It's been really hard work. I have had to ask a lot of questions at every step of the way I order to get the best deal for me and minimise extra charges. When my circumstances changed, there was no continuity with previous conversations about what I was looking for. There were timely responses but a lot of miscommunication and information was not forthcoming. I've ended up going with my current provider to save any more stress, which I could have done myself anyway.

Hi Alex, thank you for your feedback and we understand your frustration, however we feel this may have been a misunderstanding on responsibility for the delays you have experienced . As your mortgage broker, our primary role is to advise and then secure your mortgage offer, this was achieved by your adviser in approximately 3 weeks, (application to offer) which is a very reasonable time frame. Once your mortgage offer is issued the mortgage lender will assign solicitors to progress your case to completion, for which sadly we have little to no control over. Your adviser has sent emails requesting expedition on the process, but ultimately it's the solicitor firm who are then assigned responsibility to progress your case through to completion. We understand this may be frustrating, so we wanted to explain our position. If you have any concerns or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to call us. We're always happy to help.

I have contacted GHL in July to seek advice and guidance in buying a property as we needed a bigger place as me and my boyfriend were expecting a baby in September. At first we were not sure of our circumstances for getting a mortgage due to the idea that I was going for maternity leave and my boyfriend is on the process of relocating to the area and at the same time looking for a new job. I have spoken to the mortgage broker, Matt - given that me and my boyfriend both work with the NHS, Matt confidently advised us that we are in a perfect position on stepping into the property ladder due to job longevity on the NHS despite our current situation. We contacted a sale advisor to view a property that we were eyeing to buy but was advised to gain a second opinion from their inhouse mortgage advisor for them to generate a mortgage in principle (MIP) for us. After all the talks on both mortgage advisors, Matt from GHL provided us with the better MIP as per his assessment. We reserved the property that we wanted and Matt had been able to provide us the information that we require for the mortgage application and he had been able to give us information from all our questions as a first time buyers. Although we did not get the anticipated mortgage amount that we require from our lender, Matt reassured us that we have the best lender in the market for us. Additionally, Matt had advised us in timely manner at that time of the dropping rates from different lenders and he managed to reapply for us and was given a better rate. We have achieved the completion date as advised by the sale advisor and solicitor. Now we are living in our own house with the new baby. Thank you for all the help Matt for this achievement, we really appreciate it!

Impossible to get hold of. Unclear instructions delayed the process substantially. Grateful to have found a lender as my deposit was low but won’t be using GHL again.
