Took my spare mountain bike from an occasional ride, to my main short haul transportation choice. Flattens hills and makes most trips in the city a low effort experience. Happy to leave the car parked.

Summary:- This review is from my personal experience only. The product reliability is very poor. The battery located in the wrong place making the bike more unstable. The motor should probably be located in the rear wheel. The installation was substantially more difficult than had been suggested. If I ever convert another bike I won’t use Swytch. Detail:- The below is my personal opinion, based on my experience only. I don’t have any information from anyone else’s experience. Reliability. We have received our Swytch Kit in October 2021. In September 2023, it stopped working and according to Swytch “your ECO/PRO kit has now reached the end of its life”. It has covered around 250 miles and in reality it would have been cheaper to cover the distance in an Uber. Swytch want me to upgrade to a new kit and have given some money off, but given the reliability of the first I am reluctant to throw good money after bad. I am going to cut my losses. Location of the battery. Having the battery on the handlebars makes the bike much more unstable, particularly if you have a short stem. In my opinion the battery should be located much lower down and on the frame of the bike note the handlebars. I suggest below the cross bar. You will note that the bike delivery riders in the cities have this arrangement. Location of the motor The motor is housed in the front wheel. Having a direct drive motor in the wheel is a good thing as it means that you get all the 250 Watts and you don’t lose any power through the chain mechanism. However, I would note that the majority of the bike delivery riders have the motor in the back wheel. Installation. It was suggested that the installation would be easy and in theory it should be, however in my case the front wheel did not fit in the slot in the front forks and this required some time with a file and careful measuring. I overcame the difficulty eventually. Delivery from order. The order delivery time was quoted as 10 weeks (from my memory). It did take that sort of time. We ordered on a nice summer day, 10 weeks on the seasons had obviously changed, hence we were not able to use the Swytch bike other than for testing until the spring. All of that is obvious and as the company indicated, however I should have thought of the implications of the 10 week delivery at ordering. My mistake.

I'm so pleased with my Swytch electric conversion. I mostly use my bike for local trips and it takes all the slog out of a hill that I used to struggle on with a full load of shopping and makes regular cycling smooth and effortless. Installation was done by my handyman who found it straightforward and took him a couple of hours. I do wish I'd got the more powerful battery to do occasional longer trips.

Just wasted 50 minutes writing a slagging review. Then system failed. Pretty expected dealing with children.

Absolutely superb. A minor modification was required to get pedal sensor to fit, but really wonderful addition to Mrs Carroll's bike. We are getting 30km from each air battery on a Lithium Pinnacle 2 with a 47.5kg rider on mostly flat terrain in warm conditions. Great to eliminate wind drag.

I love the Swytch system. Easy install and now getting more miles on the bike then its had in years. The Swytch team has been fast responding and always helpful. When I put the motor on I did a upgrade on the rest of the bike. Very fun ride.

The kit fits and rides smoothly. Because it's an old bike model with brakes on the center of the weel disk itself, after converting to the Swytch wheel the bike had no front brakes. The local repair shop had to find vintage brakes that match the bike model. And yes, when you go electric, you want to have good brakes! ;)

No answer from customer service and the product not working. I had a problem with the bike. The LED screen is no longer works and therefore the bike doesn't work either. I wrote to the CS and nobody answered me as already happened in the paset. How can I manage to get any assistance (since I am also under warranty)?

It's a game changer :) First of all, the installation is VERY easy, and you can find all documentation needed to do it and understand how the kit works. Then, when you start to use it and discover the world of electric bike, you just regrets that the battery is a little bit short on autonomy. But hey, that's a price to pay for its light weight and the simple attach system. 5/5 !

Worth the money, fit on my very old bicycle and gave it a second life. Would strongly recommend conversion kit for both adults and kids. Make sure to check the wheel fit into the forks, otherwise all went well. Best part is rear wheel is unchanged.

The kit was easy to adapt to my bicycle. It performs well. I am satisfied with the kit. There is one thing I need to improve on. When I purchased the electric kit, I taught the bike would work by electric power not only by pedaling but also by its own power. I found out from your company that I would have to purchase a throttle. I want to purchase such a throttle. Please advice me how. Normand llnol@juno.com also, I would like to add a photo of my bike. It is on my cell phone. I don't know how to do this. Can you help?

The kit works well with the bicycle and enhances the ride. A typical ride is 25km in distance with no issues running out of battery. Even if the battery ran out, it’s not heavy enough to hinder the ride.

A tad difficult to install (pedal mechanism). The power makes it easier to get up hills but the range is not as far as my NCM Milano. That said, the battery is lighter and easy to take with me if I am stopping to shop. I am in my mid 60's, so I enjoy the help while cycling my home city of many hills on a very comfortable bike with a "flat foot" frame. Although the cost to convert the bike (at 50% off) was almost what I paid for my Townie Electra originally in 2014, it was still $1k less than buying a new electric version of my cruiser.

I really enjoy riding my Swytch-powered Trek. It destroys trails and does a really awesome job on the road. It's quiet and smooth, and so unobtrusive. My kit is all dark-grey on a matt-navy bike, it just looks slick. The assembly is easy, though my kit needed slight mods to suit my forks.

