“Bike took over a month to arrive due to missing a mechanical piece for the front wheel, after a month it was just shipped to me without that piece, had to go to my local bike shop to be able to use the bike no word from mango, genuinely was terrible service, the bike itself is beautiful but shame about the experience of getting it”

“First things first, I love my bike. It is absolutely beautiful, nice to ride, quality seems good, looks great, etc. However, I haven't been massively impressed by the service. I ordered on May 12th when it said the lead time was 10-14 days so I was expecting my bike before the end of the month (when I was planning to start commuting to work with it). I didn't receive my bike until July 7th, and the communication in the interim was not great - to the point that I was concerned the company had gone under or something (because things like "order status" weren't updated for many weeks). Indeed, the "bike availability" page on the main Mango home page still hasn't been updated since May 30th, with it currently saying bikes will be dispatched early to mid-June... today is July 20th! It makes it look like a dormant business (I was only reassured by the social media channels being updated). It also means I've missed out on many weeks of pleasant spring cycling... I was hoping to get used to it before it got too hot! I totally understand that there are supply issues (even though when I ordered the website said "good stock" for all the parts of my bike) but these should be communicated earlier on to manage expectations. I was given some free lights when I was asked if I would be compensated for the long wait, and all of the customer service was friendly and helpful when I actually got a response (I wouldn't bother using the live chat function, nobody seems to respond. Email seems better). The other thing that has annoyed me a bit is the email that comes when your bike has been dispatched. The subject line is "Building your Mango Bike is easy" and it includes the words "Every Mango is already 90% of the way there." I think this is quite misleading - I was expecting to just have to pop the saddle on or something, but you actually need to attach the handlebars, front wheel, saddle, pedals (which you'll need to go and get greased at a bike shop if you ever hope to get them off again)... to me this is more than 10% of a bike! Buried at the end of the instructions it says you might want to get a bike mechanic to do it. As a rookie cyclist, I definitely didn't feel confident doing it all myself and didn't even understand some of the terms used in the written instructions (things like "stem and brake caliper" and "place the axle into the dropouts" - I'm sure if you know about bikes this stuff is second nature, but not to me!). I was luckily able to get my husband to help but it wasn't a quick and easy job by any means. Again, this is about managing expectations, the "90%" line is definitely a big stretch. This feels really moany so I want to reiterate that I love my bike and I think Mango have many USPs and great branding, but it definitely would have been a LOT easier and quicker to just buy a bike from a shop... it just wouldn't be as pretty.”

“Firstly I love the bike, the variation’s you could choose was endless. However I must say that the communication was not great to be honest. After placing my order it seemed to take ages for any information to come forth. After a few emails I finally got a reply to say that they’d had a system error where some emails weren’t being delivered to the correct place. That is when they told me that they’d had a problem at the spray shop and mine would be delayed. Ok things like that can happen. But an email would have been nice. When I then got confirmation that it had be built and despatched there was no tracking information with it. Still no reply to my email. The bike did turn up a couple of days later as it says on the web site. The bike was packed well with no scratches or dents to the box. Easy to assemble. Like I say I love the bike.”

“So glad I discovered Mango Bikes! I’ve spent last two years looking for a new bike, trying to compare components/setups/colour ways, getting so confused. Then I find Mango Bikes! Yeahah, amazing colour customisations, great value and fun! What better way to encourage the occasional, unfit cyclist to get pedalling. Whilst on holiday, I spent several fun evenings picking different colour options, used the ‘Chat’ to ask for more gears and told I could upgrade to 2x 10sp Tiagra. Result! Kept updated from ordering bike along with amazing Free accessories bundle and in less than a month, my Mango Bike arrives with no extra carriage for Orkney Islands! I also bought 2 extra pink tyres, which gives me a second bike look! Sooo chuffed, easy to build up on arrival. What a great experience with Mango Bikes! I just love my Steely ride……”

“Excellent bike! Great options to customise to very own preference to almost all parts of the bike. Looks and feels very well made and rides quite smoot too. Probably the perfect bike for me. Delivery was quick too. Well wrapped and packed up for damage free delivery. Value for the product is good! So far, so good for me.”

“Cool bike. Poor customer service. I received my bike in good time, but it was missing a couple parts and had a faulty tire. I’ve yet to hear back from customer service after reaching out to two different contacts. Better customer service would have completely changed my experience from just ok to great.”

Hi Andy Sorry you feel upset about this. The issue with your bike was due to the incorrect installation of the pedals on the Shimano Claris cranks. The photos you sent clearly show the pedal hadn't been fully inserted and caused the damage. Shimano is one of the top component manufacturers in the world and we choose them for the OG as they are just hassle-free. Response time to your message last Friday is longer than we're aiming for, apologies for the tardy reply time. We're working to catch up again during this busy period. “I bought a Mango single speed 2nd hand online for my daily commuter and it is fantastic. I decided I wanted a slightly mad, colourful bike so I have since purchased orange tyres (to go with the yellow frame and blue handlebar tape) using the bulk deal Mango offer with the inner tubes and slime tyre levers. From the website, I was expecting the actual slime you inject into your inner tubes for instant puncture repair so this could have been made clearer that they are, in fact, just a couple of tyre levers. I enjoy the language used in the order confirmation and general Mango emails, brings a smile to my face just the same as the bike. For what I use the bike for, I would recommend Mango to anyone. Minimum maintenance is required and it's a smooth, fast ride along the flat London roads.”

“Products are all exactly as expected, however shipping and communication is very poor. The day i ordered my equipment I was told it had been shipped, only to find out later that week that certain components had not been in stock to begin with. Little to no information is sent out by email and was only received upon requesting via live chat on the website”

“The bike is glorious - bloody love it. Comms-wise - I really appreciate the tone of all your messaging. But, (sorry copywriter over here - force of habit) - they could do with an edit. If you can shorten the length by like... 50% I think it would really help to get your message across clearly, and quickly.”

HI Jenny What a fabulous bike! Nice customising. Yeah, your bike took just under 4 weeks from order to dispatch which is slightly longer than expected. It's usually 2-3 weeks if we've got painted frame stock but there was a delay at paint house which bumped yours back a bit. Hopefully new bike day and getting out riding will make it worth the wait! Happy cycling
