“I'm not sure how to rate Scrivens. I have certainly had positive experiences at Scrivens. I find their staff are very polite and friendly. They remember my name and are welcoming when I come into the store. But recently I had a less positive experience - I was given a prescription that really didn't work for me. As soon as I put the glasses on it felt something was not right but I was advised to persist with them for 6 weeks - fair enough - I know it does take time to get used to a new prescription, but as time went on I was more convinced it was not right. Then they agreed I could have another sight test to check the prescription but on two occasions they rang me saying they would need to cancel the appointment I had booked. As my availability was limited too it ended up taking several weeks to actually have another sight test at which the optician confirmed I would be better off with a different prescription. After another week or so I was able to collect the glasses with the correct prescription and it is much better. So the issue was resolved by Scrivens but it did take quite a long time and I'm not sure how the mistake came about in the first place.”

“The service was very good, reception very helpful and courteous. The optical examination was very thorough and highlighted a potential problem which fortunately following a recommended blood test proved to be OK.”

“My local branch were fine. IT took 3 attempts to make my glasses and three times they messed up. Ended up with a refund.”

“Mix up with payment of sunglasses and eye glasses were caused by lack of attention by staff. The employee made me feel very uncomfortable as if her mistake was my fault. The sun glasses, purple frames do not suit brown lenses which caused vision to see everything Purple. It took several weeks and a change in colour lenses, to grey to rectify the issue. The mail employee who dealt with the issue was very helpful and ensured the issue came to a satisfactory conclusion. The eye glasses are too strong and give me a headache. I will not look to order glasses with Scrivens again as there is very little choice at the shop, generally styles for old age pensioners.”

“I couldn't be more pleased with my Scrivens experience. Everyone was so kind and patient, I wasn't made to feel rushed in any way, and when you get to my age this is a great comfort! I have now got my 'specs' and I'm really pleased with them.”

“Scriveners in Bury St Edmunds offers a friendly, helpful service,in a professional but relaxed style. I know if I have a problem I will receive prompt attention with a smile. Over the years I have often popped in for a refit of my glasses, without fail have been attended to kindly,despite the fact that the staff would have been quite within their rights to wonder why I did not take more care. I am always a very happy customer.”

“Have already done this. Very pleased with optician who tested my eyes following cataract surgery. However I felt I had to wait too long for specs to arrive nearly three weeks when they had been marked urgent.”

“Seen (excuse the pun!) on time for my eye checkup. Alison, the examiner, explained things as she went and was great fun with lots of laughter and chatter without being unprofessional. The assistants in the shop were able to process the order without any problems ----except for the software.”

“I have no idea what other branches are like, but the Scrivens in Ringwood is the best opticians that I have ever been to: their customer service is exceptional, their knowledge base extrememly wide, and their enthusiasm endearing. These are all individual characters who are allowed to be themselves, yet who hold a common aim of giving the most efficient and friendly service they can. I can't recommend this branch enough.”

“I have purchased 2 pairs of glasses in the last 4 years. The first pair I have not been able to wear at all!. I went for an eye test a couple of months ago and have had to go back several times as my glasses aren't right. The lens have been change and I have been told to wear them for 5/6 weeks to get used to them!. They are still not right, so I shall be returning to Scriven's opticians Royton once again!!”

“Always happy to help, nothing is ever too much trouble would'nt go anywhere else :) the manager is lovely and made me feel like part of the Scrivens family and it was no problem when I had an issue with my glasses..all staff are lovely couldn't get better customer service and I know with working in retail myself. Please pass on my thanks and they deserve to be noticed for all that they do....Well done Scrivens at Stamford Lincolnshire always a pleasure :)”
