The shoes were exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately both pairs of shoes looked 2nd hand. Both had marks on and those looked like they had be worn.

two pair of shoes were ordered only one turned up. On enquiry I was sent a reply stating that an email had been sent telling me one pair was out of stock, only I never received this email!

I had no problem with the purchasing process, however, living in France it was imposisble to track the order... In fact I couldn' and actually called your client services to find out how I could track my order..and was told that you couldn't track it either! The order arrived today (placed order a week ago), and I had to sign for it..but despite trying to search on the French postal service website using the tracking reference I was never able to track it Package arrived ok but torn i.e. someone had a look at what was in it... As I mentioned on a previous survey, I'd prefer to have better packaging and tracking procedures for overseas clients.

Hello, Thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear about the lack of information we were able to give with regards to the tracking of your parcel. I can see we despatched your order with Royal Mail and unfortunately once it is in their hands, we aren’t able to track it any further until the item is delivered. We are currently trialling a brand new international delivery service via the UK courier Interlink, so it is very likely if you order from us in the future your parcel will be delivered by them and you will be able to track your item each step of the way. My initial experience when trying to place the order was both frustrating and time consuming and led to me commenting unfavourably. The phone call in response was friendly, concerned and helpful. The order was subsequently placed and I am quite happy with all but the on-line ordering. M. H. Brown

The delivery to Portugal was made via a Spanish company, so the advisory e-mails were in Spanish. I was concerned when delivery was not made yesterday as advised, and the follow up e-mail offered a new date or collection - but the only collection point was in Faro, 55 miles away! However, we received a further e-mail this morning, advising a new delivery time - this time the driver telephoned and we were able to meet him locally.

I made arrangements to be available on your specified delivery date. I was then advised it would be the following day and had to rearrange my plans. The irony is I would have been happy to wait longer for my purchase if you had given me a delivery date which would not change.

Item received and courier gives an hour window delivery. That's the only good thing. Skechers are too tight so need to return and that's the bad thing, you have to pay for returns.

Ordered three pairs of shoes. One was the wrong size but it may have been my fault clicking the wrong size. I have ordered and kept many pairs of shoes from Clinkard over the past couple of years, but this delivery was disappointing and I have sent all three pairs back for refund. Unfortunately, the postage was so expensive, it is putting me off making further orders in case I am not pleased with the shoes and have to return them again. Barbara Smith

Hello, Thank-you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with the returns service - although we do offer free UK delivery on all orders, we do not currently offer free returns. However, if you are looking to minimise your returns cost, I would recommend using CollectPlus. You can print a label at home and return it via a local drop-off point, and you would only be charged £3.49 to return a parcel weighing up to 2kg. Further details of this service can be found in the 'Delivery and Returns' section of our website. Alternatively, you are welcome to return the items to any Charles Clinkard branch for a refund. We advise that all orders are dispatched within a maximum of 5 working days, although we aim to dispatch all orders as quickly as possible and the vast majority of orders are dispatched within 2-3 working days. We also offer Express (guaranteed within 3 working days) and Next Day dispatch options on our website, at a cost of £2.99 and £5.99 respectively, should you be interested in future. Delivery took about 5 days for 2 pairs of boots, which was okay, but the packaging was not great. One was wrapped too tightly resulting in it tearing and the boot box almost falling out and apart because of the resulting damage in transit.

Disappointed that the shoes I ordered on a Thursday afternoon first day delivery, which I paid more for, arrived on Monday afternoon. I did not notice anything on the website which told me there was a deadline for next day delivery. It did not stop me using this method.

As you have suggested, our 'Next Day' delivery service is based on a 4pm cut-off each day, in order to meet our dispatch deadline with our couriers each evening. This means that any orders placed after this cut-off are dispatched the following day. I have always had a very good service from Charles Clinkards - I was a little disappointed that the boots I ordered had not been checked prior to sending. The boots had a mark on the front which could not be removed - had to wait for a new pair to be ordered.

I was a bit unimpressed by CC's email updates once I'd placed my order. An email advising me that it was going to be delivered never materialised, so it was handy that I happened to be at home that morning. The handbag I'd ordered was lovely, but the popper/closure didn't work properly, which was disappointing. On the plus side, when I emailed Customer Service they rang me immediately and suggested I take the handbag to my local CC shop, where it was accepted as a return without any quibbling even though I'd binned the receipt. And a replacement bag was ordered. Everyone was lovely to me, but I was quite surprised to receive faulty merchandise in the first instance.

