“I have ordered probably 10 times by now and am super happy with the Swaledale Butchers. Well packed items and always fresh. My two favourites are: - Ox Tongue - Onglet Steak Perfect flavour for both! The choice is great too! I only wish they start offering chicken feet :)”

“We have used Swaledale for a couple of years now and have been very impressed, not only with the quality of the meat but also by the efficiency of their delivery service. “High quality, great service. Such a choice of cuts. My dog loves the beef liver, can't buy it in a local shops or butchers. The thin streaky bacon is so addictive. Looking forward to trying other items.”

“Great website with recipes and ordering meat was easy. Good communication about parcel delivery. However, the delivery driver did not knock our door, and left the parcel on the pavement outside our house. Luckily I was in the front room to see this, so was able to pick this up. Previously, we have experienced items left in this way have been stolen.”

“I didn’t like the topside beef because: * a big portion of the fat was attached to the meat, not ideal for biltong/jerky. * 2 from 4 pieces were not fresh at all. I ordered 14kg and expected to receive good quality. Ox cheeks were good quality! It is unlikely that I will reorder from here next time.”

Hi Ion, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Traditional breeds tend to have a good fat content, which benefits flavour, especially so for some of the leaner cuts, such as topside, as this also helps keep the meat tender. I appreciate this might not be an advantage for biltong, however I would highly recommend using silverside for biltong, not topside - its dimensions and texture are superior. We regularly select cuts specifically for customers making biltong - you would just need to email us in advance with your order number, you can reach us on hello@swaledale.co.uk I hope this helps. “Beef bourguignon made with shin, chuck steak and short rib (I had to source elsewhere) very delicious! Trotters, bones, jowl & ham hock. A one stop shop for Cassoulet, stock made moving on to the next step today. Will definitely order again!”

“The venison, ham hock and trotters are in the freezer until nearer Christmas (new year for the venison) but the mutton made the most glorious curry! The package arrived swiftly and in great condition, expertly delivered by DPD. I will definitely be ordering from you again and wholeheartedly recommend Swaledale Butchers to anyone.”
