I arranged a delivery from Anyvan to return some items i purchased. They took the items and did not get to the drop off address in time and hence had to redeliver the followig day. when they arrived, the courier driver did not have any safety equipment and were not allowed into the site to drop off. Anyvan charged me more to attempt delivery the following day with safety boots and a High vis jacket. there reason was that i did not tell them they needed safety equipment, so i was stuck in the middle. The law clearly states that courier companies that transport heavy items, should have basic equipment such as a safety helmet, safety shoes and a high vis jacket.

This was my experience: June 11: I booked a move online for June 25. AnyVan confirmed the booking for that date. June 24, 10:00 PM: I received a call from AnyVan informing me that they had been unable to find anyone to carry out the move on the scheduled date, but that they could do it on June 26 instead. They gave me only 10 minutes to say "yes" or "no." After making several phone calls to rearrange my plans, I finally agreed to move the date to June 26. June 25, 9:00 AM: AnyVan called me again to say that they had finally found someone to carry out the move on the originally agreed date, June 25. And here's the icing on the cake: since they had now found someone for June 25, if I still wanted to keep the move on June 26, I would have to pay an additional charge. This is the level of customer service this company provides.

Driver kept telling that there was another appointment, charged more for the extra things that I had, which was ok, and in the end they left half of the things back and never moved them. Customer service did not do anything about it

Hi There, Thanks for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your experience on the day. We understand how frustrating it would have been to have items left behind, especially during an already stressful move. We operate on an inventory-based service, meaning the transport partner can only move and charge for items that are included and agreed within the booking. If additional items are identified or requested on the day, these must be confirmed before they can be included in the move. In this instance, the items left behind were not part of the agreed inventory, which is why they were not transported. We’re also sorry to hear you felt unsupported when raising this with customer service, and for any confusion regarding the communication on the day. Kind regards, AnyVan

Awful and damages. A move from Cambridgeshire to London storage unit. Having already put up with the fact that my bill was going to be more than double the initial estimate, I was then charged a further £195. before the truck arrived The "team" that were supposed to turn up didn't. A bloke and his son arrived, they were clumsy and in a hurry, they asked for even more money so another £70.00 was paid, when I told them how much the company had charged me they were aghast seems Anyvan just farm out jobs like skimming agents. They then left items behind claiming no more room. They also left rubbish and food wrappings from their lunch all over the road and pavement. A friend saw the removal into London storage as I was forced to remain to deal with the stuff they'd left behind and other issues, he told me they were in a bad mood and in a hurry. I managed to get to the storage 7 days after the move and informed Anyvan that there were breakages and that stuff looked like it had been thrown into the unit, I could not actually get in without unpacking the entire unit. Initially I contacted via Whatsapp where my messages were ignored. Then via their complaints form, which is extensive, with photos of broken items (there may be more) and bad packing. I was then told they couldn't do anything about anything because I hadn't complained within 7 days of the move as stated in their contract ... it is not stated in their contract ... and in any case I had reported it. I asked for them to reconsider but have been ignored ever since. Having done all asked of me. I am now considering legal action.

Hi Jerry, Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear about your experience and the frustration you’ve described. We’ve reviewed your booking in full and can see that this was an inventory-based service. Prior to the move, additional items were added via your online booking confirmation portal, which increased the overall scope of the job. This change was made 3 days before the move date, and the £195 charge relates to the additional space, time, and labour required to safely complete the updated inventory. In relation to the £70 payment you’ve mentioned, we don’t have a record of this within our system. If you have any evidence of this charge, please do share it with our team so we can investigate further. With regard to the concerns raised about damage, we’re really sorry to hear this. However, as outlined in our terms and conditions, any damage must be reported within 7 days of the move date so that we’re able to properly investigate and raise this with the transport partner. As this timeframe hasn’t been met in this instance, we’re unfortunately unable to progress this further under our claims process. We’re sorry again that your experience fell short of expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback. Kind regards, AnyVan

I contacted AnyVan in regards to the pick-up of a sofa at one location and delivery to another, and removal of the old sofa at the delivery location. I contacted the company via WhatsApp, and it took several days to get the booking confirmed as I had to resend the details several times. I also contacted the company via the website due to this, and at around the same time I received two quotes of differing amounts. Thankfully I was offered the lower amount. I then passed on additional details to the company to ensure that all would be going smoothly on the day. The first additional detail was the number of stairs in either property. After confirming, I was charged an additional £17, which I accepted. I would have thought this would have been established at the time of booking but due to the environment it couldn't be helped so I did not dispute the charge. Due to work and life commitments, I requested the delivery happen before 3.30pm, and I was given a timeslot of between 8 and 2, which is 6 hours and quite wide. For context, the person I was picking the sofa up from technically no longer lives at the property so needed to travel, and kindly requested that I ask the company to call him 2 hours before they were due to arrive so he could travel from work and be at the property accordingly. I passed this request onto the company who assured me that they had contacted the driver about this request and had also left a note on my job about it. It was at this stage I realised that the address for delivery was wrong, and was able to swiftly correct it. The day of the delivery, I wake up to the person the sofa is being collected from saying that the driver was at the location at 8am, and he was at work so could not let them in. Neither of us had been called in advanced as requested, and as a result the job had been cancelled. I proceeded to spend upwards of an hour making several phonecalls to AnyVan (when I should have been working) to try and understand what had happened, and it is still not clear to me how this mistake occurred despite all the measures put in place. I was offered a redelivery slot in the evening, to which I reminded AnyVan that that wouldn't work and it is too short notice for both me and the sofa's owner to make subsequent rearrangements. I was then offered a 'free reschedule' for the day after, which I accepted, but I supplied the caveat that due to the change in day, the owner of the sofa and I were only available between 1 and 3pm. The timeslot was adjusted and then I was hit with an additional surcharge of £38. I attempted to dispute this but in the end I had to accept it because otherwise the job could not go ahead and I would have paid almost £200 for nothing in return. I am appalled at the terrible communication across the board from AnyVan, from the moment I tried to book the job to the actual execution of the job itself. I am also quite unhappy about the frequency and amount of additional charges I had to pay on top of the original quote. I was originally quoted £115 and I went with AnyVan because they were the cheapest option. I was then charged an additional £55 over the course of the job (so almost 50% extra) due to factors outside of my control, including a mistake on the part of AnyVan. This resulted in the job actually being more expensive than other companies I researched the job for. I find this extortionate not only in practice but in price - for context, I did a full house move for £160 with another man and van company, and this was one up-front cost with no additional charges prior to the final invoice, and a much smoother experience overall. I have paid more to AnyVan for the removal and disposal of one piece of furniture, and I had to pay extra for a mistake that was made by YOU. Additionally, the disposal service I paid for was then defaulted on the day with no prior warning that there were pre-requisites the sofa needed to meet prior to disposal. I was only offered a £50 refund which is unlikely to cover the cost of another disposal service, and is no sufficient compensation for the time in doing so.
