“Good selection. Mixed experience of meats received.”

“Unfortunately I would not recommend at all. I ordered from here because they have the highest fat percentage for minced beef that I could find online. I ordered 14 packs and 4 of them were not sealed properly so when I opened the box there was blood and bits of beef everywhere, my whole order was covered in it. The seals had not come open, they had not been sealed properly in the first place and whoever packed them didn’t bother to check. Then, apart from one pack, they had used vacuum bags that could have fitted over 3 times the amount that was in them, a total unnecessary waste of plastic. Then to make matters worse, the beef is not nice at all. Strangely though, some packs were ok but others were just plain horrible. Even in the “ok” packs, every other mouthful had a horrible taste. The only explanation I can think of is that they minced some nice cuts with a majority of bad cuts. I also ordered 2 packs of minced fat, smelt like sweaty feet, tasted absolutely disgusting and went straight in the bin. I’d have binned all the beef too if I hadn’t have paid so much for it all. They gave me a voucher for a small discount off my next order but obviously I won’t be ordering from there ever again. Probably the worst tasting beef I’ve ever had the displeasure of eating and I can’t believe they actually send this stuff out to customers, especially considering the price of it, I’d much rather eat supermarket mince for a third of the price. By the way, I am a carnivore and only eat meat (beef and lamb) and fat, I have lots of experience with all sorts of different cuts of beef and fat from MANY different places. I eat “nose to tail” so I’ve eat all sorts. That said, I am definitely able to give an accurate review on the quality and taste of any beef. Writing negative reviews like this is not something I want to have to do, I only do so in the hope that things improve for other customers and to inform others about what to expect so they can make an informed choice.”

“I was really disappointed this year with my saddle of venison. There was a piece of tough gristle that hadn’t been trimmed out of it running all the way through. It was also nothing like what I’ve had from you before neatly rolled with a layer of fat. Not up to your normal standards, and not worth the £60 that was paid for it. Real shame.”

“Was expecting more of an American cut, with a layer of fat across the whole brisket. Disappointed that there was not much fat on it, particularly as I purchased a smoking brisket.”

“Food was great. But was promised Friday delivery and had 10 people coming round for a bbq. Unfortunately it didn’t arrive until Saturday by which point it was too late and I had to buy the whole order from somewhere else. I was also offered little apology and no gesture of compensation. So all in all not a good experience.”

“Very efficient, Delivery Service. Well packaged and arrived, chilled despite the hot weather. However, I made the mistake of buying five packs of Merguez sausages following the rave reviews. Unfortunately they are fatty and taste like ultra processed sausages. Nothing like the ones I buy in Sussex, but unfortunately my usual supplier has got temporary staffing problems. Very disappointing. I've now got five packs of sausages I don't know what to do with!”

“The order arrived on time,very happy about that.The ox hearts were lovely as was the liver,unfortunately the tongue's were tasteless and obviously from young ox.Would'nt buy tongue again.”

“The produce looks great, however, the delivery was less than satisfactory. I had put a notice on the door to deliver next door as arranged with the neighbour, as I needed to get my husband to the A&E URGENTLY. When I came back several hours later the boxes had been put in plain sight for everyone in the sunshine at the front door, with the notice still attached to the door. So a) anyone could have stolen them as we live on a main road b) we could have been broken into with the notice still on the door. c) the ice packs were molten, so the produce could have been spoilt and the boxes were soggy.”

“Packaging was poor and split when arrived a big chunk of fat missing from point, essential for slow cooking brisket, brisket cooked dry, not good. Is this is the sort of product you supply to top restaurants as your web dictates? I very much doubt it Poor packing, sub standard product Very very disappointed.”

“The size of the lamb saddle looked good however when cut after cooking it was encased on 3 sides by a 2/3 fat to 1/3 meat ratio, disappointing”

“Sadly my Christmas order did not arrive. Swaledale phoned me and apologised and explained they had been let down by the courier. They offered to resend but unfortunately they no longer had what I had originally ordered. They refunded immediately but sadly I can't get what I hoped for Christmas at this stage.”

“I was so dissapointed with my 2kg bone in sirloin. I know how to cook beef properly, my Dad was a butcher for 50 years, but this was extremely tough.”