Fitted the device no problem (you may need more than one pair on hands). However when I went to use it the motor does not work. I have followed the instructions to test the swytch kit and nothing works and the hub doesn't spin . I raised it with customer services who took 2 weeks to come back to me only to tell me to perform the tests again and tell them the outcome. I went through all this again went back to them, came back after a week just to tell me to fill in an online form. Very angry and sad as it isnt exactly cheap and I just have a bunch of scrap metal attached to my bike that doesn't work.

We were missing the pedal sensor from our Switch conversion bikes when we started on a bike ride a couple of weeks ago after hauling the bikes on the back of the camper to our nearby campground. We were still able to have a great time since we have the optional thumb throttles. When I contacted customer service with a description of the problem, they dispatched replacement parts the same day. Couldn't ask for better service than that.

Regards Berry  -------- Oorspronkelijk bericht -------- Van: "Kseniya (Swytch Bike)" Datum: 09-08-2023 16:13 (GMT+01:00) Aan: lambertus.gitaren@gmail.com Onderwerp: [Swytch Bike] Re: Battery Charge Indicator Light Kseniya (Swytch Bike) 9 Aug 2023, 3:13 pm BST Hello Berry    There are several reasons why the range of a Swytch kit may be lower than the quoted ranges, which are typically determined through testing under specific conditions. Some factors that can affect the actual range include:   The quoted ranges are often based on ideal conditions, such as flat terrain, moderate temperatures, and no headwinds. In real-world situations, riding uphill, facing strong winds, stopping and starting often, or encountering rough terrain can significantly reduce the range. The quoted ranges assume a certain level of pedalling effort from the rider. If you rely more on the motor and pedal less, the battery will deplete faster, reducing the overall range. The quoted ranges are usually determined with a specific weight in mind, often around 80kg. Carrying additional weight, such as luggage or accessories, or being heavier than the average rider can impact the battery's performance and reduce the range.Proper tire pressure is important for optimal efficiency. Under or over-inflated tires can increase rolling resistance, resulting in higher energy consumption and decreased range.Riding at higher speeds requires more power from the motor, which can lead to faster battery depletion and a reduced range compared to riding at a moderate pace.Over time, lithium-ion batteries can experience a decrease in their capacity, resulting in reduced range. If the battery is older or has been heavily used, it may not provide the same range as when it was new.Extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, can affect battery performance. Very low temperatures, in particular, can temporarily reduce the battery's capacity and limit the range.  It's important to keep in mind that the quoted ranges are meant to provide an estimate under specific conditions and may not perfectly match real-world usage. If you consistently experience a significantly lower range than expected, it may be due to an issue with the controller which can test for. please could you perform the following test:   1 - Disconnect the power pack from the bike. 2 - Spin the wheel backwards, taking particular note of any resistance or noise. 3 - Repeat this with the power pack connected to the bracket.   Let us know if you notice any excessive resistance/noise or any difference with the power pack connected to the bracket, please send a video of this test if you can.   I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions. Kind Regards, Kseniya | Customer Service Advisor | support@swytchbike.com Looking for more information? Yes I read de troubleshooting on your website and tried several different settings. In my opinion the handlebar display is malfunctioning.  Maybe it is time to sent me another one so I can try and see if that's the problem.  Or any other part that can cause this particular problem. It is worth noting that the range estimates provided for the power are not a guarantee, and can be affected by many factors such as terrain and elevation throughout your ride. However, let's check everything is set up correctly first.   Start by performing the following tests.   1 - Disconnect the power pack from the bike.     2 - Spin the wheel backwards by hand, taking particular note of any resistance or noise.     3 - Repeat this with the power pack connected to the bracket.     Please let us know if you notice any excessive noise or resistance when spinning the wheel.    If there is no noise or resistance, then, using the correct guide below, please perform a factory reset of your kit, then reselect the correct wheel size and ensure the PAS direction is set to forward.   - Standard/Base Display Instructions (See p.43) - LED Display (turn off then on again) - OLED Display Instructions   Once you have completed these tests, please be sure to pump up your tires to the PSI indicated by the manufacturer and perform a test ride.   We look forward to hearing from you soon.   Have a great day! And it's halfway, 2/3 lights, on the battery after 15 km. This seems correct to me. On the display however, it's empty and motor stops. That's after 15 km. while using the minimum setting for support. This is not cool.. I think maybe there's a software problem, like the system doesn't recognise the bigger battery I have.... Please find me a solution for this problem because the way it's performing now is not at all satisfying.  Regards Berry  -------- Oorspronkelijk bericht -------- Van: "Kseniya (Swytch Bike)" Datum: 07-08-2023 14:38 (GMT+01:00) Aan: lambertus.gitaren@gmail.com Onderwerp: [Swytch Bike] Re: Battery Charge Indicator Light Kseniya (Swytch Bike) 7 Aug 2023, 1:38 pm BST Hi there, thank you for contacting Swytch. The light on your battery is a good indicator of charge level when charging but should not be used to determine the level of charge during your rides. This is because the display will read the level of charge better.    The display and battery read battery power level by the amount of voltage which fluctuates when in use, so sometimes can decrease more under load and can also go back up when not under load. It is also possible that the first light decreases quickly due to the level of charge too, when the first bar may go down very quickly, it may be that it was only charged up very slightly over that bar.  The best way to get an idea of charge is to check your display battery level indicator when you stop at traffic lights or a junction, for example. This is when the voltage will normalise and show the most accurate level of charge.   I hope that makes sense. Please don't hesitate to get in touch should you require further information.   Have a great day!
