“I have been a customer of IDS (formerly dance direct for over 15 years). I find that much stock is hard to get and most items are unavailable to purchase anymore. I completely understand that it may be very hard to get hold of certain items now but am disappointed with the alternatives, as the quality and style are not the same. I have unfortunately now had to look at other sites to cater for my needs and requirements. Like ‘June’ pink leotards, georgette wrap skirts and the P60 leotards and wrap skirts.”

Thank you for the review and your custom over the last 15 years. IDS has been supplying teachers for over 40 years and it has only been recently that we have had problems with supply. It is true that the Plume range of garments that we offered when we took over Dance Direct (which is now our sister company) are no longer available in Europe but we have 1st Position garments that are the same designs and of a high quality. If you want some help in choosing the replacement garments please phone customer services on 01626 363232 and someone will be only too pleased to assist you. We hope that we can continue to supply you with what you need and look forward to another 15 years working together.

“Hi! It´s my first order with IDS. Everything is great, delivery, products etc. However, I found that the prices have increased and I am wondering if it´s still worth ordering through IDS.”

Thank you for your review and welcome to IDS. It is great when we have customers from Norway ordering from us. As far as the prices are concerned they are still about 40% cheaper than Retail prices. As you are aware everything from raw materials to transport have gone up dramatically yet we have kept the price rise as low as we can and is the first increase since 2019. I hope you will continue to buy from us as we always try to give the best value for money and pride ourselves on our product selection and quality.

“Stock levels are still hot and miss but much better than three months ago. Customer service staff are hit and miss - some seem to care a lot, other not so much. Could look at shipping faster if in stock based on postage costs.”

Thank you for the review and your custom over the past 18 months. We apologise if you feel the service level is not as expected. We have improved our shipping times and product availability. Unfortunately the past couple of years did have a domino effect on many things, including factories and suppliers closing. We have now arranged alternative sources in case of unpredicted events happening again. In the meantime we are doing our best to get stock levels up to where they used to be. Any order placed before 12 noon is despatched the same day on a 48 hour tracked service but you can request an upgrade to next day delivery.

We are, like you, at the mercy of our suppliers and as a consequence of this we are arranging alternative sources while still maintaining our high standards of quality and value for money. “Increasingly frustrated waiting for items that have been on back order or out of stock for months. My whole school uniform for all genres is from IDS and although I am a loyal customer I have considered changing to another supplier due to frustrations recently. Other than the above have always received excellent service from IDS for 25+ years.”

“Brilliant service. My supplier of 25 years ceased trading. I tried another suppler and wasn't very impressed. Looking forward to ordering all our tap, ballet, jazz and character shoes from IDS for our dance production in November. The member of staff on the phone was extremely helpful and patient. I received my order the following day. Can't fault this service.”

“Hello, The only reason I have put POOR on this is because I sent an email about ten days ago about a problem with a batch of dresses I got earlier in the year. I haven't had a response yet. (Yellow and white polka dot swing style dresses). Your service is always fantastic and I'm always praising you. But on this occasion I feel a little let down. ALL the dresses had zip problems at the dress rehearsal (we had professional chaperones on the job, so it wasn't down to useless students!) I then had to go spend £400 the next day to get a last minute replacement for opening night. Any response would be fabulous. Thanks Louise Denison”
