If possible this would be minus 5 stars! Do not buy!!! Absolutely terrible. Ordered a mountain bike wheel from them. The website, the specifications and the order process does NOT tell you anywhere that the wheel will NOT fit either of the modern axles for mountain bikes now - The axle on the wheel does not fit a QR9x100 fork nor a Maxle through fork - This was an order that was placed in the summer of last year with a delivery in January - and the wheel would only appear to fit a bike that has forks on it that would in way suit a mountain bike. Absolutely NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE! Customer service do not appear able to assist either!

I placed my order in July 2020 with a delivery time expected 12-14 weeks. Understandable given the business model. However, this did not happened. Delivery was postponed several times with absolute lack of clarity regarding the whole situation. The only email I received after the first one related to the order was the one saying I needed to pay 20% tax plus 5% import charges. After 6 long months of frustration (in which I contacted the customer service many times) and excuses they finally admitted they messed up. There was an administrative error with the order. I am not sure if this involved only my order but I did not expect such lack of committment from them. Anyway, after many emails exchanged and waste of precious time, they finally confirmed the order was ready to be collected by the courier. Of course no tracking number provided just a vague message saying “if you don’t hear from the courier within seven days ....” I received the kit a couple of days ago and I haven’t tried it yet as in the meantime I have sold my bike... Awful and very stressful experience. I will definetly not make the same mistake again.

Hi Francesco, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. As a growing start up, Swytch is always looking for ways to improve our customer experience as we know it will be vital for us to succeed in our mission. We are sorry to see that you do not believe you received the Swytch experience that we pride ourselves on, and that this has outweighed the quality of our product. We have been in touch via email to discus your experience with you. We look forward to hearing back from you. Kind Regards, Swytch Customer Support

I must firstly give the the bad side - when I first ordered my Swytch Bike the delivery time was stated as 10-12 weeks, with ‘customers’ saying that they had received delivery in 10 weeks, which sounded ok. I had to wait 24 weeks, from my order to delivery. The good side is that It is very easy to set it up & works great, really pleased with the whole set up. From Les Hoare

The swytch kit is convenient you don't have to buy a new bike rather, you can convert your old bike into an e-bike. I have the 500w wheel, which has been great so far. I usually use the padel assist function when I am going to work or school so I don't sweat. It also comes in handy after soccer practice that when I usually go all out (23-25mph). Swytch makes life easier, it's a great convenience. The only issue that I have is with mileage I bought the 50 mile battery pack but I barely get 15 miles going on pedal assist 3. If the swytch team could fix that, then this product would deserve 5 stars.

My kit arrived 2 months early, very pleased as was expecting it in March. Fitted super quickly to my Brompton B75 and I had a great first commute to work today in central London with it. Lovely stuff thanks Swytch!

I first heard about the Swytch start-up in 2017 and finally decided to take the risk on Indigogo in January 2018, then just over a year later my “50 mile” kit arrived. I have to confess that several missed promised delivery dates gave me some doubts. But the wait was worthwhile, this is brilliant. I fitted the kit to my steel-framed touring bike (Edward Warner, Reynolds 531 frame for those who love details). I had bought this bike second hand in the early 80s, when I was a student in London, but had not been using it much recently. Fitting the Swytch kit did need a little bit of work, but not much. The Swytch 700C wheel is a tiny bit smaller than the ‘vintage’ 27 ¼ it replaced, fortunately the brakes had enough adjustment to allow for this, and a new tyre and tube was needed. The quick release forks had to be filed to get the wheel to fit, I had to swap the torque washer on the lead side, and put a spacer in for the pedal sensor, all very easy once I had decided it was possible. It all fits and works. I was very pleased with my first test ride, despite the cold wind. No need to get off and push up hills. I was a bit disappointed at how slow 15mph is when the assistance cuts out (but I have since found that this is easy to override). I had drop handlebars and the extra weight of the battery pack made it feel a bit top-heavy and unstable. I put flat bars on and this cured things (or I got used to it). First longer ride was 14 miles each way, a 407 ft rise and 719 ft drop (and of course the other way round on the way back) there was still juice left but the meter suggested not much. I have not tried a longer run, I’m sure I’d get further on flatter land. The bike has been great, I use it to get into the nearby town and out into the local countryside for the sheer pleasure. The kit only let me down once, at the bottom of a long hill when it switched off and wouldn’t go back on. I did have the Hall by-pass lead with me, but had forgotten that this was what could happen. After I fitted the lead it works perfectly again, although I wonder if it is as smooth and if the range might be cut. I would suggest fitting it in the first place, as I'm not holding my breath for the firmware update. Anyway I now have a superb ebike that has transformed my well-loved old bike, and it has cost a great deal less than buying new (and I probably would never have done that). I live about 2 miles from a town, and I use the bike now instead of being lazy and driving. The long hill on the way back is now easily conquered. I am very pleased with it and highly recommend the Swytch kit, especially if you want to keep a bike you have. Well done Swytch!

