“Buying your first home is exciting, but no one really prepares you for how confusing and stressful the process can be. At times it feels like trying to complete a puzzle without being told what the final picture is supposed to look like. From day one, our mortgage broker Sue Abbot was absolutely fantastic. She always answered the phone when we called, and if she missed it she would always call back. As first-time buyers we had plenty of questions (and I’m fairly sure some of them were very basic), but she never made us feel that way and took the time to explain everything clearly and patiently. I like to research things properly, so I spent a lot of time reading up on the process, mortgages, and offers. We had a running joke that I was “being trained by the best.” Buying a house is one of those journeys where you really do have to understand the process yourself — you can’t rely on someone else to explain everything for you — but having someone with over 30 years of experience guiding you while you learn makes an enormous difference. Her knowledge and reassurance helped massively. Her experience was obvious throughout. She knew the industry inside out and even helped us understand the psychology behind putting in an offer through an estate agent — something that definitely doesn’t appear in the home-buying guides. At one point our mortgage application hit a hurdle when some of our income wasn’t taken into account and the application was initially rejected. Rather than accepting that outcome, she worked her magic, pulled a few strings behind the scenes, and the mortgage was approved that very same afternoon. That moment alone showed how valuable experience really is. Beyond being incredibly knowledgeable, she was always polite, funny and genuinely supportive. Buying a home can be incredibly stressful and there were definitely moments where she felt part mortgage broker, part therapist — which was exactly what we needed. We had plenty of laughs along the way and she was never short of the occasional bit of life advice either. I’m very late writing this review (apologies!), we completed in December 2025. But it would feel wrong not to say thank you. We are now very happy in our new home, and her help was a huge part of making that happen. If you’re buying a home and want someone experienced, patient, supportive, and able to keep you calm through the chaos, we couldn’t recommend her more highly. Thanks Sue!”

“Ron was an absolute gem. We came to him from a bad experience with Lloyds trying to remortgage and borrow past retirement age for additional borrowing to build an extension. He bet quickly found us several options, and the speed at which everything moved was superb, and we've avoided paying a month's mortgage on SVR which had felt inevitable at the time.