Ordered online, first time ever for shoes. They did arrive quickly, but were grossly uncomfortable. Not C.Ks fault though. However I had to take them back to Bristol (50mile round trip) or post them back at my cost. The refund procedure was very efficient though. I would have tried some more in Cribbs Causeway Bristol, but the shop was heaving and cluttered. In my opinion very badly laid out, so I left without purchasing. Shame because I used to like this shop.

Unfortunately, this is part and parcel of the process of ordering shoes online - you can never be sure of fitting without trying them on. As you have suggested, we do not cover the cost of returns, although we do offer free UK delivery on all orders. However, our returns policies are continually being assessed and I will pass this feedback on to be considered. ordered boots in online sale 18/1/15. collected in store 25/1/15. disappointed with communication from clinkards as I hadn't had a phone call or e-mail to say they were ready for collection, I'd jut called to store on spec when I was shopping in city centre. not sure I'd wait 1 week for "click and collect" type service in the future?

It can take up to 5 working days to dispatch an order on standard delivery, although around 90% of orders are dispatched within 2 working days. We do also offer an expedited service at the point of checkout, which can guarantee a shorter delivery window if this is required, Your order was available in the Newcastle store from the 22nd of January so I am sorry you were not made aware that your shoes were available to collect. I ordered two pairs of shoes, one (as an afterthought) a few minutes after the other, in separate orders, so that my daughter would have a choice and could see which fitted best. Yet they arrived on different days! The items themselves were fine, but both shoe boxes arrived packed in branded plastic bags that smelled dank and nasty, as though they'd got damp. I threw them away immediately. My main problem was that although delivery was free and the Collect+ service was offered, I hadn't noticed that return postage was at my expense; and since one pair was uncomfortable (despite having tried the same style and size in another shop, which didn't offer the patent finish) and the others didn't look nearly as nice as in the pics, this was a significant cost. Whenever I've ordered online using Collect+ from other companies, returns have been free via a local store and I made an assumption. So just be aware of this before ordering unless you're 100% sure about your purchase!

Hello Suzanna, Thank you for your feedback. I am shocked to read that the dispatch bags you received had a smell. We haven't had this complaint before but I will follow this up with our couriers. I can assure you, it would not have left us in that condition. Unfortunately, at the moment, whilst we do offer free delivery, we do not offer free returns. We try and make this clear on our website both in our terms and conditions and on the description page under each product. We do continually review our delivery and returns policies so I thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback and I will ensure it is passed on to be considered. We keep an eye on the cost for returning items and most customers find it cheaper to use Royal Mail at the moment, usually coming out between £2-4 to return. We do offer a Collect+ link on our website too, so you can print a £4.85 label that will cover multiple items in a return. Also, you are welcome to return your purchases in store. I can see you live quite close to the Bristol Charles Clinkard store, please be advised for future reference, that your parcels can be returned there. The ankle boots are excellent but the delivery service let you down. Instructions were given verbally and acknowledged on line that if no one at home to place the delivery in the garden shed and the padlock code was supplied. However the parcel was left outside the shed but crazily the delivery confirmation email stated the parcel was left in the shed but the photo attached by your carrier shows it placed outside the shed....not very clever. We also could not get your on line website to work which was why the order was placed verbally. Will not risk using you again although product and price excellent.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to read you have had a problem with delivery. The special instructions you left were added to the order and therefore passed to our couriers, Interlink. Interlink are usually very good at delivering parcels in the most convenient way for our customers but I am sorry that they failed on this occasion. Most special instructions are along the lines of ''leave in porch'' or ''leave with neighbour'' and I think your instructions, which were slightly more involved than Interlink normally get, were lost in translation. I will follow this up with Interlink because it shouldn't have been left outside the shed if there was a problem with the instruction you had left. I hope this hasn't put you off ordering with us again, as I stated above, Interlink are widely regarded as an excellent courier service and I am therefore confident that this was an isolated incident. We have logged the problem you had ordering online, on a separate note, but it doesn't look like it affected any other customers at the time, so we are struggling to get to the bottom of what the issue was. I am pleased that we could place the order for you over the phone, failing you ordering online. Always have a good choice of stock and know the Childrens feet are measured correctly. The only let down I always seem to experience are the staff are not friendly and never approach you and ask if you need help. Both stores I visit Northallerton and Middlesbrough seem to lack the basic customer service skills, to be greeted with a smile goes a long way.
