“The leg of lamb was very good but the lamb chops and pork loin were rather fat”

“Excellent meat however we found the mince to be a bit heavy on the fat content, whilst that was the case the chipolata sausages, fillet steak and chicken are excellent quality”

“The order was delayed by DPD and therefore one of the meats was only just ok We have our fist joint yesterday and it was brilliant. I will be making further purchases, pity about DPD, not the best”

Thank you for the feedback. We’re sorry the delivery was delayed and that this affected the condition of one of the products. We’re very pleased the first joint was brilliant and that you’ll be ordering again. We continue to raise delays and handling issues with DPD, as delivery is a vital part of the experience, particularly with chilled produce. At present, DPD remains the most suitable nationwide service for our deliveries, although we keep this under regular review.

“Good. The weak link is DPD who all too often just leave a parcel on the door without ringing the doorbell. This is an issue in a terraced house in London.”

Thank you for the feedback. We’re pleased the order itself was good, but agree that leaving a chilled parcel without ringing the doorbell is not acceptable, particularly at a terraced property. DPD provides customers with a one-hour delivery window, but the final handover still needs to be handled properly. We continue to raise these issues with them and are constantly reviewing and refining the delivery experience, as it is inevitably one of the most important and difficult parts of any ecommerce business dealing with perishable goods. At present, DPD remains the most suitable nationwide service for our chilled deliveries, although we keep this under regular review.

“I have always been impressed with the quality of the meat for which I would give 5 stars but the minimum order value is pretty high well actually very high. I would purchase a lot more product if it was say £50.”

“Great quality produce but support not the best if something goes wrong. Not a huge criticism, I know you’ve a small team. Maybe I was just unfortunate, but my experience wasn’t great. I wanted three lamb breasts cause I had a big group of people coming round. I ordered three my basket defaulted to one so I ended up with the third of the lamb I wanted and I needed to go and source more lamb elsewhere. Your min order is not small, totally understandable, but when something like this goes wrong it will be great if it could be rectified rather than “sorry you order already been placed, suck it up”. That type of computer says no mentality to Customer Services very frustrating. still I do appreciate waving the delivery fee which I think was most fair.”

“The meat and packaging is always of very good quality. A real Cumberland sausage is as rare as hen's teeth these days!. It would be better is the delivery people actually knocked on teh door instead of just leaving the package on the doorstep in high temperatures. Just as well you put plenty of ice bombs i!”

“First order butterfly lamb and a large chicken. The service was great, arrived on time and both the Lamb and Chicken vacuum sealed and tasted sensational on the BBQ. My only gripe the cost is in my personal view top end so will be more special occasion than regular but certainly a first class service.”

“This is the second time I’ve used Swaledale, as my regular butcher has closed down. All the food I bought from them is very good and fresh. The reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the packaging was terrible. Obviously they started off packing it well, but by the time it got to me, the box it was in had fallen apart and opened! If anything had fallen out in the delivery van, the driver wouldn’t have bothered to check because it’s not their job and they wouldn’t really care. The box was too weak for my order and the tape Swaledale uses couldn’t hold its stick. That’s the only downside. Please use a stronger box or at least stronger tape and it would be a 5 star for sure. I would definitely recommend them.”
