Don't buy from this company. Paid £ 120 for topsoil - it's brown sand. Usually buy from another supplier who is half the price but because needed this quickly, decided to spend the extra money. Also, the driver wouldn't come down the drive, so my 80 year old father had to wheelbarrow it 300 yards to his new flowerbed. Appalling.

An all round harrowing experience !! I would not recommend dealing with Harrowden Turf as my experience was truly dreadful. Ordered the product online on a Saturday morning, provided correct house name, correct street name, correct town, correct county and a postcode with one digit typed incorrectly). Phoned their sales office on Monday morning to confirm order details and advised their sales assistant to check the access on Google Maps as I was concerned about the size of the delivery vehicle. I was assured it would be fine and they would deliver to my address on the appropriate size vehicle. After calling them on the day my delivery was planned for, I was eventually advised they required an additional £40 to deliver the Turf, alternatively they would keep my prepaid £189 and I would receive no turf at all. (what a way to treat a customer). Their feeble justification for applying the additional charge was my delivery was planned on the wrong vehicle due to one digit of the postcode being wrong (despite them having the full address and me calling their sales office to check the access at the property). After several discussions with their Ops Manager I reluctantly paid their £40 charge and attempted to recover this once I received the delivery. After 6 weeks and numerous emails and tel calls with a company Director I eventually received a partial £20 refund. This is the worst customer service experience I have ever endured. It appears to me that this organisation refuse to accept any responsibility for their errors and look for any reason to apply additional charges once they have your order.

This was an unfortunate situation but it highlights the importance of accurate delivery address and other information. The delivery postcode is critical as it used for delivery scheduling and small errors can, as in this case, lead to a order being allocated on the wrong delivery route by a depot. We purely sought to pass on the cost we incurred from the 3rd party courier to redeliver the following day. We had no recourse to the delivery network due to the incorrect delivery address provided by the customer and as a gesture of goodwill we agreed to share the cost.

An absolutely horrible company to deal with, I would highly not Recommend anyone using this company! I ordered turf and top soil, they took the payment and never delivered any of the products. The delivery driver and transport manger was rude and aggressive. They would not drive up my road and then expected me to wheelbarrow 2 ton of top soil more than 1/4 of a mile up to my house. When I refused to do this they then told me because he could not drive the lorry up my road it was my fault Therefore I was not entitled to a refund. I have had skip Lorries and grab lorries the same size as the lorry they tried to deliver in. They have stole £500 from us with no offer of a refund and when we call them they are not interested. Please please do not use this company.

I have privately messaged you a couple of days ago but I have had no response. I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience with your turf and topsoil order. I have tried to investigate but we have been unable to find your order and no one recalls speaking to you. Perhaps your turf was ordered through a different website. I hope you manage to resolve your complaint.

Beautiful quality turf. Unfortunately, at 74 years of age and disabled, I have been left with a huge wooden pallet to dispose of. I re read the terms and conditions, and the fact that the customer will be left to dispose of the pallet is not explicitly stated. It is left for the customer to pick up on statements 'delivered on a pallet' etc. In no way would this mean to me that the pallet would be left behind. This needs to be made clear, not obscured behind ambiguous wording.I won't be ordering again.

Bit disappointed. Webpage says free next day delievery but when you go to checkout a delivery charge is applied! Very misleading.

Hi Michael, Apologies that you felt this was misleading on our website. Unfortunately, we do offer Free Standard Anytime Delivery to most UK postcodes but there are some postcodes that have a delivery surcharge depending on the location.

Poor service. Poor quality Turf. 3 hour late delivery and customer service were rude and unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend and got the rest of my turf locally which is what I should have done in the first place

Ordered 32 metres but only 12 were delivered. We didn't receive the remaining 20 metres until 6 days later. Turf appears to be good quality though.

The turf wasn't delivered to the right address by the delivery driver. Fortunately the builders on the site were able to move the pallets with a telehandler, but it was too late to lay by the time it arrived at our house. It was laid first thing the next morning but by that point the turf was damaged from heat stress. Given the very cool weather on the day of delivery and how badly damaged the turf is, I suspect it was cut quite some time before it was delivered. We now have many dead patches in the lawn which need reseeding.

Poor customer experience. Poor and inaffective wording on your webpage. Ended up paying over £10.00 a square meter. When complained to customer service, no appologies, no interest, no help. Wil NEVER use you again. RIP OFF.

We ordered some turf to be delivered on a Friday. That day my wife and I waited inside all day for the delivery driver to come. We understand that turf is a perishable product and needs to be laid immediately. Unfortunately the delivery never arrived. We never received so much as a knock on the door. When we emailed to let them know this we were told that there was 'a problem with the delivery' and that we should get in contact on Tuesday to 'discuss other options'. When I called I was told that the driver 'couldn't get down our street' and couldn't contact us by phone. Our only option would be to buy more turf. And we would not be refunded for turf that we already bought but that, for whatever reason, wasn't delivered. So not only did we waste an entire day waiting for a delivery that never arrived. We are also £140 out of pocket. I can assure you that we will certainly not be ordering turf from this company ever again. And I advise people not to use them.

Very disappointed. The turf was of very poor quality, as the photographs show. Every single roll was crumbling and torn. The lawn looks like a patchwork quilt. When I contacted the company and shared these images they offered to replace the turf three days later. However, I had the gardeners on site, and the turf sitting on my neighbours’ drive and had to go ahead. I asked for a partial refund as the process of laying these damaged turfs took much longer than anticipated and the quality of the lawn is very poor, but I never got a response. This was a very disappointing experience and demonstrated poor customer care.

We did respond to your email to ask if a credit for the rolls would be acceptable other than a replacement, however this must not have arrived with you. Wouldn't recommend as quality isn't the best! 3rd order we've had now where the turf has holes in it or it is torn! Makes our company look unprofessional and therefore we may now take our business else where next year.

Ordered wild flowers, looks more wild meadow with plenty of clover. Where are the flowers. Very disappointed. Would never recommend.

Was not given the amount needed to cover my lawn. This was even with the 10% added. Called to see if they would drop another roll off at some point but was told to go to. B&Q. The royal turf is performing well though, even in this heat wave.
