My policy was renewed without my permission. I had to pay almost £100 for this mistake at the end.

Wise driving could not insure me from a different address when I moved, leaving me to cancel the policy 3 days prior to cancellation. I set up a policy with a different insurer and cancelled the policy with wise driving. I then receive a text message demanding that I ring through with a reference number. I did so to be told that I owe another £60 today otherwise the debt collectors would be informed. I asked why and how I owe this amount and the advisor told me she didn't know why then proceeded to ask if I had extras like breakdown cover etc. I explained I didn't, however one would have thought she would already know that! I ask for a breakdown of costs to which I am told I cannot have as the systems are being upgraded! I am certainly not willing to pay for something that cannot be explained by the insurance company and I will not be threatened with debt collectors! An incompetent company whom causes great concern regarding the way in which they treat their customers! Complaint going to be directed to the ombudsman.

Apologies but, I am unsure what your review is regarding. We at Wisedriving are an insurance provider. We do not offer vehicle services. If you could provide more information that would be helpful. Regards, Holly

Absolute scammers! Cancelled my daughters car insurance do to a late payment even though my husband called and tried to pay it, they wouldn’t talk to him. The payment was not even a full month late and we are not able to get hold of anyone. They are dealing with a 17 year old with very little experience with finances and credit agreements. They take advantage of the young people and scam money out of them. Poor poor service

We are sorry to hear you are unhappy with the service received. Due to data protection laws, we can only speak to the policyholder unless they have authorsied another person on their account. To speak to you we would simply need the policyholder to call us and confirm they give you authorisation to speak on their behalf. If a payment has defaulted, you would need to speak to the finance provider. The funding company are who you are paying your monthly direct debits to. The policyholder would have signed a credit agreement with them and been provided with their contact information. When payment has defaulted, they will inform the policyholder and allow time before payment is attempted again, before issuing a cancellation notice. That cancellation notice will then also provide a 7 days before the cancellation is enforced. Regards, Holly

Hi, Thank you for your review. As the insurance broker, we are unable to confirm the way in which a renewal quote is calculated by the insurer. However, I am able to confirm that at the time of generating a renewal quote, a number of factors are taken into account by the insurer which will determine the best price available, this would include, but may not be limited to, driving history, age, vehicle type and area. Regarding the driving licence number, some comparison sites will ask for this information but it has no effect on the premium that we give you. Many thanks, Adam

Hello, We are sorry to hear you are unhappy. The telematics device uses the same mechanism to monitor acceleration and braking. If both scores were showing as 0, this would indicate a problem. However, as only acceleration is scoring 0, this would indicate there isn't an issue with the telematics device. Saying that, you can of course ask us to look into this for you. Would could provide you with more information of when and where your acceleration score is coming out at 0, for example. We do experience high calls volumes on occasion, which we cannot always predict unfortunately. You can also email us or message us on social media too. Our phone umber is 01733 308358 and we are open 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00 -13:00 Saturday but closed Sunday. Kind regards, Holly

Scamers. They canceled my policy without notice. Didn't pay me 30 pounds from a claim, and charged me an extra 140 pounds for cancellation which wasn't previously announced. AVOID THIS SCAMERS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

Scammers!!!! My husband had his policy cancelled due to no fault of his own he dropped his car off for a mot, and the car mechanic decided to use my husband's car without my husbands permission at 103mph my husband informed them this was not him and provided them with all the information they asked for where car was, police reference number ect they seemed happy and put husband's policy back week later they sent email saying your policy is been cancelled we called thinking they had made mistake but once we eventually got through they told us no we are cancelling the policy reason is because u didn't tell car mechanic that there was a black box in the car which is absolutely absurd we only took the car for mot by law and now been punished for someone else's actions we have been mistreated by wise driving and will be taking this case further.....

Hi, We’re sorry to read of your unfortunate experience: please be assured this is truly not our intention. We really do appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately anyone who drives the car will be monitored and it is the responsibility of the car owner to make anyone aware they leave their car with that a telematics device is fitted to the car. I can see a complaint has been logged for you and a complaint handler will be assigned to your case and investigate the situation fully for you. Many thanks, Angela

I'm so annoyed I've had a good score for months and am of a sudden my acceleration score is really low. I know I've been scammed as everyone else is saying the same thing. They charged me for acceleration for joining a motorway. This month I didn't go on a motorway at all and drove extra careful and I still got a lower score for acceleration. It is making me anxious. The rest of my scores are prefect so how is this possible that I'm accelerating too much? There is a fault with the black box. But after seeing the reviews, we all have the same problem. How are we all good drivers by bad at acceleration??? And they do not answer the phone. I want to sue this company for theft.

