Website problems, thought I'd ordered as went through PayPal payment route. Told 5 days later when I chased delivery that order hadn't full completed so not placed. Was told "it sometimes does that'. After that service was great but am reluctant to order again unless by telephone

Hello Julie, Thank you for your review and I am sorry about the problem you experienced placing your order originally. I am not sure why you have had a problem placing and order online - I have checked our system and we received orders before, during and after the time you had the problem. I have referred the problem to our tech team to see if they can see anything further. I am pleased that once the problem was resolved that you were happy with the service again. the website is good but on ordering a size 3 shoe and got sent a size 8 wasn't a good start. Had a label sent to me so I could send the shoes back and was told I would get the replacements this weekend have not heard anything. I have not had any communication to say the shoes are on their way. I was told you had to wait for my shoes to arrive back before you would send the correct pair out to me? don't know why I had to wait unless these were the only size 3 you had?

Had an email to say shoes were on their way to store but no email to say when they had arrived - I don't live in Witney - could have done with some info before driving in to collect them!

I loved my grandaughter shoes, when I saw the box was torn I got worried. Yes the shoes had a two inch brown scuff on toe, stood out as shoes are white. I have managed to reduce the mark somewhat, I may still send them back, have not decided yet. Thank you.

The service was very good, but unfortunately the picture on line was very misleading. The shoe looked. Dry different in reality.

Bought 4 pairs of shoes - one pair in two sizes - so sent one pair back - had to pay return postage - will not order shoes on the web from this company again.

It was my child's first pair of shoes. Other parents I know have been offered a photo of the child wearing their first pair of shoes. I was not offered this service. I didn't feel as though my experience was special and the service is obviously offered to do so.

Charles Clinkard has a very good collection of quality, comfortable, fashionable shoes which are normally difficult to find under one roof. It would be great if there were more retail outlets, particularly as the customer is obliged to pay the returns cost of online sales. Many websites offer free postal returns or free collect plus. As shoes are generally so difficult to select without trying first, I would definitely choose Clinkard more often if free returns were an option. Although it is possible to return shoes to a store, they are unfortunately few and far between. Our nearest is quite a distance away. Other than that, I have found the website easy to navigate and the service reasonable, although a little slow to despatch.

Shopping easy, quick service, however delivery poor. Following notification of the delivery date I was asked if I would like the delivery address changed, as I knew I would not be at home on the notified delivery date I changed delivery address to a neighbours and received a notification via email that delivery address had been changed. On arriving home late evening I found a note stating "Parcel behind plant" after searching behind all plants no parcel was found. It was the following morning I was informed by a neighbour that they had seen a parcel on my doorstep by my plant plot a knowing I was not in they took the parcel to their house.

Service fine Click and collect could be faster as takes days longer in comparison with other companies. I could have done without the sale label stuck on the insole of the mules as I struggled to get it off and it has left a mark behind where the surface has been removed along with the glue of the label - the labels are not designed to be stuck onto a suede like finish.

Thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with our Click & Collect service. We aim to despatch all items within 2-5 working days & when I have tracked your order I can see it was ready to be collected within 3 working days. If in future you require a quicker delivery, please let the shop know when you place the order and hopefully we will be able to accommodate. With regards to the sale sticker, I can assure you that over a number of years we have tried alternative solutions and unfortunately the current format is really the only way to be able to have sale prepared in the volume in which it offers our customers the best sale reductions. Putting stickers on the sole units is not an option as they fall off units of a certain composition and we have previously tried to put the stickers on plastic swing tickets, however to attach the plastic ticket you need to kimble it to the product and this causes further damage. I do appreciate your frustration though and of course we want customers to be delighted with their purchases. Often using a cloth with hot water will take of any residue. If you would prefer the branch to clean them up for you, please return to Oxford and they will be happy to do so. I was very upset - i bought a pair of Gabor wedge mules - wanted black suede thought i clicked on that - when i got them they were green. i phoned and said my error and the said i had to pay to return them, i should have check my confirmation - i did it said military suede - i wanted black suede - i did not know they were not black, i thought it was correct as they did not show the shoes in colour then i would have known they were green and not black suede. The lady on the phone although very polite seemed to think i should have known military was green! Unfortunately, i leave myself with no shoes and a bill to return them to you or a trip from Watford to Guildford, then i do not pay postage. I will never use your site again - 1st and last time. very disappointed - it was not clear. At the same time i bought from jones - paid postage got exactly what i wanted - excellent! Clinkard - Poor not to be used or recommended very disappointed - wrote to customer services - they said to put the shoes in at the post office or drive 30 miles to Guildford - brillant Recommendation ( Now i am such a unhappy customer) I buy a lot of Gabor shoes, sandals and boots. I'm unable to give a higher score as when my order arrived one of the pair of shoes was the wrong size! which I needed as I had planned to wear them the evening after they arrived.

At £89.99 the Gabor Wallace shoes in black suede are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought and the most uncomfortable. I bought them for my holidays on board Queen Elizabeth and they absolutely crippled me! If rating Gabor shoes they would be in the minuses.

All items should be rigorously checked before being dispatched, and I can only apologise that a proper check has not been carried out on this occasion. They didn't have the shoes in stock for my daughter in her size so they ordered them to be posted out to us. We then took them in to the shop to be fitted. The assistant suggested using an inner sole to make them fit better and seemed to think they were ok but when the manager checked she said they definitely didn't fit. The difference of opinion of the two members of staff has made me very weary of shopping there again - if the manager hadn't have checked, we would have ended up keeping shoes that didn't actually fit! Having said that, the staff were very pleasant and patient with us.

Hello Claire, Thank you for providing feedback on your experience. You were served by a member of staff that was training and that is why a Manager’s opinion was sought. This is common procedure when a newer member of the team is working. This is in recognition of the fact that they are still learning and also, to avoid any incorrect fittings from leaving the store. Incorrect decisions can be made, by a new member of the team in training, but that is why we have the safeguard of a Manager’s opinion on every pair fitted. Shoe fitting is quite a specific skill and it is only once we are confident that a new member of staff is fully trained, that we will allow a pair to leave the shop without the Manager double checking the fit. This is for your protection, but also, it allows us to offer children and their parents a high level of expertise, irrespective of who is measuring. Saw a product on the web site and tried to order it in store but it was on line only Ordered it to be delivered to store. Received an email a couple of days later saying the item had been dispatched. 3 days later I contacted the store and was told it was on that days delivery. When I went to collect my purchase (late afternoon) the delivery was just arriving. However the assistant sorted it very quickly and I was happy with the service given.

I have difficulty getting shoes to fit, love the vast range that you have. But the staff seem to be serving two or three people at a time which is frustrating when you need to try in as many pairs as I do to get something to fit. I am returning the ones I have bought as when I tried them at home they still hurt my feet. I hope when I go in again that I can have a better service to try others on.

Goods arrived within expected timeframe and very helpful to have Collect+. Unfortunately, I am going to have to return the purchase as the boots are too big so I cannot yet comment on how efficient the refund service will be. However, it is regrettable that the Collect+ service is not available for returns and that I will have to pay for the Royal Mail postage.

You can return the boots to us via collect plus there is a link to this service via our website where you can purchase a returns label which I believe is £3.89, which may be cheaper than Royal Mail.
