“I love the look of the cotton balls and am happy with the USB lights. However since the bulb is slightly larger than the original filament bulbs they are a little more difficult to fit in the pre- made slits in the ball. The grey were all too small by far and required cutting. This hasn’t detracted at all from the finished result but please cut slits to correct size.”

Dear Anon, Thank you for your post; I am glad you like the new LEDs and agree that they are larger than the old style filament bulb cables which were easier to slip through the holes. We of course have had a period of adjustment - we introduced the new LEDs but of course still had balls cut to slightly smaller holes. This can be addressed by enlarging the hole with a sharp pair of scissors as we detail in the instruction leaflet with your order. All balls handmade from last year onwards are now cut with a wider split to accommodate the new LED discs so this will gradually phase out as an issue. I very much hope you like your lights and can see how fabulous they look offsetting your painting, so thanks a lot for the photo too! Yours warmly, Kate

“I love the product although I hadn't expected to have to put the balls round the lights myself, which really hurt my fingers by the time I got to the end and was not very easy to do! I have to cut the slits longer in some of the balls.”

Dear Katharine, Thank you for your post - I am so glad you love the product but am concerned that you hurt your fingers placing the balls on your cable. I am really sorry this happened - sometimes the cotton balls are stiffer if the dye is heavier (i.e. the colour is darker). “Did not get round to the review in November But I Just have to say I love your lights and would recommend to everyone as they are lovely and so different. You make make any room or any occasions special with these light and I have seen them in Cafe's and restaurants in different places I have visited around the country.”

“Purchased some replacement bulbs and the postage was more than the price of the bulbs. Complained and was told the dispatch company put the postage price up so they reduced the cost of the bulbs and apparently that makes it ok?! Started to replace bulbs on our 35 string to find they had all burnt out. There was no fuse bulb in the string at all. I now don’t have enough bulbs and don’t feel inclined to buy more. Very disapointed. Had we known there were LED replacement strings we would have gone down that road in the first place. Now we have a useless set of lights.”

Dear Anon, Thank you for your post. I am sorry you bought replacement bulbs and that they do not work on your cable. It sounds as if your cable pre-dates 2015, when the filament bulb cable was changed to include the white-tipped fuse bulb (which when changed, usually lights up all the other bulbs as well). Dear Ellis, Thank you for your lovely post. The online pictures of the coloured cotton balls are taken directly from photographs, so that we try to get the colours as close to real life as possible. If you can email me at hello@cableandcotton.com and let me know which purple looked slightly different to you, it would be most helpful as we can then see if we can update/readjust the corresponding image.
