My delivery was packed very well but unfortunately I did have the misfortune to find a bit of plastic within the bacon when I opened it. The bacon was fine...tasted less salty than your usual supermarket product. The lamb was tasty. ..I am yet to try the sausages!

Never got £ 15 off first order. The porterhouse was phantastic. But oxtail surprisingly tough needed 8 hours in slow/pressure cooker instead of 4. Glitch perhaps ??

Oh dear, I am afraid I cannot say that the beef ribs I bought for a dinner party, after being carefully cooked, were not as tender as I had hoped. Great flavour, my guests said, but not tender.

I ordered the mutton chops and the beef and bone marrow burgers and have say sadly that both were disappointing. The mutton chops, which I cooked according to your online instructions. Were tasty but tough and the burgers were very bland. As a customer of The Ginger Pig in London I was expecting better especially after the review and award by the Observer. I take no pleasure in this criticism and I hope you will find some value in it.

These animals are slow grown and free to roam the beautiful North Yorkshire landscape while growing to their full potential. All our chickens are raised out doors and enjoy a fantastic quality of life being able to participate in natural behaviours such as dust bathing and a good old scratch under a tree. This means that although there may be a price difference from your average supermarket chicken, the quality very much reflects this. I was recommended Farmison by a colleague and from what they told me/the info on the website it looked like something that would really interest me! I always try to buy UK breeds and free range when it available! I ordered the following: Yorkshire free range chicken, 14 day dry aged Yorkshire pork chops, 45 day hereford matured rump steaks, 7 day dry aged jacob lamb steaks. The Lamb and Beef was absolutely fantastic, great flavours! I would highly recommend that anyone trys these, especially the 45 day matured rump... Absolutely delicious! However the chicken and the Pork were not so great, I found the texture of the chicken quite tough! Incredibly juicy but the meat itself seemed quite chewy. I know that free range birds tend to have a tougher texture especially on the leg meat, but this was more then I had experienced before! The pork was very well butchered, the meat had lots of marbelling but the actual bone had been removed. I prefer to cook pork on the bone as it can go dry quite quickly! The flavour of the meat was also underwhelming & again it was juicy but the texture was quite tough! Overall I would say the red meats are definitely worth the premium price tag, but im not too convinced on the poutry and pork! I will definitely be ordering beef from Farmison again, I think the prime rib for Christmas would be a nice treat!

Wasn’t impressed by the steak nor the burgers. We’ve gotten much better locally. Bacon and sausage was better but still not great.

This was my second order from Farmison & Co. I can not fault the quality of the meat as this was very good. However, I did not receive exactly what I had ordered. The bacon was nowhere to be found and the steak and bone marrow burgers seem to have been swapped out for more short rib blend burgers. I am not sure if this was a mistake or there was a shortage of some products.

after receiving a chateaubriand present box from my sister[which was gorgeous] we ordered a meat selection ourselves and must say the chateaubriand looks very disappointing. The meat tapers tremendously so it is going to be difficult to cook it evenly.

Acceptable score but of note a recently purchased leg of mutton which we slow cooked proved to be rather dry at the finish. I think it was a perhaps a relatively young animal and lacking a decent level of fat on and in the meat.

The product received was of good quality. The price paid for it was fair. However, I was let down by the service. The product was despatched one day late. I did get an email about it, Late, on the evening before the delivery day was due to take place. I replied with an email in which I also enquired about the free burger offer, which I did not see listed on the order. I was told that they would have been included with the order to be despatched and the problem was with the computer system. However, I have not yet received pre promotional burgers.

