The experience was complicated by an electrician Mason French coming to do a “so called survey”. He spent most of the time trying to explain how to put electric power into my garage. His quote was a total rip off - £942.00 without the installation of the Pod Point wall charger. I now have the wall charger installed on the outside wall near the garage. So I will have to charge outside rather than inside the garage where the car is kept. I could not justify the cost of getting power to the garage.

I was advised by my son who is well qualified in this area to choose PodPoint. I paid my money £1100 in early February 2022 and was told that no installation was possible until April. In the first week of April, I had still heard nothing, so I rang and received a 'pre-installation' email requiring numerous photos etc. The response to this was the need to have work done on the installation site so I had to find an electrician to do this work. Once done I was then asked for another photo which occasioned a further conversation with Customer Support to convince them that the work was as it should be. On 24th May, 4 months after I had paid, EDF turned up to do the installation. They said it could not be done and drove away only to return having decided it could be done. They removed a rotary switch my electrician had installed following instructions from PodPoint, but completed the installation. The cable that PodPoint supplied however did not fit as according to EDF there had been a modification to the Solo 3 unit. I have asked for a replacement cable and reimbursement for the work done unnecessarily by my electrician. Why on earth did you wait until April to send me pre-installation requirements for photos etc , this could and should have been done as soon as I had paid!!

Installation engineer was excellent. A perfect job. However I have been unable to link the charging unit to the app and so far the help desk hasn’t responded

The installer, Kevin, was loquacious and friendly. We hit a snag when an earth wasn't identified and a supervisor plus UK Power Networks were contacted (unnecessarily as it transpired) but the installation was completed in a neat and workmanlike manner. This was somewhat in contrast to the lack of urgency demonstrated by your operational planning team who had sat on my pre-installation data for three weeks without even acknowledging its receipt, and needed my phone call to inspire them into action.

The client had a big ask, they are expected to send numerous photos of incoming power cable/ main fuse board, and earthing points for water and gas services! Also when a client then has to get his own electrician in to check the suitability of the power supply and then do some pre-install work (fitting a new RCD) it does ask the question of whether PodPoint have got their business model right!

Had to Google and watch you tube videos to set up the pod point. The Pod point was fitted to the electric board and in right position. Took me a few days to work out how to set it up.

The chap who came to install the podpoint was excellent. The process and admin leading up to it was atrocious.

Bit of a mixed bag. The initial experience and scheduling were good, and they were very accomodating with the day and time. We submitted all the requested photos and were told it was fine to go ahead. Our installer was great, but when he arrived he immediately identified (from the photos we had previously provided to podpoint) that he could not safely install the device without an electrician coming to make alterations to our fuseboards, meaning he could not actually connect the charger up. This meant he would need to come back again. We got the electrics fixed at the earliest opportunity, but podpoint were then unable initially to send anyone at a mutually convenient time for a further 2 weeks. Eventually, after some email discussions, they did manage to send someone at short notice to complete the job, which again has been done to a very high standard. The frustration here was that if they had looked at the photos we sent with any level of care, we would have been told before the install date that we needed to make changes and could have made arrangements so it was all done at one visit. Instead, there was a great deal of hassle to try and get a further date sorted before the car arrived with no means to charge. To their credit, they did eventually make the effort to resolve it satisfactorily, but it could all have so easily been avoided.

Pod Point’s equipment is good and the installation contractors are excellent. The Pod Point central office function is extremely poor with long delays, repeated nonsensical questions, and the impossibility of speaking with anyone. There is an unacceptable delay between payment and installation.

Your automated selection service at the start of any telephone contact within the company did seem very complicated to a new visitor and quite often I was binned of the call. Not so good .

A little disappointing with the long delay in progressing my order. It took several weeks to get from submitting my pre installation survey and geting a response for the installation. The actual installation was completed uneventfully and quickly.

The pod point installed currently doesn’t work due to the engineer’s incorrect fitting meaning that the charger is useless at the moment until this is fixed.

Overall average experience, only delay to installation process was the 14-d cable delivery. Installer removed a pre-fitted (and customer paid) electricity smart monitoring device from supply wiring, and re-wired supply in a manner which it could not be refitted - which is disappointing (especially as the unauthorised removal by pod point installer was not brought to customer attention during the pod point wiring, and will remove customer oversight of electricity consumption per smart device - which is the reason the device was fitted). Separate customer-paid electrician was required to install wiring from point of EV charger mounting, to supply area, despite only being a single storey building (bungalow). This was a additional unexpected expense. Limited features of the solo 3 EV charger (including inability to connect to hidden WIFI networks). Installation process has left redundant smart devices in home, due to installer removal and not reinstating. Not sure I would recommend, according to above factors.

Unit went in a breeze but tethered charge lead too short. Costs an arm and a leg to extend it after forking out £1k already.

I placed an order in January 2022 and was then told it wouldn't be installed until after 31 March when the subsidy ran out. The installation was installed on 19 April which was done well. However, I was not informed that the recently cancelled subsidy had been replaced with a new scheme. I contacted Podpoint in this regard and was told I could apply personally - however when you read the details of the scheme only the installer can apply. I have informed Podpoint of this requesting assistance and have received no response.

Getting to the right person was at times difficult. Cost of doing the survey was very expensive - not everyone is good with technology considering it took about 5 minutes for the man to complete. The person who fitted the pod was excellent.

The installation itself was straight forward & we're delighted with the end result. Extremely neat & looks great. HOWEVER the booking process was appalling. We're both GPs so had to re-arrange surgeries to be in at the allotted times for the inspection & installation visits. We had an email confirming the 1st time slot was 9am-12pm. I then received a shirty phone call asking me why I hadn't confirmed. I explained there was no request to do so on the email but confirmed this would be ok. The engineer then rang on the day to explain he would be there in the afternoon & that the morning had never been arranged! So the inspection visit & further surgeries had to be rearranged. On the day of the installation, I specifically said I would not be available until after 2.30pm yet received a phone call from the engineer at 1.30pm asking where I was & how long I would be! There appears to be no communication between head office & the engineers doing the inspections & installations.
