I was told that The De Vinci code was not in the box of books I had sent - it very much was and significantly reduced the amount of money I was expecting

I sent over 50 books. Two books were brand new and had not even been opened. They happened to also be two of the books they offered the most for. I got an email to say neither had passed their quality control and those were discounted from the amound I was paid. This was unfair and incorrect. I raised the issue immediately however there appeared to be no recourse open to me as they had already sent them to be 'recycled'. I asked for the books back as I knew they could be sold individually on Ebay for a decent price. Be very careful what you send!

Pretty poor payment levels -10p a book often. Even when you send high quality books packed well they say they haven't received them - only paid out when I proved via a photo the books apparently not received were in the box. I feel they capitalise on the fact that selling used books is not easy so this is often the only solution, although I feel sure their profit on resale is significant. Used through necessity but not a great option

Didn't pay out on a lot of the expensive books, but almost all the cheap ones they accepted. Payment was far lower than the basket price

Easy to use app. Getting books to them is fairly easy too.

Disappointing. I sent them 10 books. One was discarded due to 'water damage' and thrown away. It was certainly not water damaged when I sent it - I had only bought it within the last year. They pay very little. Not really worth the effort.

A bit disappointing. Most of the books that I scanned were rejected. Out of the £26 odd worth of books that were accepted and sent £15 plus were rejected on arrival. Funnily enough it was the ones that were worth more than 50p. I'd have rather kept them if I'd known. Also took quite a long time to process and be paid.

I've used their book buying service and I was always very happy wth them. I've had no problems during the past year but they now seem to have adopted World of Books' habit of reducing your payment by saying books haven't arrived. My last shipment was reported to have an amazing total of 7 books missing!!! I am actually OCD about counting them in, checking and rechecking so something odd is happening their end. The amount paid for books is miniscule anyway so why I would withhold 7 books wortha few pence each doesn't make sense

Not very impressed with the turnaround service. Sent items over 3 weeks ago that according to the courier pick up service was delivered several days after me dropping the items off at pickup location. Yet your app still says ‘on route’. I have sent items to MusicMagpie within the same time frame that have not only been received (they kindly email you to let you know they have received them), but have been processed and paid for. Need to do better….will not be sending anymore items to you.

Waited 3 weeks for cheque to arrive and then my online banking app would not accept it, had to take to local post office as all our local banks have closed.

Comparing my 5 most recent trades with 5 over similar periods in 2023, 2021 and 2020 I discover that: In 2020 I sold 25 books at an average of £1.08 each In 2021 I sold 29 books at an average of £1.48 each In 2023 I sold 56 books at an average of 96p each In 2025 I sold 51 books at an average of 60p each Bear in mind a good deal of inflation over the last 5 years, and you can't avoid the conclusion that WBB has cut the amount it pays per book by over 50%. 15p for recently published novels in very good condition is not a good deal. This is becoming a less and less attractive proposition.

Not sure who was at fault we buy any books or evri but it took lots of emails back and forth to get nowhere to find out were my books were. One blamed the other

Books eventually picked up by Evri after I phoned webuybooks twice to say they hadn't been been collected on either of the two dates indicated and agreed on the website. Also, only a small proportion of books are accepted. Then, at the end of the process, the value is not enough for me to "sell these items" and I have wasted my time.

Took time for money to arrive

Not long enough between listing books and making a trade. Hard to read so many books to get to £5 when some books only 10p or 20p in the time allocated. Once trade expires, books listed are no longer accepted.

Very selective on books qualifying for purchase (in my case about 5 of 50 entered) Initial collection date missed When collection arranged again the payment was very fast

I never receive the promised labels for book collection and always have to ring up to get them sent by email. This has not changed since trading started with you. Prices are poor in comparison with other buyers. Tiresome to enter barcodes manually if not scanned.

The service was ok, but I wouldn’t recommend over competitors - 1. You can get more money with a competitor - not the best pricing 2. I had to ask where my payment was after 2 weeks; they said they hadn’t received my box but then found it the next day…. 3. Took off money for books that are in reasonable condition - they are only giving you 10p anyway! 😂

i agreed a trade with you for some folio society books and because they do not have isbn numbers i was told i would be sent a special code to complete the trade. 3 days later i had not recieved a code so contacted you customer services who arranged a for code to be sent and i also requested the postage labels be sent to me via post as i do not have a printer. i then completed the trade on my laptop and booked a pickup. the very next day i recievedan email from evri saying the courier was on their way to collect my parcel, this was not the day i had booked and as i was not at home i could not have put out the parcel and the labels had not arrived since i only requested them the day before. evri then sent an email saying they had been unable to collect my parcel as it had not been left. the very nesxt day i recieved another email from evri saying the courier was on their way to collect my parcel, again this was not the day i had booked and the same issues still applied. then the day before my collection was booked the labels had still not arrived so i had to go into town and pay to get them printed from my phone so i could send the parcels. the collection day arrived but the courier did not. so now i had to book another collection and finally on their fourth attempt evri collected my parcels. ibreathed a sigh of relief and waited for my payment cheque. then 8 days after the parcels had been collected i got an email from webuybooks asking if i had forgotten to send my items as they had not been recieved. several emails back and forth between me and webuybooks later i was finally told that the parcels had actually arrived and were being processed. several days after that i then recieved the cheque payment which was for the wrong amount so more emailing between me and webuybooks to get that sorted out. it seems every step of this process was accompanied by a problem and needed me to contact webuybooks to get it sorted. on the plus side the gentleman i spoke to several times from customer service was very polite and did get the problems sorted and when i emailed webuybooks regarding the problems they did respond within 24 hours and had usually managed to address the problem
