“Beware, they may not pay you out the full cost charged to your credit card by the car rental company in the case of an accident. I made a claim to recover the cost after a stone had been thrown into my windscreen, necessitating a replacement. The claim was mostly paid, but not the portion relating to the mandatory airport "Concession Recovery Fee" (15.61% plus 5% tax) charged on the costs of replacing windscreen, admin fee and loss of use. Despite it being impossible to rent a car from the terminal without agreeing to the Concession Recovery Fee and the costs being directly attributable to the windscreen damage, that portion of my claim was denied on the basis that they do not "directly relate to externally caused damage to the rental vehicle". I have given this rating 2, rather than 1, star because they paid most of the claim and answered correspendence in an appropriate timescale.”

Hi Christopher, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Concession recovery fees are quite often charged at airport rental stations to offset the higher costs of an airport location and as such are part of your rental charges. We are glad to hear that the rest of your claim was paid and that the company were able to communicate in a timely manner.

“Been using MoneyMaxim to find car hire excess insurance for years now. Does exactly what I want it to do, and makes it a 5 minute annual job. Can't comment on the insurers themselves, but the prices charged by hire companies are ridiculous.”

“Used money maxim to get prices for excess car insurance cover while travelling in Spain. Very good comparison site with clear information about each insurance option.