If I could rate Wise driving 0 I would!!! Poor service and inaccurate and fraudulent insurance company stating my son’s acceleration score is at 0 and has been for 2 months! All other aspects of his driving are very good. He is a careful driver and this is not a consistent reading. How can the score remain at zero without fluctuation at all, definitely a faulty box. When questioning this with wise driving the response we finally received 3 weeks after my query (which I had to chase up) was that the score is indeed correct. It will not be investigated further and must be due to my sons careless driving and a valuable lesson he will eventually learn. Not fair on anybody let alone a new driving who is extremely sensible and only on an apprentice wage. His car has been off the road for 2 weeks and still the score remains at zero! Beside the point how can his acceleration score drastically drop to 0 but speed and braking remain at very good. No matter what the decrease surely it would fluctuate a little and not remain at 0! To make matters worse having spoken to somebody at the beginning of June to report this error and another raised premium amount of £100 month! Customer service told me I would hear back from them in a few days time, but never responded. I chased this up only to be told it hadn’t been referred to the investigation team because I was required to send pictures of my sons black box attached to battery in his car. This information was not passed on and the car at this point was in the garage engine completely removed. The lady said therefore there was now no point taking a picture of the box not attached and in car. Therefore advise only to email complaints at wise driving . Nearly 2 weeks later we have had no response. This is a TERRIBLE company save yourself and any young drivers the pain and heart ache as they clearly DO NOT CARE. I will be posting this review elsewhere and speaking to the ombudsman.

Why won't you insure me next year. Is it because my black box score is excellent? Therefore you wouldn't make enough money.out of a safe driver? Are you going to come and remove the black box?

My son has been with the company a while on his black box everything except his acceleration is excellent. 100/100 for most areas and then 0/100 for acceleration- my son drives very safely if he’s acceleration is so bad surely his braking would also need to be bad to compensate. It’s a joke his last two payments have gone up an extra £80 each. On reading reviews it looks like there is a problem with the data when it comes to acceleration yet it’s the drivers getting penalised and not being looked into by the company sounds like a lot of fobbing off with photos of the box etc. As long as they are getting the money they don’t care and are praying on young/new drivers knowing they want to get a full years no claims etc and haven’t got many options when it comes to first time insurance. Overall It’s bringing his score down to 80 - that’s still good yet they are taking him to the cleaners when it comes to increased premium - looks a bit iffy and looks like they are trying to get as much out of him as possible before he ups and chooses a different company in a few months. He’s called and asked how much it would be to cancel he got the reply to wait a few days as his next payment is due out and she couldn’t give him a cancellation amount. I’m guessing he will then not be any cheaper to cancel part way through the month or continue to pay stupid amount. He’s a student who also works part time paying his way but with the hike in premium he’s going to have to have help from us to afford it. Ridiculous!

Had their black box since November… all scores were 100% until end of January then my acceleration suddenly dropped to 0 within a month. I got charged £120 for the premium increase so rang and asked how this could be. Very helpful gentleman on the phone looked at the data for me… 50 odd incidents on one straight road for acceleration but there were road works for weeks on that road so it was flagging up poor acceleration in traffic!? But my braking was 100% so it doesn’t make sense… if I am accelerating excessively of erratically in traffic then how am I also braking perfectly? He asked me to send a picture of my box as he felt it needed investigating, I didn’t hear back for ages but kept asking on Facebook for any updates but they said no. I rang customer services again and they said head office had deemed there were no anomalies and the data was correct. Nobody told me! I asked how my acceleration could be 0% but my braking 100% but she couldn’t give me an answer. 0%!!!! And 100%!!! I recently looked on my account at the dashboard (I stopped looking because everyday my score went down and I couldn’t bear it) and 4 days after I complained my acceleration score has miraculously started to improve??? Have they reset my scoring? If so I want my £120 back and my score to go back to 100 as I should be due a premium refund for good driving. Something extremely dodgy and I won’t be letting this go.

Hi, Thanks for making us aware of this - we are sorry for the experience you have had. Please be assured that we take our customer service very seriously. We can see that we referred to the telematics provider to test the device and there were no anomalies with the device. We've processed your request for a breakdown of the telematics device data, this will be with you in the next 30 days. Please continue to monitor your telematics score via your customer dashboard. Many Thanks, Kathryn

Definitely avoid this company at all costs. When I took out this policy for months my scores were 100. Apart from time score. Then about a month before the March review my acceleration score started decreasing, it decreased every time I drove from then (no fluctuations, just decreased every single time I drove). All scores remained 99/100. I have dashcam footage of my driving, so I know there has been no change in my accelerating, but apparently it gets worse every day. Other reviews I've read, people are having this same issue. I spoke with one person at wise driving and this is because they want to increase your premiums. Low and behold, within a week or so, my premium increased as they decreased my score enough to charge additional premiums. My score was 99 for months, yet all of a sudden my driving is now worse. Also my score was still excellent at that point, but going from an excellent score to an excellent score, requires additional premiums (make sense? Nope). If I take a drive now, it will be guaranteed that my scores will be 99/100, but my acceleration will decrease from the previous score. This is 100% guaranteed. No change to the way I drive or accelerate, but wise driving thinks there's nothing wrong with the box and this is normal driving behaviour. 23 Feb (and months prior): 100, 25 Feb: 98, followed by scores: 94, 91, 88, 84, 82, 81, 77, 75, 75, 70, 70, 67, 65, 63, 57, 54, 51, 49, 48 Apparently that's normal. Avoid this company at all costs, the company effectively operates a racketeering operation.
