STILL AWAITING PAYMENT, FAIR PRICE PAID

Quite a slick & easy to use service, but it took a month & a lot of e mails from me to actually get the payment. If you're not in a hurry it's fine. £26 for a load of old books is a result!.

The scanning is very simple. Having the facility to collect the books from your door is easy. However the process from collection to payment is slower than I thought.

Whilst the pricing of items is fairly good the 'fast' payment facility is not. I had an e-mail dated 4th May saying my payment has been sent, 10 days later I still have not received it.

I have many books at home and in this time of severely reduced income due to Coronavirus, I thought it was a good time to try to sell some. It is incredibly demoralising to receive £1 or less for a once-read pristine hardback recently purchased for £14.99 or more but I suppose it's something! What did annoy was that I sent a cardboard cased set of Dahl books - all in pristine condition. There was a small tear in the cardboard case but books perfect. I posted these but received the reply that they were wortthless & I'd receive nothing: £6 or so was deducted from my balance. Hard to take, especially considering all the 'as new' condition books I'd sent, which didn't receive any premium for being perfect & could easily be sold at a premium for being in excellent condition. It is disheartening but I suppose that's what the market offers? My daughter did compare with another site which was more generous which I may look at more closely next time. I have pristine contemporary fiction HB signed editions but as these scan in at the same as an unsigned copy of only acceptable condition, I think I'd rather give them to charity.

Excellent idea but having too many books rejected and the offer changes to 'recycling' in other words keeping book and not paying for it (unless you are prepared to pay the shipping cost which is usually more than the offer price to get the book returned). If books are like new, this is a great idea but be careful what you send.

Sold 2 books about 9 Feb boxed them up printed label took them to shop on 10th Feb told bar code was wrong, must print a new label. Did that took book's back to shop on 12th Feb this time told it was the wrong label. Didnt understand this as I only printed off the label they supplied. Phoned to explain my problem of sending off the books and given a new label which I printed off and took the books back to the shop 15th Feb, and it was accepted. Expected payment by end of week, nothing, phoned them on 25th Feb and told chq sent on 19th but must allow 10 days for delivery, told to phone next week. Postman has just called and still NO cheque. Surely it doesnt take a week for a chq to arrive. Will phone them again next week. This is my first dealings with them, and Im far from impressed.

I never received any confirmation that they had received my items or that they had been processed. I only knew that the transaction was complete as the money appeared in my account. Other than this issue the transaction was quick and efficient

Great service concept. Main issues were with the courier, who didn’t pick up the books the first time I arranged a collection (and I stayed in all day). Then when they did show for the second collection it took 5 working days to get them to ‘we buy books’ They processed everything very quickly and I got my money same day.

Arranged for a pick up which didn't happen, my books then got picked up two days after they should have been. Also, I had to enquire about payment as that didn't seem immediately forthcoming.

your performance is let down by your carrier especially in the time taken to get parcels to you and the lack of information on their website

Excellent customer service due to an issue with Hermes delivery which was unfortunate but dealt with extremely well. Had to chase up my delivery but once it was realised that a long time had passed I was paid in full and told they would deal with the issue. So although it was a little stressful waiting as soon as I made contact it wasn't long at all before I received a reply and the issue was dealt with.

I was recommended the service and I found it a good way to get rid of some old university textbooks. I thought it was great that I had the option of having my books collected from home as I struggle to get out of the house/that We Buy Books provided me with the necessary labels. However they were slow to send my cheque to me. Despite this, when I chased it up We Buy books were quick to respond to me and in getting the problem resolved.

Easy to use service but couldn't find a way to check the collection date without having to rearrange it. Have had several notes from courier saying they are going to pick my books up when this has already been done and money received. So better communication from courier and website would be good.

I had an odd experience: one of my two consignments was rejected because of a "strong smell of smoke". True, three items out of 12 had been kept in a study where cigarettes are smoked, but being on bookshelves that would only have affected the spines. Yet apparently it affected the entire consignment. I paid £5 to get the box back and couldn't smell anything except the smell of old books. Also, they don't accept many fiction books, so it takes a while to get an offer for not very much. On the positive side, their staff were quick and helpful, and I got my books back within 24 hours (and promptly sold them on another site).
