“Fantastic beef fillet. Great flavour. really quick delivery. 5 out of five for that Downside (which would make us reconsider ordering) is the vast polystyrene packaging that you cannot recycle. there has to be a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way to package!”

Thank you for your lovely comments on our beef fillet, we are so pleased to hear you enjoyed this product. With regards to the packaging, this is something we are committed to significant improvement in 2020. In the meantime, if your local authority doesn't recycle polystyrene, some of our customers have become quite creative with their boxes and have used them for many things including cool boxes, storage or planters. “The website is great and easy to use. Delivery was as promised. I ordered 4 rib eye steaks and the reason I don't provide a higher score is because one of the steaks was not cut correctly. The reason I chose to buy from a butcher was exactly to avoid wedge cuts. How do you cook a wedge cut steak? The should be evenly cut. This is also the reason I have hesitated to order again.”

“Very disappointed with my recent order. I'be been a customer for a few years and not had any issues but there was an item missing from my latest order. Customer services was very slow to sort this out and I had to chase a number of times before I got a refund. Also the pork steaks I received had previously been frozen, which wasn't obvious when I placed the order and I was not happy with their quality, all different shapes and sizes and lots of fat. Disappointing and hopefully a one off.”

Dear Alison, We're sorry that it took a little longer to receive your refund, but I hope the team did explain why this was 2 days late . At the time you contacted us, our call centre was receiving extremely high volumes of emails and calls, and we also had a slightly reduced team while we ensured the team could work safely from home or office. “Received meat very nice but the black pudding was unedible the amount of salt in it we tried one could not eat it and tried another one and that was the same the lot went in the bin I am partial to black pudding”

“Very impressed with how it was delivered. The mince was very tasty and not fatty at all. Very disappointed in the chicken breasts especially as they weren’t cheap. Unfortunately lots of pieces of chicken couldn’t be eaten because they were very chewy and tough - almost gristly. Haven’t tried the sausages or Kiev’s yet but hoping they aren’t the same as chicken breasts”

“Quality if food: exceptional! The while experience really, it has top! Our only concern was the packaging, it was polystyrene (which is one the most difficylt material to recycle, and in today’s context it is crucial they find alternatives to make friendly. We kept the first box but couldnt keep the other ones. A part from that, we would love to buy there again, but we are looking for a suitable alternative in quality with less damaging packaging.”

“I ordered the tomahawk steak for my brother as a treat however it was very poorly cut, with most of the 'eye' looking as though it had been cut out for some reason. Customer service were very apologetic and issued a refund, hence the 3 stars and not 1. I can't therefore recommend Farmison & Co for their cuts of meat but their customer service were very good.”

“The order was well packed & delivery was acceptable but I was charged £5.95 for delivery when it says on the website free delivery on orders over £40 & my order was £46.20. I ordered half a leg of lamb & received the fillet when I would have preferred a shank end & it wasn't the best that I have ever had. Customers should be able to specify which they want. The mince was grisly & the chicken was tough. The sausages however were great. Overall I don't think it was value for money. Reading other reviews I don't understand why my experience is so different to the majority. I don't like leaving poor reviews but this is my honest assessment.”

“I made an order on the advice of a friend who said the produce was top quality and I would be able to tell the difference between this and supermarket quality meat. In some cases this was true. The minced beef and goujons were delicious, however the burgers I ordered were not very nice at all. I appreciate that the meat is less processed than usual, but I couldn’t take a bit without coming across hard inedible lumps. The chicken Kiev’s were also not to my taste; there was barely any garlic butter. Beef strips were passable.”

“Good quality produce, but the email procedure for items out of stock is cumbersome and lengthy so my recipient ended up not getting her bacon (it was later refunded) despite me approving a replacement the day before her order was due to go out. Perhaps a chat or WhatsApp function would ensure more efficient communication.”

“I believe honesty is the best policy. I only buy meat for my husband as I am a vegetarian, so always look for the best quality for him to make sure the animals 'have a life' before eaten. Sadly he said the steak and sausages were not of the standard he usually has. The lamb, however, was OK but I noticed two of the leg chops were good to look at but the other two were mostly fat which I had to cut off. Sorry.”

“I was very disappointed with the cut of the flat iron steak. It was way too thick and short. It should have been flat! It's in the name. We like the hand made burgers in texture, which is why you actually get 3 rather than 2 stars. However the flavour isn't particularly exciting and the size could be larger per burger....”

“Meat is always wonderful (would be 5 stars) but I cannot bring myself to order regularly as the packaging still contains huge amounts of plastic. Why can other companies ship food without plastic but Farmison still lagging behind...... please look at better packaging.”
