well impressed with Swaledale butchers. All the meat I ordered were vacuum packed and delivered fresh as described. This enable me to pop them into the freezer to enjoy later. Carriage was also reasonable unlike other butchers on line. I would definitely recommend and order from Swaledale again.”

“Unfortunately I would not recommend at all. I ordered from here because they have the highest fat percentage for minced beef that I could find online. I ordered 14 packs and 4 of them were not sealed properly so when I opened the box there was blood and bits of beef everywhere, my whole order was covered in it. The seals had not come open, they had not been sealed properly in the first place and whoever packed them didn’t bother to check. Then, apart from one pack, they had used vacuum bags that could have fitted over 3 times the amount that was in them, a total unnecessary waste of plastic. Then to make matters worse, the beef is not nice at all. Strangely though, some packs were ok but others were just plain horrible. Even in the “ok” packs, every other mouthful had a horrible taste. The only explanation I can think of is that they minced some nice cuts with a majority of bad cuts. I also ordered 2 packs of minced fat, smelt like sweaty feet, tasted absolutely disgusting and went straight in the bin. I’d have binned all the beef too if I hadn’t have paid so much for it all. They gave me a voucher for a small discount off my next order but obviously I won’t be ordering from there ever again. Probably the worst tasting beef I’ve ever had the displeasure of eating and I can’t believe they actually send this stuff out to customers, especially considering the price of it, I’d much rather eat supermarket mince for a third of the price. By the way, I am a carnivore and only eat meat (beef and lamb) and fat, I have lots of experience with all sorts of different cuts of beef and fat from MANY different places. I eat “nose to tail” so I’ve eat all sorts. That said, I am definitely able to give an accurate review on the quality and taste of any beef. Writing negative reviews like this is not something I want to have to do, I only do so in the hope that things improve for other customers and to inform others about what to expect so they can make an informed choice.”

“Excellent website which is easy to navigate. The venison was delivered by courier on time. Really well packaged. The meat was is wonderful condition and very chilled (not frozen). The quality of the meat is excellent and so tasty. I can fully recommend SWALEDALE Butchers. I will definitely buy from them again.”

“Always top quality meats delivered very quickly. I choose to buy the diced mutton, it's delicious and tender and ideal for homemade curries etc. Their proper pork chops are awesome - they are that big you could actually play tennis with them. Highly recommended.”

“A proper butcher at last! Nose to tail cuts are almost impossible to find at most retail butchers. These guys know their stuff and source wonderful meat and some of the more unusual offal. Fast delivery in recyclable packaging. Professional, polite and efficient service behind the scenes when one of my deliveries went awry too. Well done all round”
