I love your fairy lights. I have 3 sets of my own and have gifted them to at least 4 of my friends, and they are always really well received. One friend put it perfectly..."I didn't realise I needed them in my life until I had received them". The only thing I would say that could be improved is the delivery times but this is by no means a big issue...just some honest feedback from someone who does a fair bit of online shopping! I appreciate that you can opt for express delivery but I have found that when having standard delivery I've ever received an order earlier than 4 or 5 days after ordering (which I understand is within the stated time frame but it would be nice to get them a little sooner). Looking at the email trails it takes you around 2 full days to process an order before it is shipped. Hopefully this just means that you are super busy and getting so many orders that you cannot deal with them any quicker ;-)

Dear Ellen, Thank you so much for your thoughtful and well-considered post. We do take on board all feedback. To explain regarding the time/s it takes to send out orders, we do not have any of the sets ready made so each time someone places an order it is custom made. Given that there are over 50 colours and so many combinations, this takes more time than say sending a dress or book out, hence the time frame we allow especially when busy. Our warehouse is not open at weekends, to give staff well-deserved time off so we operate weekdays only. The lights look brilliant, both on and off. I hadn't realised I had to put the lights and balls together myself which was a bit of a faff. Might have said this was the case on the website but not obvious enough for me to pay attention!

Dear Anon, Thank you for your post - I am glad you were able to attach the balls to the cable ok in the end and that you love the final result. We do not have the resources to attach them ourselves and it does also allow for individual creativity to thread the colours in the way you would like to yourself. It's great you like the lights both on and off - as they are not always lit up, it's good to have a colour way that also look nice unlit. I do hope you get a lot of pleasure from them. Order arrived later than expected but the customer services were extremely responsive when I contacted them and their response was very helpful. I am very satisfied with their product as well!

This is my second lot of lights and I think the single strand cable rather that the looped cable is so much better. I wish I had a single strand on my first set as the wire trails over my kitchen windowsill!! I am happy with my new set but think I didn't understand what I was doing when I ordered them. I kept hitting the shuffle button until I found the string I liked, thinking they would come ready set up - I didn't realise that all this did was indicate how many of each colour i would receive. Having now received them i am a bit disappointed with my choices as some of the colours seem darker than they did on line. I will perhaps order a few more of the lighter coloured ones and replace some of the darker colours at some time in the future. I have them in my Art Room so I just keep asking people what they think when they attend their classes. I think its just me as everyone else seems to think they are ok - or they are just being polite. haha.

Dear Beverley, Thank you for your interesting post - I am glad that your students like the lights. The shuffling option online shows you what you can achieve with the colours placed in different positions; we do not have the resources to then make them up like this for each customer. The colours you see online are based on photos of the balls 'in real life' so we can try to get them as accurate as possible. Perhaps a few lighter ones will work in your cable by breaking up the darker colours. I am glad it can at least be a talking point in your Art class! Yours warmly, Kate

Fantastic product, easily to use and fits my cotton balls from bought from a shop in Barcelona. Postage a little slow, but not the end of the world!

They are lovely but I hadn't expected self assembly. Probably done to give the buyer the creative freedom to choose? Personally I would have preferred if they had come ready assembled with the option to make changes if I wished;

Dear Tim, Thank you for your post yes you are right - this does give people the option to personalise the cables themselves. It is easier to get the balls onto the LED discs than off them, so we do not attach them for our customers. I do hope you enjoy your light set. Yours warmly, Kate

Great product. Great choice of colours. Unfortunately there is an issue with their server regards aol. I never recieve a email confirmation & have to ring the shop to confirm. However Kate and all the staff are super helpful & efficient & friendly. This issue has not put me off the company. I have 4 sets now & love the new LED’s they are so much better being on one string & not the older we look. And brighter. Would & do highly recommend Cable & Cotton & will continue to purchase from the web site and plan to replace my old loop lights with new LED strings.

The lights are great and we are really pleased with them. We did have a problem with the supplied plug which seems to have been faulty and failed on first use. However, the company have responded to that very well and it sounds to have been a very unusual occurrence. We’ve been very impressed with the main product (the lights) and the subsequent customer service.

Dear Anon, Thank you for your post; I am sorry it was not clear to you that a plug is needed to use with the usb cable. We have tried to make this more obvious but I will pass your feedback onto our technical team to revise the info on the website. The usb port can be used with any adapted plug such as a spare mobile phone charger - as people have these when they upgrade their phones we do not automatically include them in the light sets. This is probably my tenth set of lights and I love them as ever. Just wish you still had the option of the old style lights. As these do not match up with the old ones, plus I preferred the ambient light of the old style.

Dear Miriam, Thank you for your post. Some people do prefer the filament bulb cables but we have used a warm white for the new LEDs so that they are not too bright and certainly not 'glare-y'. Easy ordering, fast delivery, lovely product.........just a little disappointed that for the money, the item don't come with a free plug as they do with other brands.

Dear Laura, Thank you for your post especially regarding the plugs on the cables. Many of our customers already have spare mobile phone charger plugs which can be used with the USB ports attached to the cable, so we give people the option to either use their own or to buy a plug for £4.95 on our website. I really love the lights they are beautiful ..There were just two things I felt could have been better.. I couldn't put them on straight away as I didn't realise they didn't come with a plug !! I suppose that's my fault for not ready the finer details, I was just excited to find what I was looking for when a friend suggested I look on your site... I was real disappointed as I couldn't wait to put them in place and switch them on but I had to wait until the following day when I went to buy a u.s.b plug. Also,when I came to put the lights on the string the white baubles hadn't been split ready to put the lights in , I had to make the splits myself.

Dear Helen, Thank you so much for your post - I am sorry you did not realise that the new LED cables do not come with a fitted plug but with a usb port (which is then plugged in to an adapted plug). We will look into making this more obvious on our website. A lot of people have spare mobile phone charger plugs which do the same job, but if you do not have one then you do need to buy a usb plug. I understand that is disappointing when you have to wait to use the lights if you cannot plug them in. As for the pure white balls not have splits in them at all, this is really rare and I do apologise. In the event that a ball has not been split we do advise that you can make your own splits with a small pair of nail scissors but it is not ideal - every ball usually has a pre-made cut which is what you were expecting. I wish you hadn't shut your Brighton store! Nothing like being able to see the colour options in person. Makes the purchasing process much more of a risk... :(

Dear Anon, Thank you for your post - I do agree that seeing the colours in person is a great option. We came the end of our lease - it is turning into a jewellery centre in this part of Brighton so we could not renew it. If you ever need help with colour choice or matching fabrics/patterns etc please do email me at hello@cableandcotton.com and I will always do my best to be of help. The colour selection on line is made up of photos of the actual balls - this is as accurate as we can get it for our customers, with the proviso that lighting can sometimes effect the look of each colour, so it is a good way to select the colours. I really like the products, but was disappointed that no replacement bulbs were available and that I had to buy a new string. The discount was good, though. My order arrived promptly.
