You have bought a standard annual excess insurance which is ideal for the vast majority of car hires in Europe - so it would be very unusual for you to need anything different, but if you do want to call and check we are here to help. Hi Rayna Thanks for your review. We too are disappointed that you faced that issue - I think it came about as you were using online chat and they were trying to find an online solution whereas they could have processed the booking for you over the phone. “I tried to book insurance with a company called Leisure Guard through the MoneyMaxim website, as they seem to find the best deals. Leisure Guard’s website corrupted twice, just as I authorised payment. No confirmation emails but they still took my money, twice! Someone from Money Maxim phoned me and explained that the problem was with the Leisure Guard website. Money Maxim were very helpful and got me my refund. If it hadn’t been for the stress of being charged twice for nothing by Leisure Guard, my experience with Money Maxim would have been perfect.”

“Good comparison site. Easy to use. The only issue I had was when I was redirected to the chosen company, I had to enter all my requirements again. If these were saved, it would make life easier and quicker.”

“Very useful comparison site, I had not realised there were now so many companies providing this, but in practice many of them seem to be fronts for the same underlying insurer. Might be nice to have this identified by MoneyMaximiser.”

With regard to your point that some companies that seem to be fronts for the same underlying insurer it is more frequent that different insurers use the same underwriter rather than being co owned. There are a couple of cases where companies are joint owned - but then they tend to offer a different level of proposition though both brands - normally one will have lower limits than the other or offer a wider set of options. We are however continuously striving to improve our site in order to provide the best possible information for our customers will be sure to take it into consideration during our next site review. “I've given 4 star for the actual comparison site as it did its job but once l was redirected to a different site to pay this is where the problem started....there was no way of paying for the insurance. So 0 stars on the site”
