“Very good quality meat but not great butchery. This is always a problem with online butchers. The rib of beef was delicious but had a rib bone partially sawn (ie cut with a band saw) which was poor. Feather blade all very inconsistent in shape and size (made for an uneven cook).”

“The meat we ordered was lovely, full of flavour and cooked well. The problem we had was with the preparation, both myself and my wife had been in contact with your support department (Dawn Hulena) requestion that our leg and shoulder of mutton be sliced (Including bones) but both joints arrived whole, despite the label on the meat packaging saying diced. It wasn't the end of the world as we managed to prepare it for cooking ourselves (a large family curry) but it would have saved us some prep time and been much easier for you guys to slice the bones than me with my hacksaw!”

“so far only tried beefburgers which I am happy with. However, am not happy about delivery. Heavy box was left outside the back gate of the garden in the main road. Delivery driver came all the way around to the front of the house, knocked on the door and told elderly relative box was around the back. She had to drag the box into the garden because it was too heavy and it was left there until I came home.”

“Meat quality is good. But vacuum packing on 2 of the 4 products ordered had failed (pierced by a bone). Packaging needs to be improved.”

“The service was good but the minimum order amount for free delivery made me order quite a few things. Pre-made stuff like various sausages and kebabs as well as the mince and a couple of steaks. Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy the taste or texture of the Hot Links and felt the North African kebab was over spiced. The mince was OK but not as deeply beefy flavour as the description led me to expect. Still have some other things to eat but don’t think I’ll order these items again on this basis. Sorry. It was very well packed and reliably delivered which is a plus.”

“Customer service is excellent when there are problems.We ordered various items for the weekend and Swaledale said items would be delivered on our nominated delivery date. However nothing arrived and we emailed Swaledale about 6.00pm on Saturday evening. We had a prompt response and Swaledale did their best to get hold of DPD to find out where the package was but to no avail. It never turned up and Swaledale were quick to apologise and not only gave us a full refund but also a discount for a future order.”

“Service and delivery was great. Meat was a bit disappointing. Bought two packer briskets and only one really seemed to have any point on it. Very little fat cap on either. Result was a bit dry and leathery on the smoker.”

“Firstly, many thanks for the thorough packaging and your prompt and efficient delivery. I confess we found the meat disappointing. We use the Sous Vide technique for most of our meat cooking; it has consistently proved to achieve a tender and succulent outcome. On this occasion, however, it was significantly less successful. We cooked half the joint, browned all sides for about two minutes, then sliced into four servings for ourselves and two guests. The meat was in a vacuum-sealed bag in the Sous Vide water bath at 60°C for 27 hours – our normal timing. I was served the end slice, which turned out to be very tough and full of sinewy tissue, much of which was inedible. When clearing up, it was noticeable that all plates contained substantial remnants of the meat, which clearly had not been as enjoyable (although well-mannered guests avoid comment!) as we would have expected. My wife and I have subsequently discussed the timing and temperature of our Sous Vide preparation. We still have the other half of the joint you supplied which we will cook shortly. Successful Sous Vide cooking is very much a trial and error process, so perhaps next time we will select a higher temperature or a longer period, which if more enjoyable than this current occasion will eliminate any doubts we may have about the quality of the meat. I hope this feedback will be helpful to you and I shall let you know of the continuing outcome when we cook the remainder of the joint, in due course.”

“First two orders the food was amazing, best steaks I’ve ever eaten and the pork is out of this world! Third order and the steak was poor quality, chewy and tough and not pleasant. Emailed company but have had no reply, disappointing, so will look elsewhere for my meat now.”

“The pork loin wasn't too good. The meat was dry and the crackling was hard. Might have been because I didn't cook it correctly, although I used a recommended BBC Good Food recipe. Anyway, wouldn't risk it again.”

“Meat was much smaller than expected. I went off a guide of the pictures and was surprised with what arrived. Pork Belly and Onglets were less than a 1/4 of the size of the pictures. A better picture in line with the size would have been better”
