The Bibo machine itself is brilliant, one of the best purchases we have ever made and we couldn't now be without it. However the cost of the cleaning solutions is ridiculous. You get one small bottle of solution and a pack of litmus paper strips for £20. A comparable descaling solution is only a few pounds in most supermarkets so why is this one so expensive? After a bit of research I discovered the solution is Sulphamic Acid and this can be bought in powder form on the internet and mixed with water at home. A 5kg tub will make up 50 litres of solution and costs £24.59. Compare that to the Bibo solution at £19.99 for 200ml!! That's 250 bottles against 1 for only £5 more. I know I am being pedantic and most people wouldn't bother with making it themselves but the above does show the price is way over the top.

Hi Leigh, it is great to hear you wouldn't be without your BIBO! The BIBO de-scale solution is formulated & packed specifically for use in the BIBO Classic & Bar hot tanks, it's based on a proven de-scaler liquid made by a high quality producer in the USA and was chosen after extensive testing. It’s a Citric and Sulphamic acid blend, nothing similar that can be bought locally or replicated by buying a sulphamic crystal or powder and mixing it at home. The packaging & postage alone accounts for nearly £8.00 of the total cost. As the amount of solution we sell is growing we are working with our supplier to reduce the cost and of course any savings will be passed on to our customers.

Buying a BIBO was one of my better decisions, have had ours for two years now with no problems. No messing about filling kettles and waiting for them to boil, no filling water bottles and changing filters and finding room in the fridge. This is one family that would not be without their BIBO.

As a disabled person I find the Bibo a very helpful asset. Easy to use and gone are the days of having boiling water dropped on me

Love having the Bibo, could be a bit quieter and has running costs for filters and lime scale treatment but the pros outweigh the cons.

As always, very friendly and supportive. This is a company that makes a point of going the extra mile. It is just a shame that my BIBO has had a couple of problems.

Does what you expect instant hot or cold that's it really, does not filter out limescale so needs to be descaled regularly ,descale refill could do with being a lot cheaper

Wouldn't buy a BIBO again. Wasn't told that in addition to filters, there was also a need to purchase cleaning solutions yearly at a further cost of up to £40. After buying the solution recently due to the BIBO leaking, there was no instructions sent. I emailed BIBO for instructions but while waiting for a reply looked online and carried out the procedure as shown, as I needed to stop the water dripping constantly. NOWHERE on the web-site did it say leave the solution in the tank for 8 hours, so when I finally received the emailed instructions I felt as if I'd wasted £19.95. This machine has far too expensive running costs.

Hi Mariana, thanks for your feedback and I am sorry you feel the machine has expensive running costs. Once you have purchased the cleaning kit you then only need to purchase the refill solutions yearly. This solution is £19.99. I am sorry that instructions were not sent with your cleaning solution but the full cleaning instructions on our website advise of the 8 hour process here: http://www.bibowater.co.uk/descale/.

The unit is good for measured delivery of hot and cold water. Its less good for using for filling pans for cooking, the boiler runs out of hot water quite quickly and then takes a while to reheat. The touch panel has an annoying habit of not responding to any request and it will do this frequently. It also has a limited range of control for timing the water to switch on and off. The noise produced from the cooling function can be intrusive. The on tap availability of a measured supply of hot water for a single cup of tea or coffee is the only thing that is keeping it on the counter. Overall, just ok.

Thanks for your feedback Michael and it's great to hear you enjoy the convenience of having your BIBO! The hot tank inside your BIBO is 1 1/2 litres so once you dispense this amount, the machine will need some time to heat back up. The noise of the machine is often equated to your fridge and should not be intrusive at all. I will get in touch with you regarding this and your screen as this should be very responsive every time you come to use it. You have an extended warranty with us so a visit out to have a look at this would be FOC for you!

Love the availability of constant hot & cold water, however we have had three faults with our machine, currently awaiting the third engineer visit in about three years, they do attend very promptly but I am glad I took out the extended warranty.

Love, love, love my BIBO and bore many people telling them how great it is. Not only does it provide delicious hot and cold water, it is so easy to maintain. Clearly much thought has gone into the design of the machine - if only more products were so well thought out!

I love Bibo because it makes my water drinkable in a very hard water area, My coffee and tea no longer have a metallic taste, and the cold water is perfect. What I did not take into my calculations was the Classic filter kit and the two cleansing kits I have to purchase every year, costing £139. 00. On a pension I find this a problem. Also, when changing the filter or cleaning the tank I am unable to remove the old filter without the aid of pliers, and even then it is a struggle. So all in all I probably would not buy another one. However, I have always found the staff who deal with after sales extremely efficient and friendly when they deal with my queries.

Thanks for your feedback, Janet and I am so glad to hear you love your BIBO. We try to keep the costs down as much as possible and the filters on our filter pack delivery service work out at just 20p a day. We have made our cleaning kit partly reusable so it is only the refill solutions you need to continue to purchase. We provide a filter handle with every filter pack to help you get the filters out of the machine so I will pop one in the post for you today! Best regards.
