I asked for a refund on a hearing aid order which had been cancelled. Since then I have made four calls (two to the branch and two to their customer service hotline) and have been informed each time that the refund would be with me in 3-5 days. A month later I am still awaiting my refund and have, today been informed that it may be this week, or next but no guarantees, with no explanation as to why the refund is taking so long. I was also informed that I am unable to speak to the accounts department to find out what the issue is. Anyone who pays privately for hearing aids knows that they are vastly overpriced so I am concerned at the level of funds they are withholding, fraudulently, with no reason offered and no process to chase or action

Paid £450 for top of the range varifocals only to find them unfit for use. Been back four times already, lining up a fifth next week. Anything you can do to help would be good. I've been visiting your shop on Shirley High St Southampton for years, so action required to retain me as a customer. Edward Wright

My mother had two pairs of glasses and the lenses keep dropping out of the frames. What’s more annoying at the Wolstanton branch is every time I go back with the glasses the staff never seem has though they know what they are doing and not very helpful has if there’s more than one customer in the staff seem stressed and don’t seem able to cope. I won’t be taking my mother to this opticians again after been a customer for many years very poor service

Very good service when you first go in and have the tests. All I wanted was reading glasses. I went for buy one and get one free. I did not even have designer glasses. The cost was a few pound off £400 which I thought was very expensive. However when the glasses came they were the expensive dual purpose lenses which I did not want. Took 2 months altogether to get the lenses changed to just reading glasses. I was only refunded £50 which I do not think was right as reading lenses are not that expensive. However at this point I really could not be bothered with going back in.

spare dome etc.not posted as promised so unable to wear hearing aid for 2 weeks. I never had any delay getting spare parts from the hospital audiologist previously, they would post, or I could go any Wed to my local hospital, or any day to the district hospital. Sadly the local hospitals no longer offer a service for my level of moderate hearing loss. The woman I spoke to today on the Scrivens customer phone no. promised to post - so I hope they will arrive.

I had a sight test recently. Although I said the reason I asked for a test was that I needed the prisms changed as I’d started to see double the optometrist gave me the same prisms again. When I received my glasses I saw double. I have had to have another test and my glasses have been sent off to have new lenses. This is not the service I have had previously. Very disappointing.

Very poor service from the Ashby De La Zouch branch. Was told the optician was running 5-10 minutes late - after over 20 minutes the optician emerged with the current customer, didn't have the courtesy to acknowledge myself, and went downstairs with this customer. I then approached to ask how long the appointment would take as due to their delay my car park was expiring in under 25 minutes; there was no apology whatsoever, so cancelled the appointment after a wasted morning. Have decided to return to Boots going forward. Not recommended.

Made an appointment 4 days in advance at the Mexborough branch. I arrived 30 minutes early on the day (8 March) and sat waiting for an hour. The technician suddenly appeared, and I was told she had nipped to the toilet but she then MrsDavisreappeared with her coat on and left the building without speaking to anyone including other other staff. I was not impressed at all and did not rebook.

The office in Hoe Street London E17 seems to be slipshod, thoughtless and disorganised. Smiles and apologies can't compensate for shambolic management and customers should perhaps think carefully before using this particular branch. They might be better served by a more professional one. I'll be writing in more detail to Nicholas Georgevic and the customer care team in Birmingham. This is just a warning heads-up.

Firstly, full credit to the front of house girls in the opticians in Hythe and on the telephone - they are very informative, extremely friendly and welcoming. They are a credit to Scrivens and are not deserving of the one star presented here. However, when it came to the optometrist himself, the particular gentleman on duty today needs quite some work on his customer service. If you like being talked to with seeming contempt, in a condescending manner, barely looked at and most definitely not smiled at then he is your man. From the time I stepped into his room, he was unfriendly, unwelcoming and it in the brief time I unfortunately had to spend with this person it felt like I was troubling his otherwise busy schedule. Perhaps he was having a bad day, however, the disdainful manner with which this gentleman presented himself was appalling, so much so that I ended up walking out of the exam before it had even started, something I have never done in 20 years of optician appointments! Additional note - there was going to be an extra payment for a form I needed to get filled out, however this was only a small charge and I would have readily paid this had the optometrist had any iota of customer service skills.

Cost me so so much for one cheap pair and went to spec savers and got 2 pairs for half this price, u know what they say should of gone too specsavers

Very disappointing service after using this branch for many years. The sight test was done in about five minutes and did not cover anywhere near the amount it used to. I chose my frames and was told about a week to ten days. Called in on day 10 to be told about another 10 days. Said that was unacceptable so they rang up and said it would be the next day! I waited 48 hours and rang and was told they had been in the store 24 hours but they were too busy to ring. Collected them and was just handed them after they had cleaned the lens. No fitting and no lining up with the spots as used to be done. Luckily there are many other opticians locally so I will be going there is future.

After waiting half an hour beyond my appointment time I left. I was not informed they were running late and an apology was only given after I said I could not wait any longer. There is no privacy...your personal details are taken in the waiting area where other customers are waiting. I shall definitely not be returning.
