I had to cancel the policy this time and get some money back, albeit the admin fee reduced the refund amount.

Thank you for your review - we do appreciate it.. It is true that some companies do charge an admin fee when policies are cancelled - although they will often be happy to rearrange dates if that's possible too. That might be a idea if you need to make changes in the future. The MoneyMaxim team

We do try our best, offering filters to hone the options to a shorter list, and our user reviews to give a value measure, but we are sorry you feel disappointed. Site was ok but 1 of the company,s I picked to use when I got to register my details Norton flagged it up as a risky website. Not good????

Hi - thank you for your feedback - it gave us a chance to review this in more depth. We have checked all three sites you visited from us - and checked them using Norton, and all three have been verified as safe and given a big green tick. Whether there was a momentary problem, either with the site or Norton, or whether it was a combination of factors (as your ip address was indicating you were located in Russia) I am not sure - but suffice to say all seems well now. I tried moneymaxim based on the MSE recommendation. However, I was able to get a better deal by shopping around and using another comparison site.

Hi Paul Many thanks for your review – that was really interesting – I don’t remember the last time we have heard that! After contacting you it appears that having used our site to compare you then visited a insurer directly. Whilst many insurers offer our users discounts the one you chose don't and you subsequently went directly to them and purchased from them - at exactly the same price as you saw on MoneyMaxim. The good news from our perspective is that there was no better deal deal - but only a matching one - so our reputation as a place to find great deals on car hire excess insurance remains unsullied!

Used to compare hire van insurance excess. However my 1st choice for this increased in cost once transferred to the supplier’s site, so then had a to try different option which wasn’t as good as what I originally thought I’d be getting. Seems the company concerned we’re just putting a “headline” figure in the comparison to draw in customers, then increase costs.

Oh this is odd! We have retraced your steps and clicked out to the first company - and the price matches to the penny. We have also checked the details we display for the second firm and that works too. We have therefore contacted you to see if we can resolve this, but can categorically say that there is no intention on either our, or our partners to mislead. As the vast majority of reviews say normally we are as clear as can be!

Hi Michael That should not be the case - in fact the insurers offer our user discounts of up to 35% through our site, many of them unique to our customers. The policy you clicked out from our service was 16% cheaper than going directly as well, so I am not quite sure what happened. Whilst one or two particular insurers have increased prices that is not the case across the board - and in fact the cheapest policies are exactly the same price as they were pre pandemic. It was good to be able to run through a quote with you over the phone and by clicking the add to compare button, this then compared 3 policies at a time, line by line, feature by feature, etc, etc... I appreciate, the fact you couldn't see the Orange compare button and this was what was stopping you in order to proceed. Can only comment about car hire insurance and car hire in Poland. As usual car hire insurance excess was good but car hire not great because of inability for hire not to return car to same location.

Recommended excess car hire insurance seems OK but the provider erroneously claims I agreed to auto-renew. Furthermore, the link provided to opt out does not work and my email remains unanswered.

I would like to see more information about reviews of the different companies I am considering using. And I would like Money Maximiser to try to use the online questionnaires that the cheapest companies use to set up their service, to ensure that these websites actually work.

Admittedly, over the whole Covid period, we did stop this due to the fact that hardily any Excess Insurance were being bought ! The layout is not very accessible and the alignment looks off. Theres a lot of clicks to figure out the best option. This makes the site less trustworthy. I'll be more confident to use the site if it's more accessible. Note: they were kind enough to call and explain why the site is designed this way. I trust this site.

Zabil Cheriya Maliackal Thank you for allowing me to speak to you earlier on the phone about your review. I'm so pleased I was able to explain to you regarding the transferring of information from our site to the Car Hire Excess Insurers. All the Car Hire Excess Insurers have kindly agreed to allow (with the customer's consent of course!) for their personal information to be transferred from their quote (on our site) to their chosen Excess Insurer (to their site). This can be achieved by simply pressing the quick buy button. By doing so, saves considerable time for the customer in having to re-input all their personal information again. The company you chose, are the only company on our site that preferred not to have (the quick buy function) and when you click the buy now button on our site (for them), it takes you directly to their site, but you do have to re-input your information (sadly). Regarding the functionality of our website, we have tried to design the site so it is easy and clear to use and probably the most common review comments that we have received, is that we have achieved that. I do appreciate that you do feel that the design/styling could be more up to date and in line with other sites that you mentioned and I'm sure when we do our next big upgrade for our site, this will then allow us to then review and make improvements and to incorporate the latest enhancements at that time. So pleasing to hear though, that the Car Hire Excess Insurance policy that you found on our site did meet your full requirements and the reassurance and peace of mind that this will now give you when hiring your car. Taking out the policy was easy, but with anything the proof of service will be whether in the unfortunate event of an issue, how easy it is to resolve.

Learie Gonsalves Please do not be concerned! By following the claims process correctly, you will be absolutely fine and you will be reimbursed under the terms of your policy. Numerous customers use these types of policies on a day-to-day basis and all have the peace of mind that they are protected in relation to the many features covered, which are not typically covered in your main car hire.
