“Not clear at booking that the Plane Parking car park at Edinburgh Airport is closed with no shuttle bus and has been closed since Nov 22, we had to park in the long stay car park and a 15 min walk with my elderly mother as no shuttle bus was available from this car park either. Clearer notification required”
Thank you for your review.
As advised on our website before booking there is a yellow warning box for Plane Parking advising there is no shuttle bus in operation.
As advised on your booking confirmation Plane Parking is currently non-operational and you were upgraded to the Long Stay car park. All upgrade information is detailed on your booking confirmation.

“Pretty poor website with links and phone numbers that don't work.
Not easy to find your way to car parks and only labeled as far as I could see when you are already there.
Once in, good parking (I used Mid car park). Simple to drive in and for me an easyish walk to airport.
It said bus. Saw a bus stop but probably no buses so once again confusing though easier for me to walk.
Will be happy to use again but the whole process says "nobody really cares" IMO.”
“Ended up paying additional charge of £4.00 on leaving as barcode would not scan. Pressed button and ticket popped out and at second barrier was required to put ticketin and pay £4.00. Sent email re this but as yet no reply”
Thank you for your review.
It sounds like you have been charged in error at our exit barrier. I can see that we have had no past correspondence from you however please reach out to us by using the below link and we will be happy to help:

“Very poor service, paid online then when we arrived at airport we were redirected to another car parking area, entered the park g area then we we informed we had a parking charge of £110 when we tried to leave, had to then talk to an operator who was able to override the charge and let us out the barrier, not my idea if an efficient system at all☹️☹️”
“I have used this service several times in the past with no issues. Sadly on this occasion this was not the case. I arrived and found the carpark closed and the sign giving no information (tape had been applied over the instructions). I stopped a local airport employee (unconnected to plane parking) who advised me to go to the long stay car park as plane parking was closed for the winter. I did and was eventually allowed access to park. After that there were no issues, however, this could all have been avoided by letting me know the new location and procedures. Very unhappy I wasn't advised. All this could have been avoided. So much stress prior to my trip. Sadly wouldn't use again.”
“We were upgraded to the multi storey carpark at the terminal a few days before travel. When we arrived the ANPR cameras weren't working so had to ask for assistance. Eventually the agent found my booking and sent a ticket through the machine for us to exit the carpark when we came back. When we returned from holiday we took this ticket to the exit barrier, but surprise surprise it did not work. I had to press the assistance button again. The agent asked for my reg number but could not find our booking. They eventually opened the barrier. First and last time with Plane Parking. What a complete shambles!!”
“When booking the parking we didn't realise it had moved so far away from where it originally was. It used to be at the back of the long stay car parking. However the shuttle bus was there just as we arrived and we got to the airport quickly. On the way back, we had been sent an email to say that there was no shuttle bus and we were to go to the office in the multi storey. We got there at around 8.30 pm and didn't get picked up until 9.10 pm. The vehicle we were transported in was the airport Fire service which was okay but a very high step. The driver was very polite and helpful though and waited until we got through the barrier, as it charged us £176! He sorted it out for us though. Just a very stressful experience after having a lovely holiday, so don't think I'll be booking again unfortunately.”
“When trying to depart from park i was asked to pay £120 after sum discussions i eventually exited the park reason for low mark dissappointed D Oliver”
“2nd time I’ve booked and been charged over the odds £165 on departure. No one answered the phone and they take a week or so to reply to emails. Got a refund the first time, awaiting response for this time. Like we have money lying around for their muck ups”
“Very reasonably priced & close to the departure area but couldn’t find a parking space - luckily we had left plenty of time before our flight. Need a system to ensure there are always enough parking spaces.”
“Need the buses back!! When returning at 3am couldn't find way back the car. No signs directing you back when leaving terminal. Not what u need when tired and dark!!! Took long time to find space. Followed returning passengers to get there space. Cars parked everywhere - not just in allocated spaces. Obviously over booked!”
“I booked the service online however I had a few major issues on my return to the UK with the service where I believe improvements could be made.
1. On return to UK, I had difficulty finding the location where the bus collected persons from the airport terminal. It would be useful when you book the service if you were provided with this information on a map for example. Having failed to locate the collection point I am not sure if there was a telephone number I could have called for assistance. I would recommend if there is a telephone number then it should be specified on the barrier exit ticket that you are provided with. I ended up walking to the car park!
2. On collecting my car from the car park I drove to the exit barrier and inserted the barrier exit ticket and to my shock the barrier did not open and stated I had to pay £176. Fortunately the courtesy bus arrived in the car park and the driver advised me to use the lefthand barrier which did let me out.”
“Check in was great and finding it was good but when you see that your car has an extra 3 miles in the clock is disappointing also how came it to have why looks like mud in the roof of my car? Very very disappointing. Don’t know how it can be like this when it’s a concrete car park?”
“When I left the car park, I was asked to pay £264,for parking, and trying to explain to your operator was difficult to say the least, after about 10 minutes he let us out.”
“sorry to say I didn't have a good experience..... checked the plane parking website for directions, and I set my sat nav to the point to find it was way farther down the road with little to ...no signage, was hard to find, bus service was great and couldn't complain..... but when I picked up my car and went to the barrier it was asking for a further £120 ..... it looked like other people were having issues also so don't think it was isolated .... is plane parking trying this on to see if people pay it or ?? who knows... I did speak to someone who let me through when I gave the registration of my car ...... not what you want after a nice holiday...”
“Followed post code on email confirmation
Parked car and didn’t realise until return we were in wrong car park.
Additional £95 charged to exit car park”
“Found it hard to find also never got ticket with my registration on it had to wait all weekend worrying if I was going be charged another £95 then when arrived back had to talk to concierge to get this rectified before barrier lifted.”
“I have used Plane Parking before, one time after arriving late at night in torrential rain. There are only 2 bus stops, so the walk back to the car meant we got soaked. On exit the ticket machine wouldn't accept the ticket and lead to a stressful delay, holding up other customers from exiting. The ticket was soaking wet and the voive at the other end of the intercom eventually allowed us to exit.
The most recent time, after paying much more (£55) for a 4 day park, the automated gate would not allow us to exit. The barrier was asking for a payment of £140.00. Yes, 140 quid. A total of £195.00 for 4 days.
I wasn't going to pay it. After many attempts to contact a human being, the bus arribed behind me. The driver thankfully showed me where the miniscule button was to speak to a human and eventually we could exit.
A good car park, conveniently located but with prices and glitches like that I will think twice before using them again.
Get something done with those dreadful machines. And add another stop or two.”
