I was disappointed when I took my son to have his feet measured and there was only one pair of shoes in his size that were not to our liking. Therefore I ordered a pair online. The shoes were delivered fairly quickly and were a beautiful pair of shoes. However, one of the shoes was clearly marked and the leather was creased. I can only guess that they had been a display pair. When paying £48 for a NEW pair of shoes I expect just that. The shoes should be brand spanking new, clean and shiny. Not dirty, scuffed and creased. I returned the shoes and the return was processed quickly and without fuss. Back to square one.

Delivery experience was a nightmare. Gave wrong time slots initially requiring phone calls from us to get correct time we then kept getting cut off. Eventually gave time slot 4.30 delivery arrived at 2.30. Later received email stating unable to deliver at 7pm - no delivery attempted at that time as nothing left to deliver. Would never recommend delivery. Shoes are fine though.

Shoes were too big and the returns policy meant I had to pay for delivery and return so cost me £10. In future I will order from retailers with a free returns policy.

Hello Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you are disappointed in our return policy unfortunately as we offer free delivery we are currently unable to offer free returns. However you can return them to us with collect plus which is around £4.09 so much cheaper than the costs you incurred. The assistants in the shop were lacking. They put the shoes down and then went off to serve someone else. You had to go and find someone for another size etc. I requested another pair as the one pair in shop was scuffed. No more shoes in shop, but was told I could a pair sent to my home with free delivery. Excellent service and updated with emails due arrival etc. Loved the shop with so many different brands and wish there was a shop in Barnstaple.

Please make it plain that your dispatch arrangements work from Monday to Friday so that an order placed on Friday with a next day delivery could only arrive on Tuesday.

My shoes that I ordered size 8 were rather large and I then phoned and was told that it was possible to exchange them for a size 7.5 but on return you told me that you were now out of stock and Iwas very disappointed as I think you should have reserved a pair of 7.5 for me. Robin LInger

To ensure the widest range of products is available to our customers we source stock from our stores as well as our warehouse. Low stock means we have 3 pairs or less and although the stock information is updated daily we cannot guarantee availability as we may have sold the stock in one of our stores in the meantime. Very happy with the product . But I paid for 24 hour delivery and it was 3 days later than requested !!!! Left a message on there phone but no one returned my call !!!!!!

Recent purchase was a bad experience. I like Charles Clinkards as have previously found them good esp with kids shoes so as my baby needed his first pair we trekked off to the shop 20miles away. They didn't have the right size/width so I ordered a pair to be delivered. The couriers Interlink are terrible and must really be costing you business. I guess they must be cheap to use? The courier threw my package over our 6FT garden fence and considered it 'delivered'. Unfortunately, we have a dog and guess where it landed ? Once sanitised I opened the package and the shoes did not fit. I took them back to another store who measured my son a completely different size. I am now awaiting a 2nd delivery. Overall the process is now going for over 2 weeks. I just want to buy a pair of shoes from a shoe shop!!! Does it need to be this much aggro?

Delivery fast and free which is good, but most other companies offer free returns - will not order online again unless this policy changes.

On this occasion the £210 pair of suede pull-on boots I ordered arrived screwed up in the box - no cardboard inserts or packing inside the boots to keep them in shape during transit. On one boot there was a sticky label and dusty marks (as if been left on a dusty floor) although it brushed off. Not how I would expect to receive and expensive pair of boots. Quick delivery.

Great shoes but standard delivery time of 7-10 days is abysmal and shows this company is clearly out of touch with its competition. 2 days just to despatch? Why does it take 2 days to put a pair of shoes in a box? Other companies despatch AND deliver within 2 days.

We quote 2-5 working days for despatch as sometimes stock availability cannot be guaranteed in our warehouse and therefore we have to source from elsewhere on the company. I thought my experience with the site and the service was good - payment was easily processed and item was quickly delivered - but unfortunately Charles Clinkard don't offer free returns, and that is a huge issue for me (and I know, for my friends) as shoes are something that need to be tried on and, when buying online, there's a high chance that they won't fit properly/look the same one they are delivered. For me and my friends, being able to return and exchange for free is very important as it gives us the peace of mind that we can find something that fits properly. Therefore, sadly I will not recommend Charles Clinkard to my friends.

ordered shoes in store to get a phonecall days later saying cant get hold of stock money will be refunded. After 2 weeks of messing about I ordered same shoes different colour from Clinkards would have liked to be given alternatives in the first instance.

Disappointed with service for the 2nd time this year. Such a shame standards have slipped. You used to be so reputable. Now it's like I'm dealing with a car boot stall!! Trainers arrived 'tatie' & marked. Laces destroyed! All be it an additional (plain) pair was provided in box. Pricing Error. Trainers arrived with half price sticker of £17.50 yet I paid more. Rung customer services and there's nothing they can do! Bravo Charles Clinkard you have lost my custom!

We have a rigorous quality checking procedure at Charles Clinkard and therefore shoes should not be received in a marked condition – if you would like to return these to us, we would be happy to replace these for you. On top of that, please be assured I will be looking into how you received them in that condition. I have spoken to Patricia, who you called regarding the price query, but unfortunately there was no mention of your disappointment with the quality of the item you received just the price, otherwise we would of course have offered a prepaid label for you to return and replace them. The prices we have online are the same that we have in store and I can confirm that the item you purchased was on sale for £20 rather than the £17.50 you queried. For the disappointment this has caused you, i have refunded this £2.50 for you today, but please be assured that this is not the price we are selling these shoes at and I hope you will accept our apologies for the confusion caused. usually I have on problem with Charles Clinkard .. Love this site. But this time I'm still waiting for my order to arrive .. Tracked it and it was delivered to the main post office centre.. then to be delivered to the local post office nor delivery to me .. Still waiting . I wouldn't recommend Charles Clinkard to friends with this poor service .

Hello Sarah, Thank you for your email and I am sorry to hear your parcel is taking longer than usual. Delivery to Northern Ireland can sometimes take slightly longer - and it is the norm that delivery goes to a hub before distribution to local post offices. I think the Bank Holiday may have had some effect on your delivery, because the delivery service we use hasn't changed from the previous time you placed your order. I can see from the tracking information that you have your parcel now, but in future, we can always chase your parcel for you on your behalf should you wish to query its whereabouts. Ordered a pair of Sandels in your sale at £40 but when I went to the shop to try them on each Sandel was a different colour. Had to buy a pair at £55 for my holiday. Not good business, should have been checked before sending out.

The service from the shop attendants and call centre was excellent. What let down this experience was the delivery of the pair of shoes I ordered with two shoes of different sizes in the box. The delay caused has been highly inconvenient.