I met Swytch team via London cycle show 2017 by chance and I am impressed of the kit they developed. The idea of their kit is very good and simple. I pledged the brompton kit and received the kit in 2018. I did have a problem with the fitting and they have been very helpful to address it. I know their team is companding due to their success and I do recommend trying their kit out! You won't be disappointed!

I converted my bike with a Swytch kit last weekend (27 April 2019). My kit was 50 Mile 250W eBike Kit - 28" / 700C / 29er in the UK The delivery of the kit was very was fast but I did have to make contact to ask for a charger which was missed out of the package. This was dispatched really quickly. The conversion was fairly straightforward and the tasks reasonably simple. I took my time and watched a few YouTube videos as well as the Swytch Guides. If I had to do it again I would leave about 3 to 4 hours mainly because different bikes may need slightly different considerations. The kit is good and gives you everything you need. Nothing is beyond the average cyclist that is reasonably proficient at mending a puncture or doing a roadside repair to get themselves out of a fix from time to time. The magnet disk sensor fitted the bike easily. I had to fit the sensor on the seat tube which had the appropriate space and then run the wire along the down tube but this was not a major issue. (No Sugru which judging by the number of times it is mentioned in the context of this sensor, must have made a fortune out of Swytch conversions). The front wheel with the motor is well constructed and it fitted between the forks without any adjustment. If you have ever fitted a handlebar bag, the handlebar mount is similar to fit. I made a special point of ensuring I got the front wheel the right way round but when I first got on the bike the power was not transferring to the wheel. When I checked I had still managed to put it on the wrong way round (silly me!). Mainly because the bicycle in the diagram was upside down and so all was reversed. For reference the motor wire needs to be on the left had side of the bike when the bike it's the right way up. I fitted one of the brake sensors but took it off because the positioning on my bike, near to the battery meant that sensor and the cable just got in the way. I have found the sensors unnecessary. The battery was charged after a few hours. The instructions suggested a full charge would take 6 hours but there was charge in the battery when it arrived. It took 4 hours to fully charge the first time. When the battery is charged the light on the charger changes from red to green. After a ride of about 30 miles the battery was down to 2 bars on the battery display. It was recharged after 4 hours. My first ride was about 30 miles. I had been off my bike for about a year due to illness so this is a way of getting back on the saddle and gradually building up my fitness again. I had not tried an ebike before so I was pleasantly surprised at how the power kicked in when needed up the hills which meant I could do a moderate ride almost straight away. I envisage myself gradually reducing the assistance over time and building my abilities back up. This has been a really enjoyable experience and I can't wait to get out on my bike again after work or at the weekends. Things I learned/improvements: -Get the wheel on the right way -More information about the battery, its settings, charging etc would be good. I had to watch an independent YouTube video to get more detailed info. -Don't bother with the brake sensors -Persevere with the tyre on the wheel rim it will stay on eventually. - Don't believe all the drama and information on YouTube. When you can, refer back to the Swytch information. -E cycling is not without effort - you choose the level of effort that's right for you. Don't be put off by any purists. Enjoy being out on a bike with friends or on your own whatever you prefer. I love being outdoors in the open air, and hopefully the sunshine. Cycling is one of the best ways to experience that.

Received it in good time but I am missing the charger so have been unable to use it so far. Have written an email but still awaiting reply. Frustrating, and no phone number to call. Will be returning if no reply.

So much fun to roll up hills with my turbo-charged Brompton since it got Swytched! It’s like having a gentle push from behind. The kit was fairly easy to install but I did get a final inspection from a local bike mechanic to make sure. It took a long time to arrive to my American door (no surprise right now) however it was worth the wait. And after reading the instructions I now spell tire the English way as “tyre.”

LOVE MY SWYTCH! I am able to take my Brompton out everyday because I can now conquer all the hills with the pedal assist. I'm a middle aged not so fit woman just trying to use my bicycle more. Biking does not have to be painful anymore.

