“I ordered 4 boxes of lights as gifts, but they came unlabelled, so I had to peel up the stickers on each box & check inside to make sure the right person got the right lights. Great lights though!”

Dear Paula, Thank you for your post - I am sorry but we do not label the boxes with the names which must have been confusing for you. i will of course feed this back to the warehouse. “The order took several days to arrive and some of the lights were quite difficult to insert into the globes due to the pre-cut slits being, in some instances, too small. However the lights look very good and I am pleased with them.”

“I hadn't realised how the lights had changed from the old style - I do hope they last longer. I've had trouble in the past with trying to find the bulb which had blown, having to pull all the balls off one by one to find the culprit, then the balls get a bit loose and tend to fall off. But I love them so much I have persevered, so now I can try these new LED ones! It seems a shorter lead between each bulb so the whole string is shorter than I expected - I'm sure it tells me on the website, I just didn't look. They look great though!”

Dear Philippa, Thank you for your interesting and informative post - I do hope you like the new LEDs now. Al the technical information is on our website under the 'help' tab so it may be useful to look at that. I do wonder how old your previous cable is - if you want to email me at hello@cableandcotton.co.uk I can be of more help in identifying the culprit bulb which is usually the white-tipped fuse bulb depending on the age of the cable. It would save you a lot of time trying to locate the bulb! But perhaps now you have LEDs you will be happier with these as they do not require bulb changes! I very much hope so. “Add an optional gift card for no more than 50p ?? styled with a photo / slogan of the lights eg Happy Carnival Candy Birthday. I thought the optional transparent box for £2.95 ?? was pointless and too expensive.”

“The lights arrived promptly and supberbly packaged. They look fantastic up in my son's room. I haven't awarded 5 stars as with of the 5 balls where the slit was small and it was very tricky to push the light in. Two of the colours were also slightly different to how they looked online. Other than that I am extremely happy with my purchase.”

Dear Rebecca, Thank you for your honest post and your lovely photo too. I am sorry that the slits on the balls needed enlarging - the cotton balls are handmade and sometimes the hole is not wide enough for the LED light. (It is rare though.) If you ever want any colour advice / to match fabrics / paints etc in future please do send us pics and we will do our best to recommend the closest colours as sometimes the balls can look slightly different in various lights. All the pictures of each colour that you can see on the website are photos of the balls and as true to the colour as possible. I am really glad that you like the end result so much! “The warm white isn’t as warm as I’d hoped! I have an older (non LED) set from yourselves which is much warmer.”

Dear Marie, Thank you for your feedback - the old style filament bulb cables are indeed a warmer off-white and we have made the new LEDs a warm off white rather than a very bright white (which LED lights usually are) to avoid glare. The disc design also means the light radiates out at @ 180 degrees rather than the piercing direct light usually emitted from LEDs. I do hope you get used to the new LEDs in time - certainly it depends on the colours used with them (i.e. paler colours let a lot more light through). Yours sincerely, Kate

Dear Anon, Thank you for your post - I am really glad your lights did arrive in time for Halloween and look lovely in your kitchen! I am sorry you found it a bit fiddly to put the cotton balls onto the lights but hope it was worth it. We cannot pre-assemble all the sets according to customer's requirements (which vary considerably) as this would take too long and push the price of our product up especially at this time of year! “Well, the service was fine but the results disappointing so far ! I have a lovely 35-globe string of lights that failed a while ago. They used to light up my bedroom, and they made me very happy ! So I eventually bought several sets of bulbs thinking I just needed to replace the fuse-bulb. But that didn't make a difference - alas ! So then I changed the fuse in the plug. I was so confident - but still nothing. I have despondently handed my lights over to a pal to see whether patient examination of the other 34 bulbs can fix the problem. I really hope so because I love the fact that Cable and Cotton aren't a 'throwaway' company but one where the product really lasts...”

Dear Helen, Thank you for your post. I have looked up any details of emails relating to this issue for you in our customer service data-base and cannot find any yet. If you would like to contact me directly on hello@cableandcotton. com with more information relating to this issue (inc date of purchase of your original set) I can then hopefully be of more help. The advice we give for cables post-dating 2015 is as follows: Can I confirm that you have you tried replacing the fuse bulb on the chain of lights? This is a white tipped bulb and is located at the very beginning of the cable. If you follow the cable from the plug to the first or second ball it will be one of those. You should have received a small packet of spare bulbs attached to the cable and you will need to use the white tipped one. I can confirm it will never be an issue with the fuse in the plug. It may be that your filament bulb cable predates 2015 in which case the bulbs we currently stock and sell will not fit the cable as it does not have a fuse bulb. But I can be of more help if I have the full history of your cable. I look forward to hearing from you in due course. Yours sincerely, Kate

“Service was impeccable, price is good and I love the look of the lights. Only criticism is that the measurements indicated on the website do not allow for the amount of flex that goes into each light......for example, the 2 x 35 light sets do not easily span the 6.5 metres I want them to despite the website suggesting the span is 3.5 metres each set - i.e. should be a total of 7 metres.”

You make a very good point regarding the slight decrease in length due to the small amount of cable taken up when the balls are placed onto the LED lights, so we shall look into this and perhaps readjust our lengths as stated on the site accordingly. Dear Anon, Thank you for your post - I hope you were able to get rid of any slight dents from placing the balls onto the LED lights. This can be done by gently tugging on the cable and light - the dent disappears as the ball goes back into shape. I really hope you like your lovely new lights. Yours warmly, Kate

Dear Sara, Thank you for your email; yes, self-assembly is part of this product, although I am sorry you did not realise this. To pre-assemble all the hundreds of orders for our customers in exactly the way they would like them to be done would take a lot of time, and therefore increase the cost of the product.
