“They replied very quickly and I phoned to accept they then asked for a photo and it turns out to be the wrong part. So I actually had no dealing/

“Straight forward transaction next day delivery only problem is I repeatedly asked for a W419 gearbox And Tom confirmed it various times only to discover that it was a W394 gearbox which I only discovered after the mechanic had installed it”

“Got a good quote via 1st Choice. The site wouldn’t allow me to order on line through it, for some reason. Maybe because I am in France?
I contacted , well I tried to contact 1st choice via the contact page on their site. I never got a response......

“Very good with sending your info out to car breakers and getting quick replays.How ever I feel that they should investigate some of the sellers on their website particular the Car and Van Breakers known as ROYTONS Car and Van Breakers Ltd of Oldham. The reason for this is because they say that they have the part you want. Then take your money and you receive nothing in return. To top it all when you ring them, email them you get no response .”

“Can't fault first choice but my experience with one of your suppliers has been horrendous. I agreed to purchase the part from Hancock car dismantling and paid the £33 plus £11 delivery, when the part arrived it was found not fit for purpose. I immediately contacted Mr Hancock who said he was on holiday and would refund me when he returned. After many phone calls with Mr Hancock I still haven't received anything. I returned the item as requested for a cost of £7.50. and given details of my bank card but there seems to be one excuse after another, please warn all your other customers.”

“Delivery did not arrive until two days after it was promised, which meant we had to stay in unnecessarily. We should have received delivery updates from the courier but this did not happen either. However, when the item arrived it appears to be just what we needed, although it has been too cold and wet to fit it so far. I think the delivery process needs to be streamlined which would result in a "very good" score, as everything else was fine.”

“The service received was good and Orange Salvage were very helpful. A suitable gearbox was found and the purchase made. Delivery was scheduled within 2 days. After 3 days I rang to find out the delivery details. The contact Tom said he would investigate and call back. This he did only to tell me the gearbox had not been sent as it was faulty. This was fine but no one had bothered to let me know! So 3 days wasted! The search began again!
The next day I received a call from Car & Commercial Dismantlers Ltd, Rochdale. The lady explained they had a suitable gearbox for my car. It had done only 53,000 miles! I agreed to purchase and it arrived last Friday. My garage was alarmed at it's condition. Externally heavily corroded and one of the drive shaft supports was vey rusty internally. This was easily visible from the outside. My garage would not fit it to the car! I contacted the supplier to express our concern but the contact, Tom, was very dismissive and said what do you expect "it's a second-hand old gearbox; the rust won't matter! You can easily clean it out!" Well it is not easy to clean out and of course some of the rust will fall into the differential. He said "that won't matter" In other words he was not interested and offered no other help or advice.
So we tried to clean the shaft support very carefully. We also decided that we would have to renew the outer oil seal. When removed it revealed that the roller support bearing was also heavily contaminated with rust flakes!
Naturally the garage was not happy nor am I. I have a gearbox which I may not be able to use! The garage is deciding what to do. They are considering whether to remove the differential housing and to renew the roller bearing. This may resolve the problem?
I do not think the suppliers attitude correct. They really couldn't care less!
The 53,000 mile gearbox had obviously been "stored" in very poor conditions. More like you might expect from an old style breakers yard not from a careful Dismantlers premises where the parts are properly sorted and stored!
Maybe you should "vet" your associated companies to ensure that proper standards are met?”

“Deliver and contents arrived.glass of windscreen not broken.however I ordered a boot and received only the skin of boot ,all the inside was removed. More labour now involved. Haven't yet called supplier. Wasn't told would be only the skin and glass.”
