“Ok course. The assignments can be quite misleading and the feedback can be very confusing. I failed one assignment and took the feedback on board, changed my answer and submitted it. Only to be told I had done it wrong and needed to pay attention to the feedback...??? Also some of the quiz questions are subjective which I found extremely frustrating. There is no guidance in the forum and I couldn't find a way to contact my tutor. All in all its an OK course. You get what you pay for.”

“I really enjoyed this course but the only thing I’d say is the directions on assignments need to be more clear. Some assignments where quiet misleading! My tutor provided great feedback and made sure I understood the assignment if I didn’t get it correct the first time.”

“The given information provides you with a lot of resources to implement in your practice as a teacher. You also go over a huge grammar review that’s always good! Some videos are a bit too long and you cannot download them as it’s supposed you could.”

“I thought the review was supposed to be about the particular course that I have done, not about the TEFL Org in general. I found the "How to promote your online lessons" course very shallow. It barely covers how to promote, it mostly covers social media apps and tools, which we all know about. Moreover, the majority of the media suggested that are not the best for the purpose.”

“The quality overall was ok. As an individual with prior teaching experience content wise the pedagogy was sound. Tutor feedback was simple and accurate. Video and audio quality could be improved upon significantly. Particularly the sound balancing which was at times poor. Also, the two primary actors/presenters for most of the content were a touch patchy in their delivery, an issue made all the more apparent by the sudden improved presentation in found in the Telephone Teaching course due to personnel change. A final comment. A proof reader needs to go through the course text again. At times the text is in American English and at other British English and in the most egregious example (Methodology Unit 4 Module 17 of 31) both forms used within the same sentence. Along with, multiple other typos, this apparent lack of standardisation doesn’t give the best impression given the subject matter at hand.”

“The course overall is useful, particularly the grammar section. It is a great refresher and a reminder that nowadays we use it easily without much thought and so we can forget how complicated it was when we learned it. The quizzes are helpful to see how much we have retained and what we may need to continue to review. One area of the course I would ask for more improvement on is the phonology unit. More instruction on how to better use the chart and seeing it being taught more in classroom settings would be helpful to fully understand how we could make better use of it. The other area is the assignments. The assignments are a bit too vague, especially understanding what the students know or should know as it is very subjective. I also feel like the assignments should be similar to the lesson plans we watched in the classroom videos. Often I would write my lesson based on the demonstration in the classroom with the student's abilities and would receive feedback that the students wouldn't know or would know something without any clarity before the feedback. I also would like to see a large class being taught if I am to write a lesson plan. Overall it had some helpful tips and tricks, but feel it could be improved by adding more clarity.”

“There is some good material here and I like the student centered emphasis. However, I think the assignments are far too prescriptive leaving very little room for flexibility or creativity. It is fine to have a basic structure but not to be able to deviate, even if this is explained clearly, is unrealistic in a real teaching situation. However, I did learn from doing the lesson plans but not much from the quizzes ...some of which were a bit insulting to the intelligence of the student. I guess you are trying to pitch at all levels of student but perhaps this is a mistake as I think a real beginner with no teaching experience would be ill-equipped by this course. Nevertheless, as someone with a lot of teaching experience but none of TEFL, I did learn from the course materials and much of it, particularly the grammar section, was clearly laid out and easy to follow.”

“I do appreciate the efforts of the tutors, who invested time and energy to correspond. In my opinion, the written assignments need improvement and revision. In general, the directions are a bit vague and overall, subsequent assessments are highly subjective. It takes considerable time to request clarification and even with that, the time lag in gaining feedback and resubmitting do not support a rewarding experience. As for a recommendation, that would depend upon an individual's needs. I have enjoyed over ten year's experience in classroom teaching: In my case, I needed the certification to satisfy prospective employers. I can't claim to know what potential distinctions may exist among various organizations who offer the certification. This course took far longer than anticipated, primarily due to the written assignments, which I felt were too subjective in the initial directions and especially the subsequent assessments. It became more of an effort to understand and clarify what an individual tutor desired. I hope this limited feedback may prove benificial.”

“The content is good, but the support is limited and this is a problem sometimes because the assignment instructions are not very clear. Due to the lack of clarity in instruction, the most successful tactic I used in completing this course was trial and error. I feel like this is not really a way to learn, but more a way to pass the course.”

“Content really good, went into an appropriate amount of detail but my system crashed every 5 mins despite getting in touch with IT support who couldn’t see anything wrong which meant the experience wasn’t as enjoyable as I’d hoped for”

“I thought the content was great, the quizzes test your understanding and assignments were interesting and allowed you to feel like you had learnt and put to practice your understanding. However, I believe that the explanation videos should be done much better. They got pretty boring after a while since you can too obviously notice the presenters are reading a script. This is not attractive and frankly a waste if at the end you can just read the transcript. The grading of the assignment was mostly on time but did take a while and the feedback was sometimes very critical in relation to the simplicity of the assignment. Overall, I am quite content with the course and was able to complete it quickly and swiftly.”

“Positives - Diversity of content type - Ability to work at own pace - Quantity of assignments Negatives - More focus on actual creation of lesson plans. Many assignments were based on this, but there wasn't a single unit dedication to actually writing out lesson plans - only demos of how lessons are enacted - Videos sometimes too long - need to edit out the talking or writing time between students”

“While I learned some useful things in the course to aid me in teaching, I did not feel completely satisfied. I am already teaching B1-C1 level students. The training seemed to be more helpful for teachers of A1 level students. But I appreciate the experience and certificate.”