Paid extra to receive power pack earlier. 5 months later - it still doesn't work. easy to set up but one part wrong shape so had to be replaced before it could be assembled. They sent the same part again! Next delivery was the same part again and a near fit part but it needed filing down to fit. Then power pack would not fit the handlebar shape so new bracket need to be ordered. This one no longer sat on the handlebars so each time you want to change the power level you have to stop. It worked in the end well - for two/three journeys. Then it started to fail, only giving a short power boost as the pedal was pushed down and then stopped powering. Then it stopped powering altogether. Zoom call followed and technician decided on the 'solve it all' new bracket for the battery. This arrived and did not make any difference after being fitted. Next, it was decided a new controller would do the trick. Arrived, fitted - made no difference. Now another Zoom call in several days time. I have pleaded for someone to come and sort it but they will not. I have offered to drive through London to take the bike to Swytch - they will not agree. I have asked twice for a refund for the extra payment for early delivery and the charges I have incurred and they have said they will sort it - they have not. It is a standing joke in my neighbourhood and at my office. The sales video says"we are there to help if you need" As polite as the people are they are not helping the customer and the end result is frustration, anger, reputational damage for the all singing smiling image that is portrayed. Very sad - especially as the intention was to support an innovative new business. Meanwhile the customer is totally inconvenienced and out of pocket.

I was really excited to get my Swytch kit. Sure the delivery was quite delayed but I figure that was out of their control (tho as others have pointed out, the communication around this could have been a bit more proactive). First impressions were that it was a quality bit of kit, and fitting it to my bike was easy. It works well (although there's a bit of a lag between starting to peddle and the assistance kicking in, but you learn to accommodate this). I can see why people like it and for many people I imagine it's ideal (a friend of mine loves his). However, I ride on busy UK roads and only want assistance going up hills, and occasionally on the flat, so want to change the assistance level frequently, and it's design makes this difficult and potentially dangerous. This is because to change the 'assist level' (that is, to change much help it gives you) you have to take one hand off the handlebars (and your eyes off the road) to press buttons on the power pack, which is attached to the bikes handlebars. And these buttons are small, and hidden underneath the waterproof battery cover, so you might have to take several stabs to get the assistance level you want, especially if you're wearing gloves. Not ideal, especially on a bumpy road with traffic all around. The other issue I have with it is having the weight of the battery hung from the handlebars. The bike already has the Swytch electric motor in the hub of the front wheel and with the weight of battery added to it it makes the steering heavy and ponderous, so any manoeuvres become more difficult. This design may be okay for people who never want to change the level of assistance, especially if on a bike that was already heavy and they're going in a straight line on flat surfaces, say people in Holland maybe. But for real life use on UK roads on a light bike, for me at least, it's not good. I want the battery slung low and the controls directly to hand (such as a twist grip changer) so I can keep my hands on the bars and my eyes on the road. Hopefully Swytch will offer these options in the near future

Not happy at all have tried to contact swytch but customer care and support doesnt appear to exist only automated replies and no phone number to physically talk to a person.. The advert says from swytch to convert any bike 🤷‍♀️ I fitted my kit to my ladies pashley bike which has hub breaks I'm now left with a bike that two bike shops have told me is dangerourous to ride and unsafe as I now have no front break which is illegal..I'm confused that swytch has not mentioned this in any of their instructions before you buy.. I'm now left with a worthless expensive piece of kit and a bike that Is not safe to ride plus no support from swytch .. Trying to find a way to maybe have a v clamp fitted and new wheel forks but not sure if the swytch wheel has a rim for this.. Just at a loss with this does anyone know the phone number for swytch please

i have the 50 mile swytch kit fitted to a vodoo marasa the fitting took a couple of hours, only because i took my time to fit it properly, it is an excellent bit of kit and pulls my weight up big hills no problem. swytchbike as a company has come on leaps and bounds since i ordered the kit there were a few teething problems as with any start-up company but i would highly recommend them

I ordered my Swytch kit as one of the original Indiegogo backers and it was fascinating to watch the company overcome some of the hurdles to get the project - about which they were obviously passionate - off the ground. It was worth the wait!

Ordered back in October, promised for January, told that kit was completed and was sent to fulfillment center in February but that was changed to March 1. Received March 23 email indicating they lied as the kit was just completed and was just sent to fulfillment center on March 23. The online tracking form still says March 1 for Fulfillment Center. They can't even keep their communications accurate. Please refund my money. Advice to new customers: "Don't": Don't order, don't trust communications, just don't.
