“used to get a quote for home insurance spent ages filling in the forms only to be told they had to review the quote which went from £600 to £1000+ so complete waste of time and duplication of questions I had made a claim 3 years before but couldnt remember the details maybe they thought I was trying to be clever !! It was not the case but a waste of an hour or two”

A quoted price is accurate provided the information supplied on the quote form is also accurate, in this case it sounds like there may have been a discrepancy which when noticed by the insurer resulted in them recalculating the cost of the policy. As we are a comparison website, we don’t calculate the prices you receive and these are all calculated and returned by our panel of insurance providers, based on the information you entered on our website. They work out the premium based on claims statistics gathered for others with similar details and some insurers do change their rates frequently. “It's fine for getting a rough idea of what & who are available BUT pretty useless for finding what is actually involved in the detail & exceptions to various Insurance policies until you have actually signed up for them - by which time it's Too Late!”

“Website easy to use, search threw up quite a number of companies I had never heard of but I did manage to get a quote I was happy with. Tried a number of comparison sites and all had different prices with the same companies and same cover levels, so its still worth shopping around if you have the time and inclination.”

“Your system is good for getting prices for comparison. The problem with the system is that the insurance can only be done online. I have been checking your information on line for Tina Merchant who unfortunately is blind and can not see to do online operations. When making enquiries with the insurance companies given by your system she has been told that the insurance has to be done online. To insure by phone she gets directed elsewhere and the quotations are at least double that quoted on your system. This is almost like discrimination against those with visual impairment. Indeed most operations are now done online and visually impaired people don’t seem to have any contact unless penalised on prices. I realise this is not directly related to your operation but I feel that it needs to be pointed out as an issue.”

Confused.com is not an insurer so I'm afraid we are unable to assist you with making a payment for your new policy. The system is designed to be completed online as we are a comparison website but I appreciate that is not always possible for all users and apologise for any inconvenience you've encountered. Whilst not directly offered by Confused.com I believe there is software available that would make the process easier for customers with visual impairments and it is possible in many cases to purchase directly with the insurer via the phone, they would just need the quote reference number provided on Confused.com to match the quote details. A quote reference can be obtained on the results page by selecting 'More info'. We’d recommend contacting your chosen insurer directly to request assistance.