My experience with Farmison is complex. I have so far ordered from them 8 times and plan on ordering more in the future. However, my genuine recommendation is to stick to things that are “simple and generic”. Here’s my reasoning: Out of the 8 times I’ve ordered from Farmison 7 arrived with swapped cuts or swapped breeds, or swapped something. Just think about that for a second… 7 out of 8 orders! That’s a level of incompetency that is quite shocking. I have tried calling them and have them create the “boutique” order for me with all the breeds and thickness specifications I wanted and yet when my order finally arrived things were again changed and swapped. I tried to have an email correspondence and have them keep things for me until they have everything and only then ship it and yet again some things weren’t as I ordered despite having a 27 email exchange in order to avoid exactly that - which is just insane. In the past they had more breed options as well (on the website). Now you can’t even control the breed unless it’s a prime cut/steak so in many ways the website is only getting worse. I’d even argue that what made it special to begin with is the breed options but now that it isn’t an option anymore (unless you call or email but as explained that isn't reliable either) it just became less special and more mainstream. So having said all that, why do I recommend them and will continue buying from them? Because customer service in England is some of the worst in the world and Farmison, with all their incompetency, are still the lesser evil. The packages arrive well packed and well iced. I never had issues with it arriving on time as well (I did with many other online butchers). I used to make large orders (10kg-20kg a month). I don’t now. I simply order the normal things like: shank, shin, featherblade, short ribs, etc. Their premade burgers are terrible in my opinion because they’re full of lower quality fat and have a bizarre off flavour and whenever I ordered expensive prime steaks I was disappointed with either the butchery itself or otherwise for not getting the breed I ordered which at a certain price range is not only unacceptable it might in fact be illegal... not joking on that one. Now that they lowered their free shipping to £40 it’s very convenient to order all the cheap cuts from them where you don’t care too much about the butchery or even what breed it is and for that and for their well packaged and on-time delivery I do recommend them. Unfortunately I can’t recommend anything else from them and that’s entirely their fault… I think that after 8 orders with days on days of email exchange across 27 emails and still only getting what I ordered once in 8 orders… yeah… that’s something they can only blame themselves really. So just to conclude and reiterate: For cheap cuts where you don’t mind the breed or butchery too much I do recommend them and for their customer service and genuine attempt to help but as they are a third party company trying to act as a front for multiple small farms and multiple small butchers – it just doesn’t work. There’s way too much “broken phone syndrome” to a level that isn’t functional or practical. I understand Farmison on their part are communicating what you’ve ordered to the butcher and it is the butcher who doesn’t or won’t follow the order carefully but the reality is I order from Farmison so it’s on them to assume responsibility. More so, you just can’t expect a person to spend £17 pounds on one prime steak and then ship something else instead… that’s more than unacceptable. Like I said, I suspect it might in fact be illegal and either way it's simply too much money to gamble with. I will say this, they did offer me discount codes almost every time something wrong happened and issued a refund whenever a certain amount I ordered wasn’t available – you can’t expect much more than that so I do genuinely believe they are trying.

Well I was a bit disappointed by the meat quality of the veal schnitzels.They were not very tender ,to get them flattened was not easy and in the pan afterwards they lost 1/3 of their size(water,artfical food)and got thick again so they were not really Vienna schnitzels.

Hi I am an overseas customer. The voucher for first time customers only last 14 days..not helpful for sending presents to family overseas with only 14 days to use it. Watch out for small print..you can only use 15GBP voucher if you spend over 50GBP...even when you have paid over 40GBP to get free delivery. I paid 46GBP and could not use my voucher. I found it difficult to see where I should apply the voucher code..I used it as soon as I received the email voucher code but should have waited until I received the the second email with the website link in. My friend receives 15% discount for introducing me but does this expire after 14 days too. he is not sure. Watch out for small print and price points.

Order arrived on time and was well packed. However the products did not resemble the images on the website in any way - and the chops were different sizes in thickness, so difficult to cook to the same degree of "done-ness". I expected these to be "lamb" chops/cutlets whereas they were at the very least hogget, Certainly will not be ordering again.

All the various cuts of beef were delicious - tasty and tender. However, I was very disappointed in the packaging - polystyrene. I had anticipated something more sustainable and won't be buying again until it is.

All of our current packaging is fully recyclable, however we do understand that not all local councils will accept the polystyrene boxes. Some of our customers manage to find really creative ways to use their boxes - such as storage or for planting. Persuaded to give mutton a go by Jamie Oliver. Don’t bother, cooked in the Aga slowly for 5 hours. Still tough as.... stick to spring lamb - juicy and tender.

Very happy with the quality of the meat, and the excellent delivery. However, I rushed to make my order after receiving an email saying free delivery if you order before midnight Sunday. I still got charged £5.95 for delivery. So I emailed customer services and they apologised and said they’d refund the delivery charge.... I’ve still not received the refund.

Not impressed with the winter warmer meat box...the stewing beef was cut up in unequal size. The ham was still salty after two days soak prior to cooking. The free steak fillet tails, one was usable ,the other was a scrap of meat. The pork butt was very nice as was the pork shoulder chops. Delivery was as usual very good.
