I am not happy the free gifts; I do not want coffee etc, I want my car washes as these are useful to me.. Your new free offers are not appropriate to me as these are now similar to the compare the market. Com and other providers I will now look into future purchases elsewhere

I find this recommendation question frustrating. I should just be asked about my experience, not if I'm going to recommend an insurance comparison site in my future conversations. I have more important things to think about and I'm not a walking mouthpiece. The lowest home insurance prices that came back on my search made me think I'd be able to pay £100 less than my renewal. It said they were special prices for confused customers. When I visited the provider websites they said sorry, no, you can't have this price. No reason given and I dont understand how the figures were generated. This was two providers so what was the criteria for not giving me those prices? Usually doing a comparison is really helpful but beyond being duped by the lowest prices, the other prices for what you got were poor. I ended up going with my renewal which I've never done before.

I don't often use comparison websites. I have used Compare the Market before but recently I tried and it was almost impossible to see the results without tedious logging in and endless questions. So I used Confused.com and it was simple and hassle free.

Confused.com showed me two companies allegedly offering me comparable house insurance for £70 and £50 less than what my current insurer was asking. The £70-cheaper company, at the last minute, turned out not to offer paying an annual fee by credit card (my preferred method), and the £50-cheaper's website wouldn't progress, causing me to ring their number. Turned out it would take 2 hours for the call-answerer's system to update, and that would have been after his working day. Reluctantly, I went with my current insurer as I was running out of time.
